  1. I was thinking of taking a ride. It's like 1:15am. Is there a particular time range at night that is less safe to ride? Also wondering that in regard to the holiday weekend.

I used to be all into networking and network security...as an interest. But there's always my anti-money firewall in the way. heh That why I only have sparklers and a water bottle in an old car. No mobile bar. Nothing that explodes in the sky.

What does he do?? I seem to have a money repelling effect. Opposite of my wife and son.
  5. Maybe. I posted a cr*ppy version of the video. Backwards and lower pitch. heh
  6. I don't think they showed him riding it though.
  7. Norman Reedus didn't even get there on his show "Ride." The locals told them not to go over the weekend. heh "They decide it is too busy to actually drive the nearby Tail of the Dragon, but end up catching a crazy race where people drive tiny 50cc bikes around a parking lot in pitch black darkness."

Literally blowing your money? Looks like fun! Takes me back to when I was a kid and almost blew my hand off with an M80. Just like in a movie, I threw it in the air and it exploded almost immediately. (Inexperienced. I didn't realize the fuse burned differently than the little firecrackers.)
  9. Maybe go to Rice Paddy?
  10. Wow, did you do that on public roads? I'd probably soil myself taking a corner that hard.
  11. I thought it was good that he found the leaking fork seal. A rusty chain isn't a good sign. It just sounds weather beaten. Owning for only a year, I don't know if I'd want to deal with those issues. Yeah, just need to grab something and gain experience to have a better frame of reference.
  12. You have to RIDE the bike to be sure of the weight or anything. Getting to $2500-3000, you should find something easy. BTW, the R6 is basically an RR. It's a super sport.
  13. Thinking out loud, but I got it. Grinding into gear would be the dogs for both cars and bikes, not the actual gears. They look different, but work the same, minus the synchros.
  14. Hmm... even with synchros, gear dogs are still involved? At least in this example they are.
  15. Wow, I want to try one now. I don't know if I should study the DCT or keep the head clear to work on my shifting. Odds are I won't have a DCT any time soon.
  16. I'm confused enough with one clutch. haha Actually, I get the clutch. Synchros, not so much.
  17. I imagine the gears would be stressed, but not grind. I don't want to try, but could gear dogs barely connect and grind?
  18. Hmm...how much force is exerted by a shift fork to hold the gears in place? Dont' they constantly rub metal against metal? I thought only pre-loading the shift level too much would exert force on the shift forks. (I guess it doesn't matter too much because I can't change the design! I just have to not break it!)
  19. The gears are always meshed, so I think it's different. Only the gear dogs interlock or release from each other. Unlike a car that will grind gears. I guess if it's done really bad, the dogs might not be happy. Not 100% sure.
  20. Yeah, I've been studying the constant-mesh transmission and see how clutchless upshifting works. I had no idea before that shifting could be so different from a car. I did come across a video in which a guy describes reducing throttle, pulling in the clutch, and upshifting simultaneously. I think that's what I started doing. I probably don't get the RPMs right because it isn't always smooth. That's why I've been adding clutch, just in case. I can't imagine downshifting this way though. I guess I just need to spend more time feeling it out.
  21. What's the difference between them?
  22. I was mainly talking about upshifting. Blipping for downshifts is a whole different thing for me. When I get it right, I feel awesome! If I get a buck or double rev, I feel embarrassed and disappointed. heh
  23. I was just thinking. Wouldn't keeping pressure on the shifter increase wear a little on the shift forks? In the future, maybe I'll just make contact with the shifter without much pressure. I don't really want it to shift automatically as soon as I ease up on the throttle.
