  1. That is rare. Everytime I go in it takes over an hour for an oil change, even when no one is in front of me. I've had people that come in after me leave before me, all because they strip my car down and bring all my air filters to the waiting area. Then they leave all the stuff from my glove box on the passenger floor. That shit drives me nuts. Plus I pointed out that both front shocks were leaking when I was in for an oil change. They said, oh you're at 37k miles and the warranty was only until 36k. We'll replace them for $xxxx.
  2. This is why i hate our Nissan dealership up here. My wife had a 2.5l Altima and they forgot to fill the engine back up with oil. They sent her on her way and when she started hearing a ticking noise she found her dipstick was bone dry. Dealer didn't do shit. She traded it in the next week for another Altima, so now I still have to deal with these worthless fucks. They cross threaded her lugnuts too and I had to bitch up a storm for them to do anything. I want to get rid of this car so bad, just so I never have to go back.
  3. There are obviously exceptions to every rule. I can only speak, and am only speaking about the people I know personally.
  4. I work in the auto industry and I'm on a car forum. I'm used to everyone being an armchair QB by now. The comment I made stands true for everyone I've ever met that smokes/d. They've all had some level of depression that's only prolonged by a continuous habit. Then again, I live in Detroit and this is what we do. Talking about food desert's, there is no chain supermarket anywhere within the city limits. The only thing available is corner stores or markets. The Detroit Home Depot is one of the highest grossing stores in the nation, partially due to the fact that they expanded their selection of household goods at this location. Meijer is about to move back into the area though.
  5. The downsides far outweigh any benefit you may see. Still not sure what you would consider "beneficial" other than maybe a calming of nerves. I think that people that get enjoyment out of smoking are at a serious low in their life. I find them to be easily influenced people that get no enjoyment out of life and are fighting depression.
  6. This has bothered me for quite some time. Where is the fiscal (or even moral)responsibilty? If they weren't getting government assistance would they quit smoking or would they starve and continue to smoke? I see this all the time at the grocery store and gas station. People that can't afford to fill thier tank or feed their children, but they buy smokes. It's upsetting.
  7. As I understand it, this is a track tested figure, not a calculation.
  8. That's one of the few DP cars that actually looks similar to the street car. Nice work.
  9. This is why unlimited hill climb cars rule.
  10. If I were to buy another, I would buy a coupe and keep it forever. But the convertables are a lot cheaper. 2.0L Coupe Manual http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=294921833&dealer_id=66074073&car_year=2009&systime=&doors=&model=SOLSTICE&search_lang=en&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=__Y291cGU%2C__&keywordsrep=099111117112101&highlightFirstMakeModel=&search_type=both&distance=0&min_price=&rdm=1321111656876&drive=&marketZipError=false&advanced=y&fuel=&keywords_display=coupe&lastBeginningStartYear=1981&end_year=2012&showZipError=y&make2=&certified=&engine=&dma=DETROIT_NE&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&body_code=0&isFlashPlugin=true&transmission=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&color=&address=48094&sort_type=priceDESC&max_price=&make=PONT&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=1154&standard=false Coupe, Auto http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=298781836&dealer_id=66240801&car_year=2009&systime=&doors=&model=SOLSTICE&search_lang=en&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=__Y291cGU%2C__&keywordsrep=099111117112101&highlightFirstMakeModel=&search_type=both&distance=0&min_price=&rdm=1321111656876&drive=&marketZipError=false&advanced=y&fuel=&keywords_display=coupe&lastBeginningStartYear=1981&end_year=2012&showZipError=y&make2=&certified=&engine=&dma=DETROIT_NE&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&body_code=0&isFlashPlugin=true&transmission=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&color=&address=48094&sort_type=priceDESC&max_price=&make=PONT&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=990&standard=false 2.4L COupe, Auto http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=295792194&dealer_id=66112449&car_year=2009&systime=&doors=&model=SOLSTICE&search_lang=en&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=__Y291cGU%2C__&keywordsrep=099111117112101&highlightFirstMakeModel=&search_type=both&distance=0&min_price=&rdm=1321111656876&drive=&marketZipError=false&advanced=y&fuel=&keywords_display=coupe&lastBeginningStartYear=1981&end_year=2012&showZipError=y&make2=&certified=&engine=&dma=DETROIT_NE&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&body_code=0&isFlashPlugin=true&transmission=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&color=&address=48094&sort_type=priceDESC&max_price=&make=PONT&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=196&standard=false 2.4L Coupe, Auto http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=c&car_id=305693098&dealer_id=70478&car_year=2009&systime=&doors=&model=SOLSTICE&search_lang=en&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=__Y291cGU%2C__&keywordsrep=099111117112101&highlightFirstMakeModel=&search_type=both&distance=0&min_price=&rdm=1321111656876&drive=&marketZipError=false&advanced=y&fuel=&keywords_display=coupe&lastBeginningStartYear=1981&end_year=2012&showZipError=y&make2=&certified=&engine=&dma=DETROIT_NE&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&body_code=0&isFlashPlugin=true&transmission=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&color=&address=48094&sort_type=priceDESC&max_price=&make=PONT&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=652&standard=false
  11. The GXP is worth it IMO. The early years are more problematic, but they fixed some of the problems in the later models and the GXP. Before the GXP none of the Kappa's had TCS or ESC, afterwards (so I think that's the 2008 MY) they all got it. It's a good thing to have on a car with that short of a wheelbase. All cars have an alignment problem of the rear clamshell "trunk lid" to the body. Some are worse than others. The 2.4L's take boost well, but you have to spend more in order to upgrade it. There are 450 HP 2.4L's out there...but there are also 400-450HP 2.0L's that got there much easier. When the GXP was introduced they came with a backbone brace that stiffened the chassis and tied the trans and rear diff together. Before that there were a lot of rear diff problems. The GXP's also got a different suspension and stiffer rear brace, different transmission ratios, different front bumper with brake cooling ducts (which looks better IMO), and dual outlet exhaust. There is very little cargo room in the convertibles, but one friend commented that he thought the passanger seat of my Sky was roomier than his S2000. The coupes are baller but you'll never find one and you'll pay more for it. You can get a fiberglass coupe replica top though, if you want. The 2.0L takes mods well. There are people up arond 400 HP with just a turbo and intercooler swap and a reflash. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

    New Car

Normally I would agree with you, but I just saw my buddies 3rd gen on FB and it's changing my mind about 3rd gens... ...not sure if I can link to them....built for road racing.... http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/298539_2089876807394_1259436146_31819516_1243623636_n.jpg http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=2084061542016&set=t.100002115114144&type=1&theater http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/251470_10150349362569050_501889049_9978515_6239789_n.jpg http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/391519_2621329255512_1323600593_33031946_1196921645_n.jpg

    SEMA 2011

P.S. This car is a friend of a friend's. He sent me some pics last week and it's absolutely SICK. He took great attention to detail and has been building it for quite some time. It's got an LS3 crate motor with the "hot cam" package. http://www.semadigital.com/netpub/server.np?find&catalog=catalog&template=detail.np&field=itemid&op=matches&value=3889&site=showvehicles11&image=_MG_0878.JPG&make=BMW &model=3 Series&company=&product=&show=SEMA Show http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h92/mallard1055/_MG_0878.jpg

I hate to say it, but the V8 Genesis Coupe is pretty clean.

    Survival theory

There's a show on History right now about Zombies that basically goes over survival theory.
  17. Too many doors, too few cylinders. But should make an underwhelming, boring, extremely average, reliable daily. Hopefully the horn beeps when you hit the key fab, or you could lose it in just about any parking lot in Columbus.

    Survival theory

I see that as going hand-in-hand with the SHTF scenario. As population grows we become more dependent on the infrastructure. Any interruption to this supply chain (food, fuel, good, etc) could cause more widespread panic and more competition for the limited resources available locally.
  19. Good write up. If you're looking at something that small why not test drive the new Chevy Sonic? It's peppy, tossable, comes with a manual, and so far has gotten high marks. Did you look at the Cruze Eco too (the only manual Cruze available)?
  20. I think it's just geared really high. If he has 7 or 8 speeds in that gear box he could probably get off the line quicker.
  21. +1 Amen http://i2.cdn.turner.com/money/2011/10/26/news/economy/occupy_wall_street_backlash/frank-decker.top.jpg
