If you spend something like $400 or $600 in a month (tracked on your card) you get .10 or .15 off per gallon for a little while. My parents have had it happen once or twice in the past year. I must eat too much.

I'm slow and it took me 1.5hrs total to take everything apart, will go back together quicker. Granted this is the second one I've done on this car and I have air tools (helps A LOT). Took it into Carquest at 1:30 and they said they'd have it done in a few hours. Will have it put back together tonight. It's worth it to me, but then again, I don't necessarily like other people working on my cars if the job is something I can do. -

Hehe, just trying to bust your balls. This is just generally speaking. You need to remove all of the bolts that hold the Knuckle to the suspension and get the bearing pressed in and out. You might also need to get the spindle pressed in and out of the bearing. I'm doing a rear one on my S4 right now and am going to take the knuckle to carquest. I took it to NAPA last time (did a fine job, but they are $10 more than Carquest). $35 at carquest and $45 at NAPA (iirc, it's been a while, but it was like $40 or $45 bucks). The Napa near 104 and 70 does it and the Carquest on Silver Dr. does it, I know that for sure. Most places that are specific machine shops might do it, but will probably be more. You can find a hydraulic press if you feel frisky and try to do it. I will be doing it on my Talon, but I need the S4 done ASAP and don't feel like redoing it if I ruin the bearing pressing it in wrong. Most places can get it done in half a day anyways, so it's not much of a wait. If you can find a hub tamer it will be cake, especially on the non-drive wheels of a car. This tool can press all of that shit in and out without needing to take it, the knuckle, off of the car. A friend of mine will be buying one of these within the next few weeks that I could use but my car was getting too bad to wait on it. Also, if any of the bolts are adjustments for suspension (tire) geometry, mark them with something and try your best to line them back up when you put it back together. There’s only one bolt on the rear that bolts to the knuckle in my car that controls the camber, luckily. I’m confident that I can get it back together correctly, but am still going to get it thrown on a rack to check it once I’m done. You can find a hydraulic press if you feel frisky and try to do it. So what they are saying is that since people are getting fatter, why not just change the scales? Joel, alot of that has to do with body/bone structure (small, medium, large). BMI doesn't take that into account and is a horrible indicator for how 'healthy' a person really is. Obviously you have a large body (muscle) and bone structure so you are going to weight more than a smaller 6'1" person, assuming all other things being the same (body fat %). I probably would be considered a medium build for my height. I probably have around 10% body fat, maybe less (just a guess), weigh 165 and am 5'9". I just happen to be the stereotypical candidate for the BMI, sitting right at 25. But if I were a big guy and had the same body fat%, I'd be considered obese by the BMI standards. Body fat %, lung capacity, endurance, strength, blood pressure, cholesterol levels; these are all things that typify a 'healthy person' to me. The only thing that being in better shape in any of these things, or anything else anyone can think of is going to reduce your risk of developing certain health problems. I think it's pretty obvious that the opposite can also be said. But you could still be a 'healthy' person that is at a higher disposition, just because of genetics, than a person who is not 'healthy'. It’s only going to help you in your certain situation. You will also feel better mentally and physical all around. If someone can't see the benefits of not being a fat lazy ass, then let them be that way.

I need someone to press the spindle out of the bearing, then the bearing out of the knuckle. Or some advice on how to do it. I have a hydraulic press, so pressing the bearing out, back in, and pressing the spindle back in is no problem. But when pressing the spindle out, as far as I understand it, I need something that is the exact size to fit inside of the bearing, but be big enough to get the spindle. I don’t think I’ll just happen have something that exact size. I took it to NAPA in Grove City last time, but I feel the charged way too much (~$40 IIRC). This is for a 2000 S4 btw, not that it should really matter (unless someone has some die sets for a press that would fit it). Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Someone needs to tell the rent-a-cops in the shopping centers we used to street ride (BMX bikes) this. This one old crazy fucker used to pull wrist rockets and knives out on us to threaten us to leave. I somehow don't think he should be allowed to do that. He never did anything other than call the police and lie to them, telling them we had guns we pulled on him so a helicopter would be there 5-10 minutes after we left. All for riding bikes. redface.gif Most of the people that worked the lots we went to were cool though, they would usually just come back and watch for a bit, then go about their business. graemlins/thumb.gif

Damn, I wish I made enough money to get taxed that much. At a 25% effective tax rate you guys made a total of 160-200k. If it's only 20% (I would guess you're closer to that), it would be 200-250k. IIRC that's post pre-tax withdraws too, ie insurance, retirement. I'd be doing a lot of graemlins/doh.gif too if I were you. tongue.gif

You would think for 4k, let alone 20k (which it sounds like you've owed in the past), they should be able to better construct the roads. Maybe I'm just getting pickier, but it seems like the newly constructed roads have been getting worse over the years. Also I drive a ton (30k in 1.5 years on my S4), and I don't know of one spot that has been fixed from the winter potholes since it's gotten nice out. They should have construction teams on a retainer for when it gets warm again.

I can't complain too much. I net owe something like $73 dollars. Owe $2xx federal and am getting back $1xx from state. Although this is the first year ever I won't be getting a significant amount of money back. Last few years I remember getting back $900 and $700. That's only because last year was the first year I've had one full time job the whole year and made a decent amount of money, so like I said, I can’t complain. My parents owe ~$2k. They didn't do anything different, but they went from 3 dependents last year (03' taxes) to 1 this year (04' taxes). It should be an iteration of the last generation of that vehicle. A good version of retro is something that looks modern with styling cues from the old car. Bad retro is when they try to make it look like a modern version of the old car. It just doesn't work. Those are just generalizations too, I'm sure they could make either one work or not work, but the retro cars that have come out recently look horrible. I'm also going to stand by the fact that the new mustang will not outsell the old average if they sell this body style for any more than three years. After that they better go to an iteration of the 00-04, or maybe even the 94-99's. Sort of swaping back and forth from boxy to round to boxy to round over the generations. That's a hefty bill considering how many they are going to sell this year. Sales will slump in its second year and in its third year will be abysmal. They might be able to scrape by a fourth year, but I don't think it's wise. Ford better have the next mustang on the drawing board already. Retro cars are a fad and people buy them in droves at first because they are 'different'. Then when there are 200k other cars like yours sold in one year, and you've lived with the car for a year, it becomes not so different. Write this down and put it in a safe place, I bet I'm not too far off.
