usually there is a link on the ticket where you can watch the entire video of you going through the intersection. the camera will not go off unless you cross the stop bar at a good speed after the light has turned red. your speed has a lot to do with it. if go through very slowly, like 10 mph, the cam wont go off. yellow means slow down and stop, not speed up and blast through the intersection as it turns red.

you could build up some serious speed coming out of there lol. the turn to get 315 south to 70 east is pretty sharp too... you could also do it the other way, but the road is shittier. the joints in the freeway are crap. also, FWIW, this is not my creation. someone else posted about it on here a while back. but i may have used it a few times at 3 am

mine is low enough that i dont worry about dropping insurance in the winter. besides that i ride pretty much all year round anyway, so it would not be advantageous to drop it. had a nice little ride after work today.

i think a security system is a good deterrent, but you said yourself you are most concerned about when your wife is home alone. IMO she should really learn the safe operation of a firearm. if someone breaks in, yes the security system will call the cops, but she is pretty much on her own for the 7 minutes or whatever it takes the cops to actually get there.
