  1. didn't the z28 beat up on the GTR recently?
  2. this is exactly why I have 3 kids.....I don't have to make these kind of decisions.
  3. towing 5k? No way I get almost 17. I average 17 unloaded combined. I've seen 23 on the highway but you can throw those numbers out because they're rare and not a true picture of what I get mileage wise. I towed my father in laws enclosed trailer loaded with some lumber and probably barely got 15 with a headwind. I have 33's and a 90HP tune. Now if I wanted to count the 2 or 3 times yes......I get 23 on the highway. Typically my DIC is sitting on 17.x though.
  4. I don't get near those with my duramax either.
  5. a tool I use a lot these days is an electric angle grinder. $10 harbor freight version too. I've used the crap out of that the last 6 months it seems. A tool I really want to get is a 1/2" cordless impact. I just can't come off the money for a good one. At some point though I'm going to break down and get one. I've used my buddies a couple of times and that thing would be nice to have around all the time.
  6. edit: nevermind.....had my facts wrong. I was thinking the child porn cop was handing out FLP tix but it was tint tickets.
  7. I read a while back that Nissan is coming out with a diesel titan for 2015 with the 5L cummins. Sounds perfect for what you need although I haven't seen any price tags for it. http://www.autoblog.com/2013/09/27/nissan-titan-cummins-diesel-originally-meant-for-ram/ I towed a 3k pound camper for a while with the 4.3L in my old ZR2 Sonoma. It did OK with it but you really felt the hills. Not the optimal situation. Where you really felt it was trying to brake. I'm not familiar with horse trailers and if they have electric brakes on them but if not and you try to tow it with a smaller truck/suv you'll definitely want to look at getting brakes put on the trailer. Makes a huge difference with the right brake controller. Personally though I would look for a larger pick up. You get going down the road in something small and run into some heavy cross winds and it'll get dicey in a hurry.
  8. I saw that the river had turned nasty for you guys. Sorry to hear that. What did the lake look like? You get a chance to go look at it? Looks like some rain early this week but nothing after Monday or Tuesday so that should give the river time to fall. We really won't even be in the river much I don't think. We'll be fishing the mouth of it from boats so the lake condition will be the most important. I'll have back up beer just in case.
  9. yeah...we're not going to be raising hell or anything but some serious beer will be getting drank.
  10. ever stayed at the state park there? I think that's where we're going to camp at. I think there are 10 of us and 2 campers going so we'll be loaded down. What worries me is the state park with all the rules and BS that usually come with them.
  11. wow....this is an eye opener. We drop coverage on the f-body every winter because it just sits in the garage. Never thought about getting in trouble for not having insurance on it. Might have to change how we do things....at least keep just liability on it I guess with a huge deductable.
  12. not this week...next week though....just read the report up there. Looks like the fishing is starting to heat up. You guys should have some luck it looks like.
  13. getting to be that time....a bunch of us are invading the Maumee in 2 weeks to try and load up on some walleye. We're going to fish from boats at the mouth of the river. Need to get my daughter out too and try to load the freezer with some crappie. She loves fishing and for xmas I hooked her up with a pfluger and a loaded tackle box. She's ready to rock.
  14. that thing is gorgeous....congrats. I play guitar but picked up a buddies bass a year or so ago and was impressed with how fun it was to play. It's an instrument I could see buying for myself at some point. I've been playing a lot lately....my son started playing the drums so that gave me a little motivation on getting back into it. It helps that he's into metal right now so we get to rock out the garage. I've been real impressed with how quick he's picking up the drums. His instructor says he's way ahead of where he should be which could just be him saying something good about a paying customer but I don't think so. He's only been taking lessons for about 6 months and can rock out master of puppets, megadeth holy wars, and does a pretty good job with A7X's nightmare.
  15. no slides on any....I wouldn't own a single one of those campers. You're really going to regret not getting a slide.
  16. hindsight is always 20/20 but if you know you're gonna wreck and you have that bull bar on the front the smart thing to do is to pit her into a pole or something and at least make it worth it. She obviously knew what she was doing or she wouldn't have been recording it. Just another reason to hate people.
  17. That is pretty bad and coming from me that's saying a lot. My welding skills suck. I can put two metal parts together and they hold but very rarely is it a pretty job when I'm done.
  18. thanks for the info guys.....he actually lives up in Akron and he's checking around up there. He called the dealerships up there and they all want $400-$500 to test the injectors ($100/hr for 4-5 hours). I'm just trying to get him some options. I hate to say it but I don't really trust a dealership not to come back and just say "yeah....you need 8 injectors" and then that not fix it. I've read a bunch of times where that's happened. Injectors are $400 a piece so he really needs someone that will actually trouble shoot the truck correctly to find out what the issue is.
  19. Anyone recommend a shop that does duramax? My buddy has been chasing a low rail pressure code (p0087) for over a year now on his 06. Had one shop that said they knew what they were doing that replaced his cp3 and an injector but no change. The rubber fuel lines have been changed, bottle tested it and the fprv is good, and the fuel cooler was changed (leaking). We're down to needing the injectors return tested. I know how to do it but don't have the equipment to do it and I've never done it so I'd rather he had someone that has experience with it check his injectors. He's already sunk a ton of cash into this thing....just trying to keep him from wasting anymore money on it.
  20. that duramax didn't have the p0087 code did it? My buddy has been chasing that code for over a year and still hasn't fixed it.
  21. the gas companies definitely saw an opportunity this year and jumped all over it. It's borderline criminal. I don't burn propane here except in the camper and to heat the garage so I only go through about 300 lb's a year but I feel for the people that heat their homes with it.
  22. the majority of the hunters out there are decent hunters I believe. It only takes 1 moron to kill you though. This past season I went out Saturday morning with my son working on getting him his first deer. We were in a tad bit late and it was breaking daylight about the time we got sat down good. I swear it was less than 30 minutes later some goof dick comes walking by and walks up to us to let us know they were driving then we hear WW3 break out a ridge over from us. I can understand driving if you want to do it in the afternoons or something but right after legal shooting time? Actually....I don't understand driving at all. It's the lowest form of hunter in my opinion but it's legal so there's nothing I can do about it. It should be outlawed but would be impossible to police except in certain situations.
  23. I'm not a fan of the proposal. It may be just enough to keep me out of the woods altogether during gun season. I'll just focus on bow and the early muzzle loader. I know the ballistics shows that muzzle loaders travel as far or further than the pistol loads but with a muzzle loader you have 1 shot so people tend to not shoot at running deer or do other stupid shit that'll get someone else killed where as these guns will be allowed 3 just like the shotguns so you know you're gonna have running shots. If I were on private land it wouldn't be a big deal but I hunt public and I won't feel safe so it might be best to sit it out altogether.
