  1. This is what I was going to say... check for damage to the pinion seal and extra play...
  2. I miss my 5.0 fox coupe more than my first car- Now that they are cheap (LT1 Formula) I am tempted to buy another just to do the things to it that I didn't know how then- but I already don't have time for the projects I have. It was not the same car it was when new with 70k miles, had its share of issues and was very hard to work on. When I totaled it from a hydroplane the insurance paid me without having to sell it and get worked over by someone- so to be fair it is different than my mustang which was almost perfect and truly badass and I had put a lot of money, blood, sweat, and tears in that car from bone stock, and I met the new owner, and there is nothing like that mustang sound... and and and... oh well My c5 z06 I bought to replace it is amazing but I still miss that old car dearly... would I trade the z06 for a 5.0 car? Never! But I will buy another foxbody coupe again I can almost guarantee it. If I didn't have the vette I would be more upset than I am.
  3. +1 the cam was the only thing I wish I didn't do on my supercharged, heads, cam, intake, full exhaust fox and it was a pretty mild one... well that and ditching the tailpipes and dumping the exhaust to fit bigger slicks... both got old fast for a daily.

  5. Beat on the inner door skin near the speaker with your hand... very common problem. Mine has done it twice and came back both times after some elbow grease- search corvetteforum for more details
  6. Well I had nitrous on my lt1 f-body. Had a supercharger on my 5.0 fox body. I didn't like nitrous for several reasons. The low end torque is unbeatable but try hooking it to put it to use. I despise recurring charges and 40 bucks a shot for like 5 quarter mile passes drove me crazy. Bottle was never open when I wanted it to play around and remote bottle openers leak. Bottle warmer and gauge was also a pain and ruins the spontaneity. Jacobs nitrous mastermind was a royal joy to install and never worked properly. Finally the car feels Sloooooooooooooow off the bottle so it is very addictive. I loved everything about my supercharged except for the initial cost but afterwards it was soo worth it and I am a practical guy. If I were to ever modify my c5z it be with an ls7 or more likely a supercharger kit. I actually was going to buy an a&a kit for the ette when i found the gremlin instead. For the gremlin I am going to give turbos a try one of these days.

A z51 c6 vs c5 zo6 road race comes down to the driver with a very slight edge to the c5z in regards to weight power and feedback
  8. Nice! I like the backup light blackouts! Did they make it harder to see when backing up?
  9. I don't know whats wrong with you guys, I like it! I think the chrome would be too much for silver though... Anyone know where I can get that product in gold? I would like to match my brake ducts as well, what paint would you recommend for the rubberized plastic that wouldn't peel? Kevin?
  10. Are you being serious or dramatic? My history is poor please let me know what you know- Are you saying DARPA went bankrupt?
  11. Didn't Reagan propose a "Star Wars" program IIRC? Setup a laser defense/anti-nuclear defense over the united states and let the rest of the world deal with their problems themselves?- Whatever happened to that?
  12. Z06. My dad has NEVER taken the top out of his 08 coupe. On the c6 I don't think it would be that hard to take the top off if you really wanted to and swap a removable one in there... but you are giving up some of the torsional rigidity that was engineered in by making it a frc. I know a few guys that converted their c5z's back to convertibles. But as has been said before unless you are going on a road trip on some windy road where you don't have to stop you will bake in the sun... If you get the grandsport and change your mind later it will only cost you 14,500.00 for that LS7 from jegs + tax and labor. BTW considering your potential resale down the road it is interesting that they cost the same with 2 less years of depreciation and 30K less miles with the only difference being a few cubic inches...
  13. Agreed- which is why I have only been twice and I don't plan to go anymore- with my two small kids it isn't worth it to commit a whole day for such a small amount of run time. If I had nothing better to do during the day sure but I am booked to the hilt. Sean was kind enough to point me in the direction of the pca events but last year was so hectic with some work we were doing to our house and a new baby I didn't make it out once to even see if it was better. so yes if small enough group I would be interested-

Technically its a 5.67L ;-) If you want to look at it that way then the ls1 is just an upgraded generation 1 sbc period the end. A Saleen SR351 is just a mustang, and ZR1 is just an old teardrop 57 vette with some carbon fiber. The z06 never has been and hopefully never will be a stickers and show marketing gimmick like the SLP f-bodies from the 90s (with exception to the 92 firehawk). Another good read for anyone considering one of these cars- this one details all of the differences: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-z06-discussion/1187875-c5-z06-frequently-asked-questions-faq.html Am I biased? Yes- very...
  15. Does a supra have a backseat? if you want to compare apples to apples you should really be looking at the 3000gtvr4/stealth/fd rx7/300zx/c4 vette.

I may be mistaken but I think you are referring to a stripped down fixed roof coupe...? I always thought that a base c5 can weigh 3300-3400 lbs? A good article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Corvette_C5_Z06
