  1. well- what controls mid rpm advance? Maybe the vacuum advance that came with it is bad... it is very crappy in the midrange but if you can power through it it runs pretty good... decent down low as well.
  2. Yes. Not the 14K I originally hoped for but even in this market I think I did ok- just took a while. Thanks AJ I will let you know!
  3. Not the powervalve :-( Could mixture cause this rpm window of crapiness? Changing distributor monday.
  4. Well all, I finally sold my 5.0! The quite happy owner drove it back to Indiana this afternoon... kind of weird now that its gone but I am glad I didn't have to part it out--now for bigger and better things.... Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for reading! Andrew
  5. yep thats what we think as well- we are changing the power valve today.
  6. as of right now we dont need anymore players as we are good for the 7v7 team- I will let you know though how final numbers come in.
  7. Not bad gas. Filled up rear tank with Shell and same problems. Pulling distributor next.
  8. Is there anything close to fab up a sort of stage 8 header bolt fastener to lock them down?
  9. What do you think caused the fan to go? Excessive G-forces on the bearings? 1.35 60' is a hard pull. Have you checked the wiring/amp draw maybe your voltage regulator circuit is off and overdriving it at high rpm? I would be surprised if it was random... If it were my car I would fab up an aluminum grid to stop it before it hits the $$$ turbo impeller again. looks wild though!
  10. All interested parties have been emailed or pm'd.
  11. Ok guys here is what we have done so far... 1. Swapped out dura spark ignition module for another. 2. Checked fuel pressure on both pumps to be around 3.5 psi- passed 16 oz in 10 second volume test as well. 3. Vacuum as tapped into line going to vacuum advance, 20 inches at idle, drops with increased throttle/load to about 5 psi when it runs really crappy. At 0 vacuum at WOT it seems to run much better 4. We have run one tank empty so we are now going to get a new tank of gas (possibly bad gas?) 5. New spark plug wires, plugs, cap and rotor 6. Verified that choke is not randomly closing off the carb.... we have not manually rigged it to make sure but when we stop and remove the air cleaner it has been open. We are hypothesizing that the new distributor we got is bad internally or we have the wrong vacuum advance module that came with it... the weird thing is that it is intermittent though. It is also possible that when we removed the smog pump and tried to redo the vacuum lines we hooked a source somewhere that it should not be but you would think the problem would always be present as well. We may have to go with a race carb to fix this.... Damn this sucks- we need this truck to haul equipment- may have to bring it to the pros with an EGT or engine analyzer.
  12. hah I am down for that name- very clever- anyone else?
  13. No word from Sam or GMG I am going to fill out the form with the list I have now early next week or this weekend and start collecting payments or directing people to soccer first to make payment... if we dont get payments in on time oh well maybe next year. What do we want to be called ?
  14. I apologize I have been too busy lately to read the forum and drum up more players... It looks like we have more than enough now for a 7 person male open team at soccer first on thursday nights... Sam/GMG if you guys would like to be put on the roster let me know by PM'ng the following info: A)your columbus racing name B)full real name C)email address D)contact # E)age (drivers license may be required) F)male/female G)location preference H)self-subbing is acceptable YES/NO I)How many substitutes you think would be suitable for either a 7 or 11 person team? Unfortunately, as it sometimes turns out, confirmed private messages can be different from paid players- which I am sure anyone who has ever organized anything will agree.... Here is what I have so far I will wait on Sam/GMG's reply and then I will check if people over 30 can play in the under 30 league or vice versa and then we just need to pick some colors, team name, and collect the money and we are good to go. Konig_twinkies Iceman Cobra Rabbit Z06G Stimmel jfiveeight Medium Fast Mr. Wright Miller hpfiend Allmotorcivic1 Let me know, Andrew PS deadline for Soccer First is July 23rd.
  15. Was this to me? I could care less if your ws6 is faster than his 350z or vice versa. I was posting my own driving experience and what I have read on corvetteforum from actual open track results to add to the discussion and in support of a guy who posted his cool new car and you guys jumped all over his ass telling him how much of a piece of shit it is.... I would personally buy a 350Z over an LS1 f-body 10 times out of 10 but I have already had 2 f-bodies and been down the drag racing road and am bored with it- the cars are built for different purposes- the 350Z is a sports car the f-body a muscle car. Regardless, what would be my motivation to lie- I have never met you or ogertla and probably will not in the near future. As has been stated- the 350Z we messed with could have been modified- I have no idea. And btw the LS1 is not god. A LS1 f-body is a decently quick car and a pretty good platform to modify other than the difficulty to work on it and the sad excuse for a rearend, but its all relative. My sister's SS felt like a heavy , slow revving, underpowered turd compared to my blown 5.0 after I got back in it to help her sell it.
  16. A 350Z track edition will hang with a base C5 on a road course in the turns. The C5 will pull from it in the straights with its extra displacement but they are about identical in their handling capabilities but the C5 has more of a bulky feeling and the 350Z has a more "tossable" lively feel. A f-body doesn't have a chance in hell against one on a road course. Sure you can modify an f-body to hang with one but stock for stock they are not even close and all of the modifications to make the f-body handle are a direct compromise for ride quality- A live axle, even if it is a 3-link (after adding a panhard bar), and the fourth-gen f-bodies do have SLA (short/long arm) front suspension but it is not going to be as comfortable or forgiving as a front and rear double wishbone setup. Put the same money in the suspension of the 350z and again no contest. FWIW we ran my sisters bone stock 99 LS1 A4 SS against a 350Z on the freeway years ago and they were dead even- pretty impressive for 2 less cylinders. I don't know if it was modified or not but it sure didn't look like it.
  17. We need women first.. But yes we do need two solid color t-shirts and shin gaurds to play if we can get the right numbers Orion that is why I did not include you on the list as you had mentioned you could not play in dublin. Unfortunately with the numbers we have we cannot field an 11 person team and there are not 7 person teams in westerville.
  18. Ok it looks like we will be playing coed open on Tuesday evenings at Soccer First. My wife is down, Mr. Wright seems to have a female lined up, we just need 1-2 more females and we are good to go if the guys that expressed interest are able to play tuesday evenings at soccer first in Dublin. Here is the tentative list. Konig_twinkies (M1) Konig_twinkies females pending (F?) Iceman (M2) Cobra Rabbit (M3) Z06G (M4) Stimmel (M5) jfiveeight (M6) Medium Fast (M7) Mr. Wright (M8) Mr. Wright's female (F1) hpfiend (M9) hpfiend's wife (F2) Goal: 8-9 Males 4 Females. 7 Players on field, 2 must be female, 1-2 female subs, 3-4 male subs Please let me know if you would like to be removed from the list if I have made a mistake. If this doesn't work no biggie- we will shoot for indoor as we have more than enough tentative interest for that.
  19. So that the thread does not lose momentum I will comment on the results today.... Unless we have a major surge by tomorrow evening it looks like the only way we are going to make it work is to play a 7 person coed open league at soccer first in dublin on Tuesday evenings. The westerville league doesn't offer a 7 person league in our age group and we only have 9 males that have tentively expressed interest with 2 specifying interest in the westerville league only- We need 2 women on the field at all times, 1-2 woman subs and 2-3 male subs. Therefore we need 7 or 8 guys and 3-4 women. I think we may have the guys covered with the location conflicts but we need 3-4 women. My wife said she would play to make it work. So we need 2-3 women and we can make a team anyone's wife/gf want to play as well? Experience is not necessary just a willingness to run and try to kick the ball in the right direction ;-) Let me know- otherwise we better shoot for indoor first season. Thanks to everyone that has expressed interest thus far!
  20. Thanks guy- I have a line on one already but if it falls through I will def let you know...
  21. As of right now we have 0 girls signed up- so it is looking like a male team but I will let you know after friday.
  22. Thanks for the private messages guys- things are coming together... I am going to leave this open until friday before posting results IE 7 or 11, coed or male, what location, and what cost to be paypal'd to me or check directly to our chosen organization if you are more comfortable that way. For clarification as far as location to play the options are Westerville or Dublin. I apologize for making that vague.
  23. If its not clever I would leave it plain jane or you will attract unwanted attention from metallic objects when parked... heres a few I just came up with. GAS SVR (watch out for the greenies) MISTRSS or MSTRSS or some other variation MYMRTGE AMORTZD SMPLEMAN AVLABLE or SINGLE or to keep the wife happy MARRIED or some variation(if you are) or even better HERS DVRCEE (if you are married but not for long) GUDLIFE
  24. that header manifold is pure sex- did you make that? Dunno about the gauges covering the temp and gas gauge... nice car... whats it run? I hate to say it but people are going to beat up on you and walk away because of that little bit of surface rust as sick as it is- apparently throwing some cheap ass 300 dollar paint job on there to cover it people actually prefer... I guess it is ignorance as 13-18 year old cars that don't have any rust are either cheap paint-overs, arizona cars, or haven't been driven and are bound to have all sorts of mechanical issues from sitting. There is surface rust and there is core rust. I have not seen yours in person but from the pictures it does not look bad at all.... all these people talk about california cars--- haha they may not have it on the roads but they have MUCH more in the air- you should see what happens to the stuff my parents store in florida.
