  1. I"m probably going to buy a new toyota truck within days(assumbing the dealer can actually find one I want) Anyone know how much a dealer is usually willing to deal on a car or do they pretty much give you a price to take or they will just get someone who will? Evan
  2. lol what electrical? theres 3 wires and only 1 of them is even required to keep the engine running. While were talking. As you know my truck idles alot. actually 90% of its offroad time is spent idling. I'd like to have a good bit of oil pressure at idle and have saw on message boards people mentioning that that can be done by adjusting the oilpump pressure relief valve. I'm not sure where this is, but would it be in the oil pump? I'd replace the oil pump with a high pressure unit, but thats not what I need. I would just like to think that when I'm crawling over something I'm not starving the engine of oil. At least having an auto in it. its not going to be idling over many obsticals anymore so that always helps. Evan
  3. Thanks guys. I don't really need any cleaners with kerosine in them since my engine probably dumps enough gas into the oil to do the same job. Its next to impossible to seal a carborated engine well enough to not drink water/mud when fully submerged so I guess I'll just clean it the hard way every time I do it. Or just say fuck it since 350's are free or cheap anyway. Evan
  4. my small block in my toyota offroad truck sees alot of mud and shit and I'm checking with you all to see if there is anything I could put in the oil to clean the engine internals out pretty well every once in a while to keep it flushed out. Evan
  5. If anyone wants it its at my house so PM me I'll get you directions. Yes its a free truck so it comes with free truck problems. Rolls over starts then dies. tranny don't sound great when rolling the truck in gear. that could be a clutch problem, but I would suspect the trans. Frame is rust like an 86 would be, but probably not unsafe. needs cab cleaned out and some inside stuff fixed if you really want to. If you want it and can't move it. I can haul it for you so no problems there. Evan
  6. I talked to my dad on the phone and he says he hasn't messed with the ignition for awhile because the injectors run so much that they fill the entire cylinders with fuel and also fill the oil pan up completely. Very dangerous hehe Evan
  7. I would assume my Dad checked that it is firing. that would be one of the first things an old mechanic would do, but who knows. They are comming to Columbus to visit me for a few days so maybe I'll get more information from him then. Thanks for the help so far. Evan
  8. keys lost there programming? You mean like the key that goes in the ignition? sorry for sounding ignorant, but I am pretty ignorant about the new types of electronics in these cars and and especially ignorant about ford cars. If the keys are special then that could be the problem because my brother is pretty dumb and the car probably doesn't even need keys to start. He's probably already lost them and has a ball of wire hanging from the colum. Evan
  9. hmm are you planning on putting plates on the vehicle? If so then yes it would need inspected. If your just selling it between parties than I wouldn't worry much and let the next buyer worry about making it road legal. Evan
  10. Sorry I can't give much more info than I've already got. I've not seen the car its over 2 hours away at my parents house. All I know is what my dad has found which is that the injectors for constantly and fill the cylinders. Is it possible that what he thinks is alot of fuel is actually just the cold start circuit and he's not waiting long enough for the fuel to shut off? If so that could be leading him down the wrong diag path. If in fact the injectors are constantly firing what would cause that? I'd suspect either the computer or a shorted connection. Oh yeah and it will not start probably because the cylinders are filling with gas. Evan
  11. wow no one else? Evan
  12. My brother has a `98 Ford Contour with a 2.0L DOHC 4cyl engine that is having problems. My dad has been working on it for him and he says that he found that all but 3 of the injectors are firing constantly when the key is in the ON position. I haven't looked at the car myself so I can't give alot of specifics. My dad hasn't worked on much of the newer cars. I told him getting trouble codes would be a good start, but thats not a possibility at this time. Any ideas? He was kinda thinking the computer is bad. Not sure. would the cam sensor do this? I don't have alot of experience with the ODB-II cars either. Evan
  13. I'd visually check to see that the fans are running when the temp is high enough. T stat could also be causing fans to not run. depends where the temp switch for the fans are. if there on the engine and the water is hot on the temp switch then the fans should turn on. if its in the radiator and water is not flowing then the fans would not turn on. Evan

    Mud drags

I've talked to a few people around town about mud drag races that happen up at a pit near Utica. Anyone know about them or know there schedule? I'd like to check it out sometime and maybe throw a little mud. Evan
  17. Wow graemlins/gay.gif I can't wait till someone shows up to my club rides or meetings with that stuff on there jeep. Evan
  18. Wanna help me out with some tires? I'd pay a shop, but last time it cost me $26 just to get 1 unmounted, the dirt cleaned out of the bead and reinflated. I have a bead breaker, but its still a shit load of work to swap tires with hand tools. They do not need to be balanced either. they just need to hold air somewhat. Evan
  19. Hey cool. I'd rather it be a place where its known that the land owners don't care, but I'll take what I can get just to put it in 4wd and check things out. How likely is it that I'd get into any trouble there? I don't mind a drive I got a tow rig and trailer. I just don't wanna cause any trouble. Evan
  20. I finally finished my toyota/chevy hybrid truck. Anyone have a place I could take my truck to to put it in 4wd and see what happens? I didn't get to run it any before I moved it up to columbus since the exhaust was still off and I didn't feel like catching the woods on fire. I don't wanna take it to one of my clubs trail rides and find out that stuff don't work so any ideas? Just some dirt or a field or something would work fine. Evan
  21. I need some tires mounted if anyone wants to do it really cheap or free. I don't want them balanced or anyway just put on wheels. They are 34" super swampers for an offroad only truck so they don't need anything special. Evan
  22. Nice to hear the car wasn't hard to get working. Evan
  23. have one of them hold a finger over a spark plug wire while someone cranks it. If they jump and whine like a bitch its getting spark. If not then you know where to look. Evan
  24. Yeap. Never use bolts to move the engine and tranny together. if its not going your not strong enough or its not lined up properly. Evan
  25. lol I've done the u-pull-it/u wrench it route before with a buddy for his s-10 blazer. after about 4 transmissions we finally found one that worked. Evan
