  1. DID SOMEONE SAY AIRBAGS?!? I think a drop is in order. Wheels have a great offset, no spacers needed. Looks sharp with the factory chrome too! I really like them.
  2. It's like a jetski for the sky. . Impressive what two tiny jet engines with 15hp each can do - cruises at 120kph!
  3. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/photo-essays/2016-09-12/how-mitsuoka-makes-its-adorable-extraordinary-handmade-cars Would love to see some video, but it's pretty cool how much effort goes into making these cars.
  4. So, I posted the LeBaron on CL and I was awoken 3 times in the middle of the night by Google Phone notifications...all from what I assume are fraudsters. Can someone tell me what the fraud angle is on this type of message? "I would like to buy it and have the shipper visit you to pick it up after you receive the payment,as i am unable to deal in person at the moment, do you have PayPal account for the payment ? ." Do they somehow file a claim against your PayPal account if you give it? Do they pay you and then it gets rejected/returned?
  5. I caved and put it on CL. If CR finds a buyer for $3600, I'll be a happy man and owe the "agent" drinks. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125571 http://imgur.com/pThsbqbl.jpg http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/5786945384.html 1985 Chrysler LeBaron convertible - Just under 40k original miles. I've pretty much put on 300 of them driving it back from Canfield, OH where I bought it from the 2nd owner who had it for 16 years after buying it from the estate sale of the original owner. Same service shop maintained it since 1987. - 2.2L Turbo I engine and tranny in excellent shape. Recent service. - The sketchiest part of the car was the tires. I replaced them with Hankook Optimo 724s....about the last whitewall option you can find cheaply. Rides and handles really well now. - A/C, cruise control work!!! THE BAD: - Both rear quarter windows had the plastic worm tape from the power motor to the window tracks break. The second one happened this past week. Plastic replacements are $15 a side. The windows easily slide up and down and still seal. - Factory radio works on and off. I had it going last week but now it's on the fritz. Thanks for looking!
  6. Saw that video earlier this week. Thanks for posting. You REALLY get a better impression of the true work and coordination that went into making that movie. It really was great (especially for car guys). I'm going to have to watch it again soon.
  7. Heck yes. It's a fun car, but I love my BMW (sporty convertible DD) and lowrider Lincoln (classic cruiser) a lot more. If I didn't have both of those cars I'd keep the LeBaron. Since I don't have a garage or even access to a carport in FL, consensus with some close car buds is that the LeBaron would get eaten alive by the sun and salt spray, just like my Passat and the Cavalier now. TL;DR - Na, Na, Na, Na...Na, Na, Na, Na...hey hey hey...goodbye.
  8. Bunch of Benedict Arnolds up in hurr... :gabe: I'd be interested in going, but that's Columbus Day weekend and I'll be out of town. Tell the guys that organize it we should buddy up and their Dayton folks can come to Lennox during their off-weekends!
  9. Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the feedback. I've just had rotten luck trying to sell any car on CL...I'll do forums, BST, and eBay and see how it goes. Updates to come.
  10. It's been awhile since I've sold a car online - I'm pretty good at buying them, not getting rid of them - so I'd love to hear people's recent experiences with different online resources. - eBay: The tried-and-true way to get a good, detailed ad out there that's cross-searched by a lot of different search engines as well. Cost is $125. - Bring-A-Trailer (BaT): For $250, has anyone used this to sell a "classic" car (or as classic as 1985 is these days...) - AutoTrader: I use them to browse more modern car makes/models - are they good for older vehicles? How are the prices? - Craigslist: No. Just...no. I refuse to sell something like a car through CL anymore. As the internet has taught me: "Just because something is free does not make it valuable." Welcome your feedback. Thank you!
  11. Thanks for the Grom suggestion...doesn't go back to a 1985 Chrysler?
  12. The factory chrome-faced Chrysler headunit in my 1985 LeBaron convertible has power going to it, but the digital face is gobbledy-gook and I can't make it play anything. I've been searching car-parts.com, eBay, Amazon...for a replacement. My search through Crutchfield netted the same cheap-o headunits that every Craigslist-special and work-truck have. Has anyone had a good experience with some sort of "hidden" radio interface that is possibly installed into the factory wiring harness, and allows Pandora/Spotify(from a smartphone) interface through the car? I like the idea of already building that into the car without affecting the factory dash appearance - chances are another Chrysler unit from that era (there are a couple at junkyards in Toledo) will probably be broken as well. I'm happy to do nothing, as my plan is to flip this in the next 6 months. However, if I can show a working stereo interface, that would help. Thanks!
  13. I like those 2012 wheels. $750 isn't cheap...until you realize it comes with some really nice tires as well. Good luck with the search!
  14. love the alloys! My uncle had a Civic just like this. Great car. I do like the idea of a more modern EFI Honda mill...
  15. PM me ASAP...I've got a golf outing tomorrow at Scioto Reserve that's paid for but my partner bailed. 9am tee time...
  16. I'm not saying I'd buy one: it's disappointing to see everyone buying that these are all great and efficient methods of transportation. I'll drive my V for another 200k miles if I can. Aren't you selling your junk because you're disappointed in it? :gabe:
  17. Austin, serious question...my 1982 Ford F100 has cut front springs and lowered I-beams. Noebull Automotive on Henderson/Kenny wouldn't touch it. As sure as I'm standing, I'd never fault a shop for doing a bad alignment on such a hacked vehicle - but the fact is I drive it a ton, haul suburban stuff, and the thing has NEVER given me a problem aside from eating the sh*t out of drivers' side tire shoulders. Any intadest in boldly going where no one's gone before?
  18. I know enough about cars to be dangerous, but when I see some of these newer sedans with Direct-Injection gasoline engines with integrated exhaust outlets in the rear bumpers, I'm shocked at how much soot/exhaust is left on the bumper. I'm sure that many of those cars are driven by "walkers" that never wash their highway cruiser, even after 30k+ miles, but are DI engines REALLY that much cleaner, if they need particulate filters, and special treatment of the intake manifold and valves to treat carbon buildup?
  19. We passed on a one-owner 2002 Mini Cooper stick...only 82k miles and full service from MAG back to purchase... Would be a great-MPG cruiser for $3400. Only problem I saw was no cruise control. Heated seats, great stereo, power everything but no cruise???
  20. Pretty sure Steve's talking about CarMax... I've heard almost without fault from people that have them: Volt's are great cars.
  21. That is definitely one of the most horrifying parts of that day that humanized the struggles in the towers for me: To see those people burning from heat and suffocating from the smoke hanging that far outside of the broken windows was haunting. Then you'd see people jumping... The Clarks are a rock band from Pittsburgh that I fell in love with while in college. They did a song called "Hey You" that they wrote after watching people jumping from windows on 9/11. There's a great video on YouTube of them playing live, and you can see the guitarist crying as they're singing the refrain. I'm glad I'm not the only one that was so moved by those images. The other thing I'll say about 9/11 is all the thousands of people (not just first responders) in NYC that contracted disease after the towers fell. My uncle was working at the Merrill Lynch building - green domed building next to Twin Towers - and was running down Battery Park when the first tower collapsed. He walked through the ash clouds eastbound trying to get back to his home on Long Island....the guy never drank or smoked in his life, but started developing breathing problems in 2005. Spots on his organs, he was diagnosed with some auto-immune illness and died in 2010. There were many, MANY more civilians that died years later that were directly connected to the towers collapsing and the airborne debris from that. On the positive side, I think 13 of the last 15 9/11 anniversaries have had knock-out beautiful weather just like on 9/11/01.
  22. Love John Oliver...this one made me bust out laughing when he went on his rant.
  23. Once I get word from guys about when services are expected, I'll share via CC&C's FB page. Please feel free to give as you see fit. I'd like to dedicate a CC&C Saturday coming up in Joe's honor.
  24. Yes. He had a silver 'Busa with a red frame cage. He would just lay it on the frame cage when he parked it...always put a smile on my face when I saw it lying on its side. It's very sad as Joe enjoyed riding very much...yet this accident was more from someone else being careless and going faster than him. Physics just isn't in favor of the bike rider in a situation like this.
