  1. TIL I'm a monster-swilling flatbill
  2. You can probably sell that thing right now for $500 more than you paid. Inventory is super low right now. Beautiful truck. Do they come with the KDSS, is it an option?
  3. Sadly it's in a fan enclosure, so I need to get next to/above it and unscrew the cover before getting to the bulbs. thanks though! EDIT: and once again Brad comes through for me, close this fucker up!
  4. I'm a little late to the party, but I live in a 2 Focus ST household. I factory ordered my 2013 ST2 in Feb 2013, since it was delivered at the end of March of '13 I've put 67k on it and I'm still loving it. The early ST2s don't have a lot of the available options the later models do. My fiancée has a 2015 ST3 that she loves. We got hers @ end of model year so there was 0% for 72mo on top of some cash rebates. I will say I prefer the partial leather seats on the ST2 compared to full leather. She loves the heated seats and steering wheel. I think the later years went away from the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires which were dogshit and only lasted me about 16k miles. When we were shopping for her we also looked at Cooper S 4dr, and WRX. Cooper was nice but a terrible value proposition (I refused to consider buying it, only leasing). WRX was a fantastic value but overall just more expensive, and the lack of hatch option ultimately killed it for us. FoST was just a fantastic all around value, and we had the benefit of already having lived with one for a couple years so we knew what we were getting into. PM me sometime if you want to come check out our cars side by side to see the differences in model years and trims.
  5. Anyone have a 10foot A frame ladder I can borrow? Live in Grandview, will provide beer and gas money to anyone who can deliver one for me to use for about 30 minutes this weekend. Need to change out some lightbulbs in a fan/light. Only ladder I have is way too big to bring inside. If you have one but can't deliver, still reach out, I might be able to borrow a buddy's truck. Thanks in advance
  6. That's probably an indication of the aggressiveness of the previous owner's driving habits
  7. Tesla, though backed by a billionaire, got started with about that much money. But Tesla was planning cars that were 20x as expensive, with new and untested technology. Elio is just a modern day DeLorean that didn't even get that far.
  8. It's hilarious you say that, when I lived in Boston we had to use a sketchy CL guy. He called us the day of the move and said "I can't do it, I double booked, I'm sorry. But I did get a friend to help me out, he's gonna be there at the rigth time and i'll take $50 off what I quoted you." So yeah, if a sketchy dude with a truck from CL can scrap together a spare driver the day of a move, why can't a professional company?
  9. I'm a Joe's Jeans devotee now for "cheap" jeans, which I found there. Not that they're the only ones I have, but the fit and quality/price ratio is incredible. I usually find them for $~70 and they last forever with only minimal washing and care.
  10. I don't know anywhere that has better deals on jeans than Nordstrom Rack. EDIT: And I'm talking about good quality jeans, not Kohls crap.
  11. Not sure if Boston is an option for him, but I could probably reach out on your behalf to some friends who work/have worked at Mass General and Tufts Medical. EDIT: I also, stupidly, forgot to mention the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. A good friend of mine just lost his wife to cancer at the age of 28. He and his 4 year old son have a hell of a time ahead of them, but she requested that in lieu of flowers or gifts to the family (people had already raised $125k in a fund for their son) that donations be made to Dana Farber for the incredible level of treatment she received despite her 0% chance of survival.
  12. American Moving & Storage of Ohio Oscar Gonzalez Address 470 Schrock Rd, Columbus, OH 43229 Phone (614) 436-8080 Guy does good work, doesn't deal with BS employees.
  13. I think that thing has gotten worse recently. I live in the same area and used to drive over it daily, never had issues. Changed jobs, didn't go that direction for a few months, then a few weeks ago I was on my motorcycle around dusk and nearly browned my trousers when that bump almost tossed me.
  14. Shit, I need to see if this'll fit in my garage.
  15. Personally I would get multiple opinions to compare surgery vs therapy. One of my best friends has been dealing with back pain for years. He's in his 50s and spent 25 years in the .mil, most of which was desk work. He got surgery last year and he is a different person, for the better. He went from grunting and groaning every time he had to so much as stand up from a chair or lean over to pick up some trash, to being able to help me haul sofas out of my house. His mood is improved, his range of movement is way better than he could ever remember, and he laments not getting the surgery sooner. I think he was originally of the same mindset you are in now. He still does physical therapy but he hasn't touched a pain pill since the week of his surgery. Which, btw, was invasive enough to require 9 staples to close up, which was pretty gnarly to see. I know there are bad stories for every good story out there, but I always think it's worth investigating everything.
  16. Wells Fargo always had good rates but there's always the moral dilemma with them. PNC is a great lender from personal experience. FWIW, it's better to keep the down payment money in your pocket. If you can get a loan for 2%, and you're able to invest your money at 3%, why not keep the cash in an investment rather than dump it into a rapidly depreciating asset? You'll have the cash to cover the difference between payoff and claim payout in the event of a total loss accident, make your money work for you. I actually just had this conversation with a friend of mine who is an RIA. 4 years ago he bought $2500 worth of furniture and financed it at 0% for 48 months instead of taking a 10% up-front discount. He invested that $2500 and just made his last payment yesterday on the furniture. Total investment return? $2400. Obviously he was not taking his payments out of that investment account, but he did it as an opportunity to show what good investing can do.
  17. Repos have clean titles but often the CarFax will show repo and that scares some people off.
  18. That dipshit's keyboard has rustled far more jimmies than the Demon ever could.
  19. And find out what the cost of repair was. Legally, if costs of repair amount to greater than 6% of the value of the car on a new car, they MUST disclose it to you prior to signing the deal per OAC 109:4-3-16
  20. Be wary dealing with Lindsay. I've seen them do right by some people, and I've seen them royally screw some people.
  21. To make a long story very short, a guy I tried to sell a new car to wanted a config that was only available in Santa Monica. We weren't about to source a car from 2/3 of the country away so he went there and bought it himself. Drove it home. noticed a lot of scratches, not just swirl marks from dirty rags, but actual scratches in the bumper. He got FIAT USA to approve our body shop to do the repair. Never went quite right. After 3rd attempt, FIAT USA approved a reasonable estimate at a non-dealer bodyshop. Buyer was happy, our body shop was not, but whatever. Be firm, be reasonable.
  22. I think the bad calls went both ways this series. Way too many bad calls, and then shitty "make up" calls. Refs were way too involved in the series overall, deciding way too much momentum for both teams.
  23. Bitter End Yacht Club on Virgin Gorda http://www.beyc.com/ You know Necker Island, Richard Branson's private island that he rents out for something crazy like $40k/night? Yeah, its right near there. Often when celebs get tired of the monotony of a 100+ person staff waiting on their every need, they'll venture over to the BEYC for dinner. I've been to BEYC 6 times and it is just amazing. You can do the more resort-ish side where all the rooms are air conditioned and up on a beautiful hill, or you can do the more local style where there's no AC but the rooms are wide open to the breeze coming in through the sound. Hammocks on the decks are also a great place to sleep. There were years where I just wanted to be a beach bum and do nothing the whole time, there were others where we chartered boats and scuba trips. One of my favorite trips was a sail charter we took to an island with literally no one on it. We packed a lunch, got dropped off at the island, jumped off rocks and slept on the beach all day, then got picked up late afternoon to make it back before dinner. If BEYC isn't your cup o tea, Little Dix Bay (https://www.rosewoodhotels.com/en/little-dix-bay-virgin-gorda) is on another part of the island and may be more your speed. Much more secluded and private, more geared towards couples just trying to lounge for a week. It's where my parents honeymooned 35 years ago. EDIT: FYI You'll need a passport, it's British Virgin Islands. I also recommend booking your flights so that on the way there, you stay a night in San Juan. You can experience some of Puerto Rico, and then you can book an early morning flight to Tortola so you don't lose a ton of time traveling.
  24. Worst thing you can do to a car is not drive it, and a lot of these cars may have been sitting for some time. No way to tell either. I realize a number of these buyers will own the cars until they fall apart around the wheels. However, with VAG exiting the US diesel market, I can't imagine parts or service will be very easy or cheap to come by in a few years. I believe they're required to provide parts support for 7 years after the model year date, but it's a hard sell to have a car you know is gonna be a PITA to get parts for by 2022.
