  1. Sometimes the fuckers can work together. https://www.npr.org/2021/06/08/1004600001/the-senate-passes-a-bill-to-encourage-tech-competition-especially-with-china
  2. I'm surprised there's been enough selling of AMC so far this week to keep the price going sideways against the interesting news in that video and other news over the weekend. It's kind of telling that without the pump this thing will crash.
  3. Beyond simple fundamentals in companies daily business activities meaning good companies have increasing value, psychology plays the biggest role in the markets with a lot of the value assigned to stocks being perceived value at times especially surrounding news so it's very easy to manipulate.
  4. I know the mad money guy Jim Cramer has been suspected in pump and dumps on his show. Usually in the world of penny stocks someone buys them for weeks months in 100k share lots for nearly nothing so that the volume doesn't move and then they pump the stock and start unloading their position to the unsuspecting retailers. I've seen them get small media involved such as stock news outlets or even just have the stock itself in on the deception having them put out well timed press releases etc. These are true penny stocks trading at thousandths of a dollar. I have the suspicion they are applying the same principles to a much larger scale involving these trash companies in trying to sell noobs on the idea that they're going to squeeze the shorts and force them to "buy to cover" their positions which will then further the price up however that's not how it works, and the game is controlled by the institutional investors to a large degree and they're not going to go bankrupt by being on the wrong side of a bunch of retailers.
  5. Lol I saw a headline on that. Wonder who's making the real money on these pump and dumps via social media?
  6. That's only news to people who don't know better. Just like buying dips, shorters short peaks to average up their positions and in this stock shorts are gonna make a lot on the way back down because it's a shit company with shit fundamentals and extremely over bought technicals so in a matter of days we might still have highs but in the end the stock will head to the basement again which is perfectly predictable in this case as soon as the "hype" is past. Now very short term I bet that news will cause some people to buy Monday and think they are gonna hold several weeks and get rich which won't happen at this point but they might make some money if they buy Monday and sell same day or a few days later in the peak. Beyond a week or two they will have held to long most likely because it's all hype driven and their are professional manipulators working this one. GME was a sort of surprise attack and now the enemy has had time to figure out their strategy for this the next one.
  7. I may start intra day shorting it since its pretty clear that the stock is in a decline and still massively overvalued. The only annoying part is that news is gonna keep breaking on it over the next week for sure which could push the price up temporarily at any moment.
  8. Personally I'd take the profits, you can see a large sell off yesterday which pretty much marked the end of the run up. Or you can just let it go and who cares. The idea of a "short squeeze" sounds good to the uninformed retail trader, but anyone who's been around a while in penny stocks or otherwise will know that the institutional traders that the squeeze is suppose to work against have several means of getting the price they want through legal market manipulations which amateur's aren't gonna understand, ie trading the stock between themselves making it look like volume and lowering the price of the trade for a while until they shake the tree enough to scare off the retailers. Thats just one simple method there's plenty more and also the company itself could decide to take the opportunity of high stock price to get lending through junk bond offerings or dump shares onto the market both of which will hurt the price in the end, but will keep the company going for a while longer. Good moves for a company with fundamentals as bad as AMC. Did anyone actually look at their data? No wonder they are a short sellers dream and even more so now with the huge run.
  9. I think your right there, JIT was a concern to me when I heard the term a few years back and now we've seen how that works out when even small things effect the system.
  10. I think I remember a few other republicans trying tariffs. I remember something about Bush and peaches lol. Its interesting that republicans are the ones trying to push the economics back to the US (at least on paper) and the democrats are the ones who undo those tariffs and push the economics elsewhere even though the unions pretty much universally support them. It can be said that both sides voting bases are blinded by their own ideologies. This is something that has been annoying me more as I age.
  11. I do realize its more complicated than simply "computer chips", and my point since you missed it as usual, was that things could and should have been built here for decades, we did lead industry post WWII since most of the rest of the world was in ruins or undeveloped. Its just annoying that we didn't bother to solve our factory problems with technology and instead just shipped the work to places that amount to slave labor. Unions do get blame, I grew up on the Ohio river with 90% of my relatives all union. I also watched as union workers sat outside of plants for decades with their signs protesting, (I bet they are still at Ormet near Hannibal, OH with their little camp.) Politian's always promise to "bring back their jobs", fuck that just keep any manufacturing within the confines of the US. There will always be a subset of the population who can't work for wages worth earning, those people could probably be supported by the robots by now if we would have bothered to do it. But, maybe its global social engineering at work. I guess to the big boys it would be much better if we can slowly update the rest of the world to the point that they all buy toilet paper and cell phones rather than have 20% affording it and 80% starving. I think all sides have good points and the issue is a massive one, so big that nearly anything we say will be correct to a degree, but still not the whole picture.
  12. It's crazy that we've been talking about this exact problem with China since at least the early '90s and no one's bothered to do anything to curb it. Computer chips are a perfect example, why can't those be made here? I'm not thinking a Chinese dude is over there making them. We can't have advanced robotics? I guess that would make the unions angry lol. When I walk by the shelves in the beach themed shit stores here I think why is all this shit made in Asian countries. There's no reason CNC machines can't cut out a bunch of this wooden shit and paint it all beachy right here in the US.
  13. I was just discussing this with my wife when I heard that our water parks can't get lifeguards this year. They are usually 15-16 year old people and I have been trying to figure out what happened because here we don't have anything else someone that age could do except fast food anyways.
  14. Ugh yeah I got a few of those too, one just finished a year of middle school, FML
  15. I'm still here. Maybe its lame, but this forum is a place I visit almost daily to keep entertained, informed, and provide unsolicited feedback;-) Last few years I've moved near Myrtle Beach, SC and decided to try self employment. Here with all the commerce I'm really just an IT handyman so I get paid good to do stupid shit out at business locations, ie hotels, restaurants, etc that it would cost way to much to fly someone out to do. Been fighting some type of autoimmune sickness that docs haven't figured out yet so thats been annoying, but I'm as stubborn an asshole in real life as I seem like I am on this forum so I've been improving. Lately I've been planning to begin switching my career over to full time day trading, since I have a ton of free time I do it on my slow days already and hopefully I can get completely out of IT work and its been a very long goal of mine since I was a teen.
  16. Seems like all the news in the past 5 days has been to prop up the prices. I wouldn't be surprised if someone huge has been unloading to bag holders. If the most recent sideways price action would have happened without all the news then I'd say we have found bottom, however the decline was news driven by Musk, Cuban, China and then firms so my gut feeling is we haven't reached bottom and will see further decline through the next month or two as summer rolls in and naturally slows the markets.
  17. I ended up thinking about and researching it for months and decided that I'm gonna use the garage and any floor I do is gonna get damaged over time for sure so I cheaped out and rolled on a natural look sealer. Worked out fine and oil spills have already been wiped up easily so I'm happy.
  18. That's looking pretty good man. I haven't gotten back out to do anything in mine. my daughter's have been keeping me busy so I've been clearing brush in my front yard and now the weather is getting hot so I'll be inside or on the beach until fall lol. I have been doing light maintenance on the cars and it's great finally having a good functional place to do that.
  19. I've been surprised that a top richest person in the world, Elon Musk, would bother himself with market manipulation. I like the guy and his SpaceX and Tesla ideas and follow them very closely. I guess maybe he's seeking attention, though that's kind of crazy and could land him in hearings at the minimum and some jail time at worst. Maybe he's going for the biggest loss in a stock ever for the LOLs?
  20. I must have missed it, but whats all this anti Asian hate stuff I've been seeing lately? I've been seeing a notice under the google banner for awhile and today I see some bill was signed about it.
  21. At least this creates a situation where one could find a bottom and get in long. I've been involved with trading for over 20 years and something that still seems amazing to me is that for every buy there had to be a sale so two different people can look at a stock and see different outcomes. This is making it seem simple because there is still other variables but it's still fascinating. Luckily the buyer and seller don't know each other and market makers move the internal pieces around for us. I learned never to average down as well especially if something had a big run and I bought at the top because you can expect the price to settle mostly to where it was before the run if there was no fundamental reason for higher value.

I was riding my bike on the beach today and was thinking I should just go get one of those, then I decided to post to see if I'm missing anything important.
  23. I signed up on a crypto trading platform however I don't have the balls to try to scalp it and unfortunately there wouldn't be any money in it anyway, no where near enough volume to make money on the spread. That's one of the reasons you see the charts make huge gaps every few days, someone tries to buy or sell a large volume and drives the price up or down. I just don't have experience or luck with swing trades so I stick with what I know lol.

What should I get? I really don't need expensive, just ability to pull codes and reset them. Anything else useful? My old one at least 10 years was just a USB and it doesn't play well with my new laptop and was extremely basic etc.
  25. In case anyone is interested TD Ameritrades trading platform, "Think or Swim" is totally free and is one of the best platforms for trading unless you move to something custom. They have a paper money option which is very useful for testing and learning and it's real time data though you have to request access to that data via a support ticket. I use it for my scalping/day trading and It's way overkill for long term investing. They also have a mobile version which is very detailed.
