  1. Rode it to work this morning. Still covered in the bug guts from yesterday's trip home. Might hit some twisties on the way home after work.
  2. So has the OP went and looked at bikes and gear yet? I guess that might be a good place to start. See what catches your eye and and then come back with questions.
  3. Only decent photo from the photographers...
  4. Just made it home. 1240 miles. Rode alot of fun roads, and made it affordable too. Went across Deals Gap twice, first time only made it a little past the overlook and got stuck behind a line of cars and trikes. Had some fun screwing around with a Ford Fiesta. We would pull over and wait for a 2nd train of trikes to start approaching and then take off and catch our train. Did that like 3 or 4 times. 2nd run was later in the evening, sat at the overlook until we had a good gap of no one going by. Made a decent run, found out my highway pegs will drag if not folded up . The new suspension setup helped tremendously. This was my first set of Bridgestone T30s and they stuck like glue once hot. Still had more fun on Cherohala though. 209 The Rattler was also fun, no traffic to worry about on it. Did a good bit of slab to get home today. Fun trip all in all. I can't wait for the June trip now.
  5. Are those the tires that smoke different colors? I've seen something similar at a bike show, years ago.
  6. Damn, how many donuts did you bring home? Seriously though that better be warranty covered.
  7. It definitely needs some work, cause we couldn't get it all to work. 2 riders, Zumo 590, Zumo 660, 2 Sena 10U, 2 Samsung Note 5, and an iPod touch. Yeah we tried to make it way too complicated. Then the GPS kept trying to "optimize" the route which we didn't want. I think this was my fault for not placing enough waypoints.
  8. Today was a great day of riding. Had plenty of issues getting GPS, Sena, and Phone Pairing, but we made it through the day. We stopped at the 421 store for a quick snack and drink.
  9. @thompsonian and I are rolling out of Coolville today for a 3 day Gap trip. Staying in Maggie Valley as the home base. Pictures to follow each day. Below is my SPOT Tracker page. http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0L9zhiOcPaABNa01Hc197KqqIcrIQ5QD1
  10. When i first started riding, I was bound determined to go buy a brand new supersport. Called insurance for a qoute beforehand, and they qouted $7k a year. I asked why so high and they said a rider with an endorsement less than a year on a new supersport, they figure they will have to write it off within 3 months. This is the sad truth. I wish I still had my F4i I had when I was 17, just to see how much better I could ride it now, cause back then I didn't have half the skill I do now.
  11. Ain't that the truth. I build digital advertising, and people want an 8.5x11 sheet of paper worth of info on a tiny banner ad. Then when I do it, they say "It looks cluttered". I wonder why....
  12. This is probably the most truthful thing I've read all week. I definitely grew some thicker skin over the last 5 years of working in design.
  13. But a non-supersport bike is designed with more leg room and more forgiving knee angles(ie. lower peg position), which in turn helps taller riders. Much like a naked bike "usually" has more room. There are exceptions of course.
  14. BTW, your height and weight aren't as limiting as your think. I rode a R3 when I was 280 pounds and it had enough power to run a decent pace on twisties.
  15. SMH, a liter bike for a first bike is just asking for trouble. Save yourself some upfront money, and insurance money and avoid a supersport. Look for SV650, FZ6r, F4i, CBR500/650, Ninja 650. These bikes will feel like a rocket ship compared to the 250 at your MSF course. Then take that saved money and invest in good quality gear or accessories towards the bike you chose.
  16. Got one saddlebag packed. Waiting for the load in the dryer to finish the 2nd saddlebag. Saturday morning can't get here soon enough.
  17. Jegs used to have 2 stores. The one in Reynoldsburg got shut down.
  18. After that recent accident with the Subaru and the ambulance, I bet they are patrolling the dragon more right now.
  19. Sygic works great, especially with custom routes made in ITN Converter. I am using a Garmin 590 for the first time this weekend. (Got dad one for Christmas, so we share it)
