  1. FUCKING DIBS. Finally! staying up late on CR paid off.
  2. After Mike @ M&M sat on my BMW head for over a month last year, I took it to the big NAPA on 161. They did a great job redoing the head (machine work, valve guides/seals, and a 3-angle valve job) for a good price. I beat on that BMW and it's been great for the last 6k+ miles.
  3. I've got 130,000+ points on WAZE. The only thing it's telling me is "WE ADDED 10 MINUTES BECAUSE OF THE ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF SLOW DRIVERS CLOGGING THE LEFT LANE." Well called, Wazey...well called.
  4. Had to go to Cleveland for a meeting early this morning. Get to Sunbury (36/37 exit) to gas-and-Panera, and I get a text from my partner indicating that the meeting is postponed. Cool, I thought...I've got enough to do downtown at my office today... ARE YOU SH*TT*NG ME ABOUT THE TRAFFIC?!?!? Seriously, anyone that lives on the northside of 270, and has to get anywhere within 270...how do you keep your sanity??? The traffic on 71 wasn't even that bad, yet I cannot fathom doing it every day. I am not naive - I've lived/worked in major metropolitan areas and appreciate that C'Bus has it relatively good. But, the city is growing and I simply do not understand why anyone would choose to spend market rates to live so far outside of town and have to deal with that on the daily. ...and when I'm coming back from NE Ohio around 5-5:30pm? HOLY SH*T the TRAFFIC on NB I-71 trying to get off on 36/37!!! It's a good 1-2 miles long - on a major interstate highway! - just to get off and go home. Now, you're dealing with an outlet mall no one needed. If you live in anything (apt/condo/house) built newer than 5 years old, shame on you for supporting this wasteful and unsustainable wear on infrastructure. /rant. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, CR. I don't do FaceBalls/social mediurr.
  5. Oh, is it??? I swear I looked at the engine bay and thought there was no way that was a V8...
  6. I'd think it could be had for $6-7k... He bought it from his widowed aunt...I can't imagine he paid that much for it...
  7. I will add that nearly everyone that's moved from C'Bus/Ohio and come back gains an appreciation for the area. When I was in FL in my late 20's, I loved the year-round warmth. Still do. However, I'd hear people (transplants from up north, mostly) complain about the lack of changing of seasons. I thought they were crazy. Now that I'm older and back, I really do appreciate fall and spring a lot more. The winter is the only part that sucks, and if I'm trying to be positive I'm good with it through middle of January, then I'm ready to move on. At least in C'Bus - as opposed to Cleveland - you get legit spring weather early to mid-March.
  8. Awesome article, Wags! Very detailed and informative, but it flowed well...like a conversation. You do a better job than most "journalists" on the blogs I read everyday.
  9. You'll find that when people bitch about Florida's humidity and stupidity, they're usually talking about inland, panhandle, or Atlantic (east coast) parts of FL. The Gulf coast gets a nice breeze that keeps the temperature and humidity slightly better in check. Traffic is ridic in "season" when all the retirees are in town (usually Thanksgiving through Easter) but everything is very approachable and there is a lot to see and do. For me, family is the biggest driver keeping us in Ohio, though having grown up here - and lived elsewhere - there is a lot to like. Winters do suck, but just 120 miles further north is an entirely colder climate called Cleveland...so I'm a lot happier being in C'Bus. Most adults/parents I've spoken to that have kids love Central Ohio for cost-of-living and a very family-friendly community. Down the road, when kids are out of college, I'd seriously consider doing a 7-month living plan in FL for taxes but keep in touch with Ohio. That's what I'm working towards...
  10. Posting for an older family friend. It was a retirement car for the owners uncle who bought it new in 1980. Current owner bought it from the widow. 69k original miles, always garage-kept. V6 and fairly basic, but A/C works as does power accessories and radio. $10k but very negotiable. http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/5819714114.html
  11. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2016/10/ca-court-rules-carmax-inspection-checklist-isnt-think/ Is anyone surprised about this? Every time a hurricane/flood/massive line of thunderstorms rolls through the country I think about all the flooded vehicles that people are trying to jam through auction. I don't fault CarMax as it's still the 800lb gorilla in the used car market, but quality's suffered...
  12. Scott's Camaro looks prettier and prettier the more I see it, doe...
  13. Myself and my extended in-laws have set up nests in Naples, FL...and while I love the weather and everything the Gulf has to offer, being close to the ocean just rips up unprotected metal to a degree I didn't anticipate. Now, if you always have new rides, it's not a problem. Older vehicles - especially in garages or at least shaded car-ports - fare much better. But the sun mixes with sea-breeze to attack the last two cars I've had down there. I'm sure Arizona/TX are the same, where any parking-lot sun exposure prematurely ages the car. If you have garage space, you're golden. If you're still parking cars outside like we all do here in Ohio, it's brutal. I appreciate the fantasy aspect of this question, and I have loved AZ when I've been out to visit, but in reality I have a lot of friends/family Ohio and points east that prevent me from probably ever living west of the Mississippi. Great to visit Colorado, AZ, Cali...but I'll probably never live there.
  14. Bump to gauge interest...I've now got 130k-131k miles on it (barely put 5k miles on it so far since March): NEEDS: - Sticking RF brake caliper. I have new SS brake lines for the fronts and will get around to checking to see if the calipers are the culprit or brake lines. Regardless, the SS lines are going in. - Crack in 2-1 collector on the exhaust intermediary pipe going from the header to the cat (common issue). I welded it closed a while back, but it sounds like it's opened up again. Exhaust is already loud, just a bit noisier than normal. GOOD: - New rear sway bar end links. Dropping to $500...advertised on CR only. Again, love this car and happy to keep driving it/fixing it, but everything has a price. Just curious if someone's intadested.
  15. Was at a father/daughter campout where there were about 30 dads in folding chairs around a projector. I wasn't feeling the game, and went to bed at 11pm, when OSU had 21 points. Woke up at 4am to take a piss and checked my phone. My jaw drop hit my cawk...how did they give up the game?!?!?!? smh. Glad I didn't stay up.
  16. Tom, if you break apart the C5 exhaust, please let me know. I've been toying with the idea of making test pipes for my V, or cat-deletes for the Lincoln...
  17. Definitely a beautiful afternoon, and a great time. THANK YOU indeed to Ant and CR-powers-that-be that got the tower and pizza...my son and I had a blast! Lots of great cars and people represented...
  18. +1. Although, he's working on a drag car that would be his "occasional road hammer". I can see how the Z06 may be redundant...
  19. I liked that video. SOMEONE FACT-CHECK BIDEN ON HIS CAR HISTORY KNOWLEDGE!
  20. Marc, FWIW I didn't want to bring a professional out to quote me, as I'm going to use my guy to do the paint job. If I wasn't trading the LeBaron for services, I would still delay getting my house repainted.
  21. Friend of mine is a painter, and also has a love for my 1985 LeBaron. I was chatting with him last night as the car hasn't sold yet, and we both like the idea of giving him a cash+house painting trade for my LeBaron. Over my 18-year run as an adult, I've experienced every home cost from roofing to interior painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, driveway, etc.....but never exterior house painting. I really have no clue what a good job costs? House pic will be posted shortly. Brick fascia is only on the front of the house, the rest is stucco. About 2300sqft. Pic is for reference. Paint is peeling from the soffets and fasciaboard where the gutters are mounted. Thanks, CR!
  22. I look forward to making it out!
