I agree probably not gonna see one that large in Ohio. The biggest I've killed was easily 5 inches long and I could hear it running around on the wood floor. I jumped out of bed hit a light switch and was hoping to mess with a mouse. I almost peed myself when I saw that thing. I've seen many more 2 to 3 inch ones, but that monster was my record. My Dad and grandpa saw a spider that they say was as big as a dinner plate under a barn. It was the only time I've seen either of them run from anything other than a snake. We didn't know what was going on, but they both backed out of that hole fast enough to know it couldn't be good. Evan

I'm not attacking anyone on here personally so cool down just a little. I don't know any of you so I can't attack anyone in that maner. Well I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of college grads do not make as much as you seem to think. The only exceptions for higher paying jobs are the people who get into a profession such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, even alot of business grads don't make that kind of money for a long time. I bet if we all went to class reunions from HS and laid out tax forms on the table you'd see what I mean. 10 years out the doctors are just graduating, but I can tell you they are making far more than most any of the others that went through 4 years and have had the rest of the time to build job experience and hunt around for a good paying (to them) job. Of course on that same note I bet we might see that doctors don't increase in salary nearly like the others can. I agree I hope to hell a person that puts that much work into schooling could make alot of money. I just don't agree that they have it rough. That was the point I was making. Also I'm sure that a great number of those 1000 who signed up for pre med really truely knew what they where getting in to. I'm sure its hard schooling and if its not it should be, but saying that about 11.2% made it through only has meaning if 100% of them were giving 110% effort. I was kinda hoping this would go more towards healthcare instead of doctors and salaries, but I guess I even hijacked my own thread:-) Thanks OSUGT for getting us back on track.

"Oh BOO HOO I"m a poor doctor that had to go to school for at least 8 years and I only make 100 to 150K per year and I have all these school loans." Thats just a bunch of crap. Loans can get paid off. Its not that big of a deal and I'll trade any doctor straight up right now for that problem. Lets seem them deal with making 20K per year and dealing with loans, kids, all the same problems. Its ratios. I'd rather have to spend 70% of 150K to live and have the 30% remaining than 70% of 20K and have to manage with the remaining 30% of that to enjoy exsisting and I know you all would too. I agree healthcare is cutting edge because there is money to be made. If there weren't I'm sure it would be crappy as hell just like Canada and Europe. I also agree that healthcare is a privilage, but ain't that mean:-) I guess poor people just shouldn't get sick. Oh and any illegals found trying to get medical help can get free treatment, but there payment is that they should be shipped back home. They should be greatful that they got sick/injured in the US and got to live. That should be enough for them and they should just stay home. hehe I'm on a mean streak:-) Oh and one more thing. Most people who get a 4 year degree still never come close to making 100K per year at their jobs with most starting less than 30K per year for there first few positions. Evan

Its cute that you stated that there will never be a housing (price) bubble like then again. If I have to I'll post the housing vs income chart for the last 150 years. This is just another low point in the cycle. Just driving out of columbus from downtown on high street you can see the grow rings of the city. You have its founding and then you get into the victorian era and then back to alot of small close together houses again. Then you hit another round of larger homes with garages, yards/land scaping, and privacy and then back into slightly smaller ones again before hitting the modern day 2000sq ft+ homes. My first house in westerville sold over 30K new then hit an all time low of 19K before steadily rising after early 80's. I bought it for 108K and sold it for 128K 5 year later at the top of the climb. That area of westerville its sad to say has probably seen its highest point and now those homes are getting pretty small and old. Cycles are Cycles. If I wanted to make extreme profit I probably should have sat in an apartment for another 1.5 years or so and then built my next home, but at least I got a great rate and built up in Marengo where I can already see more sub divisions being installed so I'll probably make out okay in the 5+ year time span unless we have something really bad come up. LJ is right on the money, but I'd like to add that Columbus's "something different" that he refers to is basically the news stories people are hearing about the real price bubble that is afflicting the coastal cities. Prices will be fine here once people forget about the news and just buy something. Evan

Yeap its a wolf spider. Also known as a lighting spider. They are preditory and once you get one over 2" long they will run out to attack your foot until they realise your attached to it. I hate those things and right now my barn floor is litterally crawling with them. My wife uses some type of gallon spray bottle stuff that makes them all come running out of our house and they usually die about 1 foot from the foundation. Not dangerous, but they will leave 2 small bite marks that will make you itch for a day or so. Oh and I read that they can grow to 13", but I bet thats rare. Or at least I hope it is. Evan

I"m with Ron Paul, but I know you can't eliminate the government jobs there would just be way to many people without work at that point. Maybe eliminate the positions as people retire or something. Though I'd like to just have the president give them an email one day stating that they can all go home. I see no need for the huge complicated government that we've created over the last 100 years. As for Rudy and the others they get my vote if there nominated. Except for McCain. I'm sure that guy is a democrate. Not a liberial, but a democrate. Evan

Wow I didn't expect to hear an argument like that. I don't believe you. Doctors live in New Albany and drive nice cars. I have a hard time believing any factory worker makes that much for real since if they do they must be dumbasses or something. There always bitching and don't have crap to show for those paychecks everyone is always talking about them getting. Okay back to health care. If its true about doctors then how do they pay off there college loans and move on to the top of the middle class if not higher. Sure they don't end up in the top 5% richest group, but they don't have to worry about money either. I agree though that I think the system steals most of the profits, but I can also tell you that my sister in law is a nurse and I do her taxes and she started out at riverside doing over 70K per year and actually ended up more like 80 to 90K after all the over time they get forced into working. I hear hospitals make a boat load and I guess OSU is expanding a huge amount over the next few years. Proof is in the hospital expansions all around us. I guess is just sucks that people profit from helping people get well, but what else do you do about it? Giving it away for free would force the government to regulate how much doctors would make. Basically making them a normal low end middle class wage and probably causing quality to go down at least for a little while until people who want to do the job get in and the greedy assholes get out. Evan

Its been in the news lately and I enjoy reading what the CR members have to say. So what about it? How does the US handle the health care stuff? I don't know about "socialized" health care as the key, but I know I don't got any better ideas besides capitalized health care, but thats just mean:-) Evan

I'd never even consider a condo myself, but I just don't see any value in them at all. If you can buy a house or a condo if you must then definately buy something. As you say markets are in a cycle and will improve. Probably 5 years from now you could sell either and probably get your money back. If you list it yourself you might even make $5 to 10K to take with you. The bottom line is at least your not throwing money way to an apartment and honestly the cost of keeping a home running isn't any more than just renting anyway. Its possible, but highly unlikely that any major things would go wrong in 5 years. Maybe you could buy a place on a nice deal in this market that just needs some TLC to look nice. At the moment only the very best condition houses are going to sell at all and that leaves alot of room to work on the ones that need some minor work. Maybe remodel a bath room or kitchen over the next 5 years and then it will be one of the top condition houses when its time to move again. Thats what I did and my house sold in 1 week because it was exactly what people were looking for and required no work to just move in and enjoy. And in my opinion it sold for way to much for that area and size house, but I guess thats a good thing for me. Evan

Of course I didn't factor the others in. I was simply stating the fact as the fast was stated. Nothing else, nothing more. Of course there are more houses, but since there is a 7 month supply of "new builds" there is basically no point in buying a house that is 10+ years old that is also in a sub division and all that. Of course if your looking for an acre or more and maybe some unattached buildings and stuff then thats different. I do see what your saying though and yeah the people I talk to are pretty sure we haven't even hit rock bottom yet and are looking at at least 2 years out before prices can stablize. Of course changes in any number of things could effect that time line in either way. I agree with the superhawk here. its the buyers fault for not understanding that their loan payment was going to double or triple after a number of years. Wow I just built a house and read the whole contract. Of course it helps that my wife sells loans too, but I don't think I'd be that stupid anyway. I guess everyone watched "Flip this House" and got greedy:-) I even have a buddy that bought a $250K house and he makes like $12 an hour. Thats just pure BS right there. Evan

Basically in Central Ohio houses aren't selling because they don't have a good agent selling them. I know an agent right now that is so busy with closings its just silly. He has been in the business for a long time knows how to sell in any market. Alot of guys trying now are noobs that could only sell them if they sell themselves. They don't know jack about fitting clients with a home. Also everyone keeps hearing prices are going down so they are holding there position waiting for the sellers to break and start bringing the prices down. Once all the news clears and everyone forgets we have a little mortgage problem people will begin to purchase houses again. At least thats what we're thinking on the investment forums that I'm on. The national association of realtors just released their numbers and at the moment central ohio has a 7 month inventory of new builds. I'd say get in and buy now or in the next 2 years if you care to get in at a good price. Central Ohio is still one of the only places in the country still growing in population at a good rate. Its just not like it was 3 years ago, but still not bad. Evan

Give me a yell if you ever need an Enemy Territory guy. Evan

My brother learned from just enjoying it, wanting to learn and getting guitar magazines. He was pretty good last time I checked. Hell I even messed around with it a little, but I'm no artist by any stretch, but could see it as a pretty easy instrument to learn. Evan

I can see why people would be chased out at night. Its a pretty good drop from the tunnel to the creek and its rocky. Not a good place to try walking around safely. I know of probably 7 total furnaces some of which are along the trails my 4x4 club runs. I've only seen hikers and site seers at a couple of the sites during our 4x4 runs. I'm sure the areas have been picked over by others over the last 160 years, but who knows what could still be hidden. I also know of some abandoned towns within the Wayne National Forest lands northeast of Marietta that could contain artifacts. I've only been to them a couple of times, but I do have the coords marked on my USGS maps. It would require a group of extremely modded 4x4's, hikers or ATV's to access them though. They have been abandoned since the Roosevelt days and his National Park polices just to give a date. The roads leading to them are still considered township rights of way and are legal to motorized traffic. Its just not recommended in a group of less than 5 4x4's for safety. Evan

Also there's Moonville Tunnel near Lake hope. Its one of ohios Haunted sites so you never know what you might find that was dropped by a spooked visitor. Evan

The old iron ore furnaces that are dotted around vinton county could possibly be a good area. Maybe you'd find some civil war era items. Evan

Not sure if gearhead was being serious or not, but a obstruction wrench sets are actually sold. I got mine at harbor freight because I love that store for stuff I won't need alot. They are designed with a curve in them to allow them to fit around things that might be in your way. Especially useful getting to the rear manifold bolt. For about $8 they sure do save alot of cussing and wasted time. Evan

get an obstruction wrench. I've found they are great for manifolds. grind one side flat if you have to. Evan

Funny I have directv and never get stuck in a contract. I don't lease the equipment though. I always buy it at circuit city or where ever when I feel the need to upgrade.

Just use RAID and don't be a pussy the good can has a range of like 15-20 feet. Thats a tiny nest and I've used RAID on hornet nests the size of basket balls without much trouble. Though I did have to get out of the way of a few of the little bastards. Evan

Wow. I've never been off the trail there myself, but good to know what will happen. Thats still nuts, but I guess they got there reasons. Evan

The job market is doing just fine and basically anyone that can't find a job at the moment doesn't want a job. Don't argue with me about that one check it out for yourselves. Really aside from the media attempting to scare people about the sub prime crap the economy is still doing great. Evan

Its probably good that he got away. If he was caught and his injuries were "bad enough." He'd probably be able to get you for something stupid because we all know the dude probably has a record of this sort of crap and would be let go after a few nights in jail. Oh well theres always tomorrow night:-) Evan
