    Guitar Help

to all the list guitarists... how in the #$#@ do I play this? ----- high E --2-- --2-- --2-- ----- --3-- Low E I understand where the fingers are supposed to go but A) how do I strum/pick/pull this clearly and B) what fingers should I be using where? FWIW it is from a guitar pro file of the river by garth brooks My best guess so far is to barr it across the second fret with the index finger and play the low E with the 3rd finger- tough to transition though from what comes before- is there an easier way to figure out fingering?
  3. Sort of off topic but I can't believe some people are willing to install used internal engine parts anyhow!!! I was over at another shop and someone was paying to have a used camshafts installed. The labor costs on these parts or the PITA involved if you are doing it yourself is NOT WORTH the money you are saving if they are damaged/wore out/ or wrong/ how many of you would pull out perfectly good camshafts, connecting rods, pistons, etc if something catastrophic didn't go wrong with the engine.... if someone is pulling it out of a junkyard motor, how do you know what that engine went through, if that guy isn't installing the parts in his engine do you think he is being as careful as he should be with those fragile machined surfaces, covering rod bolts with rubber caps, etc... IMO not worth the risk.... But again- there is no excuse for some of the issues that were discovered. Also as someone else astutely pointed out- the customer is not currently in the country, he is in IRAQ.
  4. I got mine off ebay as well- UMI performance... uppers and lowers...
  5. Thanks- carbed 460. We managed to get in there with a right angle dremel but even with less than a mm left they still wont turn out- we broke one EZout and had to drill that #@%#@% out too.... Trying left handed drill bits today.
  6. I would agree that if I were lucky enough to ever have a daughter or kids period there would be no cameras or computers... I think that video is a fake though- "father" figured it out a little too quickly what was going on...
  7. Hey all, What turned into a annoying ticking sound (exhaust leak) has turned into a nightmare- One of the exhaust manifold bolts had rusted away- the others broke off in the head except for 2 or 3 when we took the manifold off the head. Anyone ever had any success with a right angle dremel adaptor and a tungsten carbide grinder bit? Cannot fit even a right angle drill in properly, and we are leaning towards pulling the intake and head to repair... Germain wants over 800.00 for a new manifold if we can't get this last air fitting out... FWIW anyone eliminate the air pump system on a 1987 F350 before? Thanks! Andrew
  8. I like the salad at spageddies. I could give or take the rest, stromboli isn't bad..- but the salad is really good... we often get it to bring to parties.
  9. yeah man whats wrong with you- dont trade a stang for a dsm.... Id get an older subie (AWD) turbo before a dsm. oh I know get a nissan 240sx- we loved ours and they are pretty cheap now. We had an S14 but I bet the S13s are nice as well...

    FS: 1967 Camaro

Are those mirrors the original 67 style they look different to me.
  11. FWIW- why do you post under dave's name? always disturbing as I have met dave and I always think I am reading from him....
  12. thanks all, I am going to read all about this covered call strategy- it seems intriguing after a quick scan.... Vegas on steroids from the comfort of your own desk.
  13. Hey all, Curious to know if anyone on here has ever played options in the stock market... or baby options at hedgestreet.com Always been tempted just too ignorant too practical..
  14. only the buckeyes and naked chicks get this much response, this quickly in columbus ohio
  15. >>>>I just started my new job this week and it is soo fantastic.<<< hehehe kind of like the boat analogy- the happiest days in a man's life with a boat are the day he gets it and the day he sells it. ah call me a cynic.. On topic--- Wife went to tratorria la tavotta or whatever its called on riverside, not a big fan. genji has very good food but terrible service. And this may piss a few of you off but in my opinion Hyde park (even the arlington location) is overpriced, too stuffy, and not as good as, stoney river, Mitchells (before the sale) or the refectory. Better than smith and wollensky and ruth chris in my opinion which is a bad thing because ruth chris bought mitchells so I likely wont be back. hmm.. I guess my favorite steak house is stoney river not cheap though. I like Jasons. Not outrageously expensive but not cheap either, great selection, great atmosphere, great food. I would agree you can't go wrong with the iacono family (Iaconos and Tommys) or Max and Ermas. I do like spageddies in hilliard and yes yyou are right oties is nice as well (love the dollar drafts)
  16. if I only had 24 million and the license to use it....
  17. Force is equal assuming same mastercylinder/caliper diameters and same applied pedal pressure. Stopping distance is a different thing.
  18. hah I had never seen it and I dug it! Thanks!
  19. Hopefully I can finish my rear seat delete in my fox, take some pictures and get it up for sale to get my c5 z06 before next years season. Looks like fun... Can't believe the base c5 is in the same class as the c5 and c6 z06.
  20. Take it back to stock. Sell all of your parts on eBay/here- keep the car. The z06 is one of the best all purpose cars ever made. If you don't get distracted by all of the sexy high horsepower, crazy looking, seemingly perfect cars in all of the autorags featuring modified cars you will notice it is actually more common of a thread then you would originally believe of people admitting put loud that the net enjoyment of their car was higher when it was stock. This thread itself is proof of that. Sure a low 10 second pass is much more of a thrill then a mid to low 12 second pass but there are tradeoffs for those few seconds of joy.
  21. I will go against the majority and say turbo. Engine swaps are always more difficult and more expensive than originally planned, and even if done sucessfully often result in a car that is much worse than you originally started with as far as reliability/cooling/handling balance/longevity/etc. Exceptions are cases where two engines were available from the factory like the 4 cylinder and v8 mustangs, v6/v8 f-bodies, etc and even these are not as easy as people make them sound.
  22. >> If you hire a kid that goes to church every Sunday, gets a 4.0 in HS, doesnt drink, doesnt smoke, and only wants to work about 20hrs a week, 999 times out of a 1000, they are going to be damn good at the job if you teach them properly.>> This is very true for an employee that will do exactly what they are told and only that, maybe slightly more depending on the paygrade- as academia teaches us so well. And they will leave you as soon as a better offer comes around, and it will, as everyone is looking for these types of on-paper employees. I would agree that the friends factor is generally a good predictor more times than not. I would rather hire someone with a 3.0-3.3, with obvious confidence, superb communication skills/charisma, natural business sense/street smarts, and honesty. Over time, I would pay this person well and give them responsibilities as soon as they could handle them- build a partnership/friendship so as not to lose them. these are the employees that will bring big money in for you and for themselves. The 4.0, non-smoking, non drinking, bible beater hasn't experienced enough of life to be persuasive/relate to people/grow a business. In academia you are not rewarded for thinking outside of the box, questioning authority figures, or having any sort of independent thought in general- how many books did you not even read but get A's on papers by regurgitating what the teacher told you the book was about? I guess this is why I liked science. I went to catholic schools (church included) in middle school, had near a 4.0 in HS (drank a decent amout/never smoked), graduated cum laude with honors in molecular biology and got a masters degree in molecular genetics. I am big enough to realize that I missed out on a lot of development in my quest for high grades and high acchievements in the academic world. This is one of the reasons I married my wife- she has these abilities and while she is an outlier in the gpa category (HS valedictorian- this is only because of where I met her) Most people with her abilities I have met over the years did not have a 4.0 gpa. And to the OP- I think the consensus is right- it is the paygrade- you are not going to get top notch applicants for the job if it is indeed "lube bitch". And to the fellow with the nick in his record- occasionally bad things do happen to good people and unfortunately you will be discriminated for it- I would say work your personal network and build your resume to overcome that one deficiency.
  23. For the RIGHT buyer the car could bring 100K, say the shell was his original car he took to prom with his gf/now wife that recently tragically died of cancer. He is a partner in microsoft and has a few billion dollars in his name. He would pay whatever it took to get that car back for a remembrance of the good old days with his wife. Hence why I suggested put it in barret jackson or hemmings- more likely to find that RIGHT buyer than on columbus racing/ebay/autotrader/racing junk. If you can be patient and do not need the money at all for 5 years or so you could probably pull it off. I just feel the average car enthusiast would rather buy a brand new z06 corvette with a 100K mile warranty and though depreciating some sort of predictable trade-in value after a few years for 75,000.00. I am in a similar boat to you. I have a fortune sunk into my 5.0 mustang and it is killing me to face the reality that I will not recover that money when I sell it- I want a z06 corvette so bad it is sickening but may keep the fox so I don't take such a hit- true you are a certified mechanic which helps but most people are afraid of custom/modified cars. When I bought my coupe I was looking for one that had modifications of flowmaster mufflers at the most. I wouldn't trust the average guy to install valve stem caps on my car let alone install a supercharger or worse heads/cam/intake himself without knowing his background/experiences. We all know @!#$ can happen in these shade tree projects. Thus as performance parts depreciate very slowly themselves, guys are forced to part out AWESOME cars to recover their investments. As a car enthusiast and a columbus racing member I really hope you do bring the big numbers in on that car! One thing that may change the market though is that I really suggest you sell this before the sub 30K 2009 Camaros come out.
