  1. http://www.10tv.com/article/portions-olentangy-river-road-closed-near-osu-campus Lost a great guy today that became my friend over the past few years through CC&C. There was an impromptu cruise/gathering in Easton this past evening in his name...still shocking to have seen someone barely 12 hours ago and now he's gone. He left a lot of great friends, a fiancee, and many people who loved him. I post this up as a reminder to everyone - especially riders - to be careful out there. While you're at it, tell a friend/family member how much you love and appreciate them. Tough reminder how precious and fragile life is.
  2. Very generous as always of you, Doc. Little bit of showers out here, but I'm at Easton meeting some peeps.
  3. Scrolled through pics. Saw SVX and was pleased. Great pics and seems like a great meet!
  4. Andy et al...totally understand where you guys are coming from. You all know I'm just having fun. I have to admit that I'm looking forward to finishing my pilot's license. If you want to hit 135+mph and have 3-axis g-force control over your vehicle and body in a way that running around the track can't deliver...that's the way to do it. Equally as pricey ($750/yr for flight insurance to cover plane rental, $125/wet hr in the plane, $40/hr instructor) but the mental/physical workout and focus/commitment is amazing. Don't get me wrong; I love tracking a car...but I'm not as competitive as you guys are from a car standpoint and flying is a commitment I need to follow-through on at this point in my life.
  5. http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/wtf_reaction_gif.gif For that price, I have a couple of vehicles you can buy outright, crash them into a wall, walk away and fly back to Columbus in a rental helicopter...and still have $$$ left for dinner at Hudson 29. :gabe:
  6. Wow...if you don't need a more haunting image than those photos, then something is wrong with you. That poor kid. I can barely handle too many beers anymore in my life...let alone however these people wrecking their bodies with this drug abuse.
  7. Ooh, damn man...sucks to see...:no::no:
  8. I'll be using these to my advantage. LeBaron's are like fucking your flat-chested friend-with-benefits: it does everything that the bigger, more luxurious cars do, just in a more petit package...and your friends aren't going to understand why you love her so much. http://imgur.com/q5U0mcsl.jpg http://imgur.com/ewYa5zCl.jpg http://imgur.com/QACR5OGl.jpg http://imgur.com/GnxUCTGl.jpg http://imgur.com/u0ePABwl.jpg http://imgur.com/8dUKV9cl.jpg http://imgur.com/rTPXG2sl.jpg http://imgur.com/2Cy3iNSl.jpg http://imgur.com/aVs63Skl.jpg http://imgur.com/pThsbqbl.jpg
  9. Thanks, guys. Definitely going to cruise around this fall. I'll try to sell it, and if it doesn't we'll weigh the FL route. Going to fix the Cavalier's brakes so I'm not forcing a car swap/sale.
  10. Yup. NAPA confirmed it was bad out the box. Bosch rectifier. I noticed a crack in the rectifier so maybe was damaged in shipping. Owner is going to return it for a refund. We'll do the alternator again (P/S pump is the one making all the racket) when it finally gives up the ghost.
  11. So, after getting close to buying a MINI Cooper out of nowhere thanks to my wife (and happy we passed on it), I jumped out of the frying pan into the fire. Similar to my story about the Lincoln, I was driving in Canfield, OH for work this past Wednesday, when I rolled by an old auto shop where this thing caught my eye. Got details from the shop, called the woman who had owned it for 16 years and struck a deal. Made a visit back yesterday and picked it up. http://imgur.com/ul2aIHbl.jpg 1985 Chrysler LeBaron convertible Pale yellow/tan interior/tan top 2.2L turbo Just under 40k (after trip back) original miles Records going back to 1987 - same shop serviced the car since original owner had it out of warranty. Working A/C, working cruise control No rust! Got it for a very good price so the plan is to flip it or use it in FL. Putting new tires on it, and fixing the radio which is acting up. It's my first turbo/automatic car, so it's a lot of fun and pulls well (140hp/160tq with around 2700lbs). Having fun cruising in it! http://imgur.com/3A1oCQll.jpg http://imgur.com/bZ2mPlfl.jpg
  12. I know historical tags are like $27, renewable in 2092 or something like that... Do personalized historical tags cost $50 a year? $100 a year for trucks?
  13. Dumb question, but do you have to order personalized historical tags online ahead of time, or can you pick something when you're getting plates at the BMV and they'll mail them to you? Buck, I love it. Great little fixes on the car and that powertrain should be badass when it's done!
  14. If only it was as easy as the YouTube videos I've seen where a guy heatgun's a dent, then sprays it with compressed air to pop it out.
  15. Or he did. Broke the "crazy-check-valve" in her head.
  16. The rear brake line burst. Fronts are fine but some spots of rust. Same with the fuel lines. Good call on the Fluid Film option, may have to do that...
  17. 1985 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible 2.2L Turbo - Limited Edition Yellow/tan top/tan interior Estate sale purchase, 2nd owner had it for 16 years. Full service history - everything has been repaired/maintained 39k original miles $4500
  18. Steve, The Cavalier will soldier on. I'll get new fuel lines and brake lines, and just install them myself. No need for a newer Cavalier in the form of a Cobalt. Good thought, though. The Cavvy is fine aside from the hard lines rusting out. Once fixed, other bolt-on parts should be relatively straightforward to repair in the future. Plus, it's already had a tuneup, new front brakes, end links, wheel bearings, etc...even new tires.
  19. GOOD NEWS! Owner just got an offer for $3800, she said she had another interested party, and they immediately went to full price offer. Person is supposedly paying this afternoon. There's an ass for every seat. Thanks again, CR! The collective experience/knowledge/opinion is appreciated.
  20. I work out at PF in the evenings around 11pm. There are people there, but it's a focused and respectful group (giving up equipment and not getting in peoples' space). Pre-kids, I did work out in the morning. It was a good time. Just ZERO CHANCE of that happening now.
  21. Funny you say that... Earlier today, I went to Heath to look at a 2001 Saab 9-3 Convertible. Thing had such bad cowl shake, owner smoked, and the interior was filthy with a million little things wrong with it. I offered $1600 and said I'd have to tell my wife. He countered at $1800, and I got a pit in my stomach; I didn't want this thing AT ALL. Shook his hand and walked away. It's still for sale...if you want to fix the softtop, figure out why the TCS/ABS/BRAKE lights are on the dash, fix the one broken suspension, replace the broken antenna, replace the broken drivers' glass headlight, deep-clean the interior... http://zanesville.craigslist.org/cto/5717433643.html Back to the MINI: The car - and the owners - were great. She had all the MAG service records since new...it was a thick folder. The transmission, clutch and flywheel were replaced at 55k miles in 2009 under recall. Same with the power steering pump and fan in May of this year. There were zero leaks, no rust. Car was in amazing shape. Only problems were: - Goodyears were dry-rotted, and howled like crazy whilst rolling. - Brake rotors were rusty. Good material left, but they had been on there for awhile. Headliner was starting to sag. Otherwise, it leaked nothing...was a lot of fun to drive, and the kids were totally ga-ga for it. I offered $3k, which the owner politely refused. We had a really nice discussion. She works at OSU Center for Automotive Research, and her and the husband were really nice people. She's got a couple of others coming, she doesn't want to do CL or eBay, and we agreed on a price that is still low but reflects that I'll need to put tires on it. If someone buys it before me, so be it. Cool little car. I was a fan.
