yep....I usually go fill a cooler up with bluegill from a small pond nearby and I bought a 12v pump that I run off a battery to keep them alive. In a pinch I've used goldfish but they're pricey and I've never really had a ton of luck with them. The bait by far I've had the best luck with are shiners.

going to get the kids out more this year.....we didn't go too much last year. I also want to hit the run on the maumee this year. Not a fan of the crowds and catching walleye in the river is like pulling a water filled boot up but they're damn good eating and anytime I can put a few walleye in the freezer is a good day. Another one I haven't done for a few years now is going after flathead on the Ohio. If you can catch them just right that's a lot of fun.

this thread makes me feel old as hell.....man has shit changed in the 20 years since I was single. I guess there's no more going to bars and spending half a paycheck on a girl to get her in the sack only to have her A) leave with her friends, B) leave with some other guy, or C) have the lights come on and notice you've been feeding drinks to a horse face all night. Back in those days there was more than once that I went to bed at 2 with a 10 and woke up at 10 with a 2.

Let the weather break and I'll jump in the car and take a ride out that way some weekend. The first few nice days are always booked with me taking care of everything I put off because of the weather. ps I've had my ear to the ground for a cheap quad but haven't turned up anything yet.

my experience has been that it's really dog specific regardless of breed. I know 3-4 other people that use the same box as I do which was why I bought the one I did so when we visit one another we only need to bring a collar. My st bernard and a buddy's chocolate lab seemed to be more prone to just deal with letting it shock them and then taking off after it timed out. Another buddy has a dobie and shepherd that both are deathly afraid of anything that makes a beeping sound now after being shocked once. Another friends rott and another's mix both never test it. Beagles in general are pretty stubborn dogs but I still bet it would be more on the demeanor of the individual dog as to how well it works on them.
-
I hoped that too.......5 years ago. My dog knows to stay in the yard when the collar is on but he also knows when the batteries need changed. That's actually how I know when to change them....he starts drifting further out into the yard to areas he normally doesn't go.
-
how you liking it out there so far? I was out that way last Friday on my way to Zanesville for my daughter's indoor soccer game.
-
yep....that's what I do with mine. Have one in the house and one out in the shed. They make a "figure 8" basically and where ever the ranges cross the dog can. He knows where he can and can't go. He's stubborn as shit so I got creative with the collar box....lets just say he stays in the yard now. He used to just let it shock him and it would time out after 20 seconds then he would take off. That no longer happens.

I've been out here since 2002. I'm northeast off Rt 22 and love it out here. Traffic through town can sucks balls and eating out on a weekend requires call ahead seating but other than that it's awesome.

I don't feel sorry for this guy....I feel sorry for his mom and brother who have to deal with this the rest of their lives and live with the question "is there something I could've done?". In my early 20's my best friend shot and killed himself. A couple decades later it's tough for me to think or talk about. There were signs....I just didn't recognize them. The night before he killed himself he wanted to go to dinner. I was busy with my girlfriend at the time and told him maybe we could go next week. Think about that all the time.

just rotate them every so often instead of crowding them.....that'll help keep them even. A good set of leather work gloves comes in pretty handy. You can just slide the whole rack out with the meat on it and swap them. The butt I cooked Friday came out really good. I gave them that, some kick ass beans I make, and mac n cheese hoggy's style. They should get a few good meals off that. I saw some picnic roasts at wally world when I was there the other day for $1.88.....I'm going to go back and buy 3-4 of them for the freezer. Lately I prefer to cook those over butts really. They have more prep work and cook differently but I think they have way more pork flavor than a butt.

not sure what you're looking to spend and I think someone earlier in the thread mentioned it but as far as versatility it's hard to be the chargriller duo. It's a bad ass grill/smoker and extremely versatile. The only complaint I would have are the box sizes....I'd like to have more room but for someone that's not smoking or grilling a ton of food at one time it's probably not an issue. My buddy has one that I've cooked on countless times and I would own one in a heartbeat. http://www.chargriller.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=1&category_id=1&option=com_virtuemart&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1 charbroil also makes one: http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/char-broil-oklahoma-joe-longhorn-charcoal-gas-smoker-and-grill/pid-671253

hard to mess up anything pork......pork butt or country ribs would probably be my suggestion for a first cook. I put a butt on this morning I'm cooking for the coach of my daughter's soccer team. She just got out of the hospital so I'm doing dinner for her family tonight.

Last year I started making a little different take on that. I make the bacon weave but then I use burger and put feta in before rolling it up. I slice them into burgers and put them on buns with lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, and drizzle tzatziki sauce on them. It's kind of my take on a gyro burger. Pretty decent.

had mine done a couple years ago. I almost done it myself but the risk of death is there and it was like $100 or so. I bit the bullet and paid someone else to risk their life to do it. My door had a sticker on it put there by the people that installed it so I just called them.

I don't watch the show but was it the guys that told the lies or the producers of the show?

Friend of mine has a TDI that he's having a trans issue with so I wanted to see if any of you guys have experience with them. He says when he puts it in reverse it goes in and out in and out of reverse. Doesn't that sound like a solenoid issue? He's shopping for a trans but to me that just sounds like he needs to replace a solenoid. Anyone ever done one of these? I did a little reading and not exactly sure what trans the 05's had but found a bunch of info on the 09A solenoids. If it's not that trans would it at least be similar?

my ashpans take a beating because I use the box side as a grill too on occasion when I'm grilling a bunch of food. I found some really thick expanded metal that I use on the firebox side and it's lasted a lot longer than the grates that come with the side box. I just flip it before every use to keep it from warping. I have some spare cast iron grates I'm going to cut and try in there next. The large ashpan though I just replace every few years....it's only $25. http://www.chargriller.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&category_id=4&page=shop.browse&Itemid=2&limit=33&limitstart=0

that's basically what I carry with me when I have the camper......same style just a different brand. I've gotten so much use out of that thing it's not funny. I use it to smoke with but I also use it like an oven to heat stuff back up in aluminum pans. Nice to not have to get the camper hot and be stuck in the camper cooking when I can just fire that up and put stuff in it.

the place we stay at near va beach is called North Landing. http://www.northlandingbeach.com/campingvirginiabeach/default.asp They have a fresh water beach on the grounds, swimming pool, playground for the kids, and is only about 20 miles away from va beach or even closer to Sandbridge beach which is a much more laid back setting without a crowd. There's a few other campgrounds closer to va beach but we like being out away from the crowds. We always have reservations where ever we go. I try for full hook up everywhere because it's easier and I don't have to carry water or mess with a dump station but it's not that big of a deal really if they don't. We use the camper and skip the bath houses although most campgrounds take really good care of the bath houses and they're almost always very clean. We carry the bikes in the camper because I carry my grill and small gas smoker in the bed of the truck....since I have a 5er there's not a lot of room left over. Plenty of bumper style bike racks to choose from out there. Make sure you don't just attach it to the bumper of the camper without contacting Starcraft about the bumper rating. The bumper on mine is only rated to 100 lbs and I've read stories about people losing the bumper going down the road due to racks being on them. At some point I'm going to look into getting a frame mount back there for bikes but I've also read horror stories about Lippert frames bending. I met a guy a couple years ago that put a frame mounted receiver on his camper with a rack to carry his generator and it bent his frame away from the floor of his camper. Others have no issues doing it so it would just be something I'd want to research a lot before doing. The dollar store and Sam's club are your friends....the first thing we did was go stock our kitchen with stuff from the dollar store like dish towels, knives, ect ect. I buy bulk paper plates, cups, forks, and spoons from Sam's and we stock the pantry with kids snacks from there. The more stuff you can buy for the camper the less you have to pack before a trip. We basically put clothes in the closet and we're ready to roll.

I use a charbroiler texas style. Cheap, parts can be found cheap, and there's really not much you can't do on them. Chargriller also has a nice texas style smoker. They each have trade offs. The charbroiler has a fatter cooking chamber but the chargriller's chamber is longer and seems to hold heat better. The charbroiler has cast iron grates which are awesome but the end of the fire box on the chargriller opens up so you can rake ashes out during the cook versus the charbroiler's tray system. I would own either really so it'll just be which one I can get cheapest when I buy my next smoker. The charbroiler I have now is 10 years old. I've replaced a few parts on it in those 10 years but it's hard to beat it for the price.

I've always sharpened mine and like grandpa showed me just use a screw driver to check the balance. Not scientific by any means but it gets you close enough.

what camper did you end up buying? We did Cook Forest PA one year and had a pretty good time. We go to VA Beach every year. It's a haul but worth it. The kids have a blast out there. We actually go just south of VA Beach to Sandbridge because it's a lot more laid back and not near as many tourists there.

for me it wouldn't be about the car's worth.....the first thing I would do is take those ghetto wheels off there. I don't understand the whole huge ghetto wheel thing to begin with. I'd rather have a functional wheel.
