  1. I want a PTK kit for my car, but no one would buy it for me. Would be the perfect time to upgrade too. Anyone have several thousand dollars laying around they wouldn't mind giving to me?
  2. That car looked and sounded like crap anyway; no real loss to the WRX community.
  3. I gotta agree with Keith; calling it a stall is pretty homo. <---- Has a car worthy....and should be much more worthy in several weeks.
  4. Yay, the 30th repost on this board of the same STAGED video that was taken years ago.
  5. Wow, just wow. I have the skills of a one armed monkey when it comes to wood working, yet I could still do a better job than that. The guy has to be joking........right??
  6. This is what I figured. I just knew I could pool a few more people who get their stuff from places I don't. At this point, there probably won't be any leaks, or will only be 1-2 days prior to the release, so I guess I'll be hitting Best Buy next Tuesday.
  7. Sevendust is easily my favorite band, and their new CD comes out on the 11th. I just can't wait anymore; I want it now!! But I can't find anything online except Ugly and Pieces, the two singles that are released (both kick ass BTW). I heard a couple other songs from the new CD when they played live on Sirius, which also rocked. I'll wait a week if I have to, but if anyone can hook me up sooner, that would be swell.
  8. I don't get the That Sunfire was significantly quicker, and going fast costs $$.
  9. No, people "thought" that hatch had 500-600HP, and that was proved to be blantantly wrong.
  10. Check snopes; it's fake.
  11. Well, the spare was replaced w/ a nitrous bottle, AC was just in the way, and rear seats can't be used w/ the cage. Tubular K-member, tubular A-arms, tubular (or just pulled) front nose cone support, lightweight brakes (several to choose from), tons of unneeded stuff under the dash, stock seats are heavy, fiberglass hood, door bars (those are 20lbs right there), typical wheel/tire stuff, lightweight glass, lightweight battery (such as a Dynabat), carpet padding above gas tank, and a bunch of other things that aren't coming to mind. Fully stripped, these cars can get down to 2800-2900 lbs, but you've gotta spend the cash, and remove a lot of stuff to get there. And that's not using any exotic body parts, and still on a stock-style suspension.
  12. Hmmm, a couple of those look pretty well done. None of them I'd ever own, but there is some decent work in there. The H1 looked pretty authentic with a quick glance; too bad at that price, you'd be better off spending a little more $$ and buying an earlier used H1. That 914 was pretty cool if you'd pull off some of that body kit.
  13. Well, they have a couple of advantages. One being if you want to run a double roller timing chain, you HAVE to have one. Don't have to grind the front pin down on an aftermarket cam w/ the vented opti. These cars can get heavy. Tinman and I weighed my car at Norwalk. 1/2 tank of gas, sporting the ET Street on Centerlines out back (about 10-15 lbs lighter than my street rims/tires), and the car without anyone in it was still 3640. Mind you that the only weight reduction on the car is !AC, !Rear Seat, !Spare tire, and I've got a HEAVY 6 point cage, nitrous bottle, very heavy subframe connectors, heavier than stock 12-bolt rear end, stereo system, etc. I think the car was in the low 3400 range stock. You also have to remember there are a TON of things on these cars you can do to them to drop weight......I just haven't done any of them.
  14. - QX4: I haven't even sat in one, so I can't really comment - 4 Runner: IMO, these are really nice SUV's. My biggest complaint has always been their price - Expedition: They have never done it for me, I don't like the interior very much, and just seem so insanely big without a purpose for being that big - Tahoe: Pretty nice, doesn't feel as big as the Expedition. I'd go for the Tahoe or 4-Runner. But those are two totally different kinds of SUV's. For me, the only reason I'd want a Tahoe is because I'd use it for towing; otherwise that's too big for my needs.
  15. 30 over, 40 over?? Did she have to get re-sleeved?
  16. Pretty cool short film; very well done for what I'm betting was an extremely small budget. Of course the Alien would have killed Batman right off the bat (pun intended), and the Predator would have also finished him off in short order. Let alone several Predators and a few more Aliens.
  17. There are plenty of fast LT1's, and they are also a good basis to build on. Yes, the LS1 has a couple significant advantages (block choices and head choices). But your average LT1 in good running order will put down 250-260RWHP stock, and can sneak into the high 13's bone stock. The fastest stock style suspension LS1 is only about a tenth quicker than the LT1 as well. As far as years go, 95 is the good year to get. Vented Opti w/ OBD-I PCM.
  18. OHC motors have been around forever too; nothing new about them either bub....nor is there anything new about factory forced induction motors. LT1 not muscle? Don't tell this guy Because he will prove you wrong Again and Again Not Modern or High Tech? What's not modern about it? Pushrods are still alive and well, and they are no less modern than OHC motors. Reverse cooling design, optical distributor (sucks, but is still modern), decent PCM good for safely into the 9's in most cases, gernally good intake design, good flowing heads for a stock 23 degree casting, etc. No less modern or high tech than the other motors I'm sure you think are modern. Yes, the LSx series motors would be considered more modern, but there isn't anything antique about the LT1.
  19. The only reason I'll fix it is I hope to sell the car this winter/spring (I want something newer/nicer/significantly faster for a summertime daily driver). Don't want to sell some f'ed up car to someone.
  20. Lou at LG (who did the dyno; I read the original thread the info came from) said the torque managment program that they have been using on the LS2's is even worse on the LS7 motors. What does this mean? Once the LS7 Edit software is out, removing the torque management from the PCM should have a BIG impact on the power to the wheels. Forged pistons + forged rods + forged crank = happy with a 250 shot I bet.
  21. GMHTP of Columbus GM High Tech Performance for those of you not familar with the magazine.
  22. Mine is a Craftsman, got it years ago. They definately sell that size and much bigger.
  23. Maybe he likes to play in the mud?
  24. Yeah, I really lucked out. I was expecting far worse after I hit them. When I hit a deer several years ago w/ my Blazer, I totally screwed it up; $4800 in damages. Of course I hit that dead on at 50MPH too.
  25. I was driving home from the new girl I've been seeing, who lives out in BFE. I'm crusing along at about 60MPH on a back road. I see eyeball reflections in the ditch; I immediately pour on the brakes. Well, ABS kicks in, but I was only able to slow down to about 20-30MPH. 3 freaking deer are darting towards me......I hit two of them. They sure did have a surprised look on their face as they were being pushed out of the way. Well fawk, that bites the big one. I get out, check for damage, couldn't really see anything in the dark. I get home, and find the following: http://cofba.org/users/nitrousbird/Mustang/Cracked%20Hood%202.JPG Cracked hood. The paint chips were already there (car has over 205k on it). The chips aren't as noticable in person, but the crack is. http://cofba.org/users/nitrousbird/Mustang/Cracked%20Headlight.JPG Small crack in the headlight housing. Also blew out my high-beam on that side. Typical POS Ford fogged over headlights. http://cofba.org/users/nitrousbird/Mustang/Pushed%20in%20Headlight.JPG Headlight is pushed in a bit, but is in there solid. Probably bent the mounting bracket. Though the car has full coverage on it, the $250 deductable isn't worth it. I'd rather just replace the headlights (needs them anyway), and find a junk yard hood in the same color.
