  1. how many miles on the catted pipe? Aluminized or Stainless?
  2. Take a jumper wire for that fpss and a gauge when testing and tuning. Mine must have been defective as when I put a 150 horse kit on my lt1 formula it would kick in and out.. looking back though it could have been injector lock up Here is a page I made a long time ago (before digital cameras) for hiding a dry 5176 kit on an F-body. http://geocities.com/motorcity/1920/nos.html
  3. If my car isn't sold by then count me in for either location with some solid 11 second passes...
  4. lol like 95 percent of the list shell 93 or rarely sunoco 94. I used to work in a german import garage in town and whenever there was a vw or bmw that was acting up and they couldn't figure out why it was almost always bp gas. porsche used to put the shell logo on their engine airboxes.. Not saying I would risk losing a fuel pump before putting bp and running it dry but at that point I would put grocery store gas in (in this situation I only would put 2 gallons or so in until I could find a shell or sunoco.
  5. Call me a wuss but I wouldn't lift anything with that I couldn't lift by hand. It looks like a good bump would knock the whole thing over even if it didn't collapse.
  6. I am aware of that. those look a little bulky to get in tight areas and the picks may be able to serve the same purpose but be more versatile.
  7. Is this car sold? Does it have the 8.8 or 7.5?
  8. couple different sets of disconnect tools gearhead? Where did you get them from? Dave- thanks for the offer- I may be getting a set of high quality craftsman picks instead.
  9. Its would bet you succeed- I wouldn't want it though- the limits of the stock shortblock are around 400 rwhp at 6000 rpm. I would keep that baby below 5800 and say a prayer.
  10. thats what I was looking for- now I just need to flag down a truck- thanks!
  11. Hey all, I know I saw in one of the many magazines I obsessively peruse a tool set made especially for disconnecting weather-pak and other automotive harness/plug connectors with the plastic snap clips without breaking them. I have been using a small screwdriver and prayer for years but there must be an easier way. Do you all use a set of quality picks or where did I see this? Thanks! Andrew
  12. Believe it or not but it will be warm outside again ;-)
  13. hah benz guy- yeah I have looked that way as well- thats actually how we found out about renegade hybrids and who we bought the conversion kit from to put the 4.3L Vortec V6 into our 1977 924. The "kit" was an absolute POS and we basically had to start from scratch- Turned out alright but all of the "fun" was gone. No more swaps for me- I can hotrod what was factory designed to be in there. I have looked at a few LS1 240SXs that are already done and ls1 rx7s to boot but there is almost always some compromise with a swapped engine. That said, I would like to put a 3.2L or even one of the newer 3.6 or 3.8L flat sixes in a 914 using the factory 911S parts they did with the 914-6 but it would cost a fortune in a car that rusts faster than you can drive it and would be harder to recover costs in than my highly modified 5.0 mustang. The 914 my parents had, the torsion bar broke sitting in the garage as it rusted all the way through- this was in 1976 and it was only a few years old. Don't even try to jack it up without some spare parts on hand.
  14. sweet- I am getting excited now- please let me know how far off 36 on klondike- my parents live out that way. I may have found my next project. Maybe not the most practical approach but between the two cars (my 5.0 and a mr2) I would have an awesome straight line car and an awesome car for the twists as well- or I still could get the c5z and have both in one but almost 30 grand used is tough to swallow when I am used to no car payments. dunno what the wife will think though of 3 maybe 4 cars (with a xj cherokee) with a two car garage- may end up with the Z after all... -
  15. aha I forgot about the mr2---- what about the prior coupes? thanks for your response
  16. cool- so an 88 fiero gt or formula will run with a porsche 914 eh? Are they problematic cars? Rust issues? Don't see very many at the scca classes is why I ask--- bunch of 914s. Spaceghost - was your 88gt suspension stock to take cloverleafs like that? v8fiero what have you done with the suspension on your 85? hmm- I am intrigued.
  17. Had a '96 LT1 car- six speed, cold air intake, ported MAF, 160 t-stat, 4.10 gears, b&m ripper shifter, CAGS, exhaust dump, and other minor stuff- best of 13.9 on ET Streets, broke the rear end twice dumping that baby at 5 grand trying to eek more out of it. Probably ran that thing 50 times in the 1/4 Sister had a 99 SS LS1 car, A4 100% stock ran 13.7s on street tires listening to the radio and had never been to the dragstrip in her life. The 8.8 rearend in the stangs is reason enough to go that route- Figure 1500-2 grand in the f-bodies for a 12bolt or 9" (not sure if they figured out abs yet or not(been out of the scene for a while) if you want to reliably run that much power. if you go with a 99+ 4.6 or a 5.0 it shouldn't be too hard to keep up with an LS1. Also I know you know this but the 1987 to 1992 5.0 mustangs were all forged (love nitrous) 93 they went hyper like everyone else...
  18. Hey all, My parents swear the porsche 914 is the best handling car in stock form they have ever driven due to its mid engined layout. They have had audis, 924, 911s, vettes, and autoxed in the porsche club for years... however as they have such a rust problem I am afraid of them... the fiero also has a mid-engined layout but read on wiki that it had chevette parts on it and it was not engineered to take advantage of its layout? I know there are a few of you on here that have them or have had them- just curious as to how they feel in stock form with fresh parts... Thanks! Andrew
  19. hehe I know that and we are quite capable of doing this- fortunately we do not need the truck on a daily basis (heavy equipment/cattle hauling) and it is WAY too cold to do that outside and the barns aren't warm enough either...
  20. Just put new front brake pads, rotors, and wheel bearings on it.
