I need new tires for the CTS-V (pissed I missed Joe's thread ), and Tire Rack currently has a deal for FIREHAWK WIDE OVAL INDY 500 - 245/45-18's for $82 a tire. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Firestone&tireModel=Firehawk+Wide+Oval+Indy+500&partnum=445WR8FHWI5XL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes That's a hell of a deal, and I won't be driving it in the heart of winter anyways. Anyone with experience on this tire? When I hear "Wide Oval Indy 500" I think of a '76 Firebird doing burnouts in a mall parking lot.

There's a whole threads' worth of comments on not having time in my 30s for car projects I would've killed to have in my 20s. Kids, career, etc...kinda get in the way.

+1. Sorry, dood...want to support you on this, but at best, get some pics, trade the bike parts, and try to sell the kit. I have space and a welder you can use, but we're going to run out of nice weather in the next few months, and I know all you and I have in extra space is driveway...

OT, but what was I looking at that had a beautiful '30s sedan like that for sale for like $7500??? Seemed like a deal considering the rarity of some of those really old cars.

Gaddamnit...

Hey, Chris...thanks a ton! Those 5x7's honestly sound amazing. It's funny how a factory 1978 head unit sounds through modern speakers - still has plenty of power and clarity. Let me know if you find those door speakers.

http://imgur.com/BzaiHHVl.jpg http://imgur.com/ahmWUSjl.jpg Just some quick shots of the control panel (not installed) and the carpet in the trunk once everything was laid out. I have the coilsprings coming out of the front. I'm at the bumpstops in the front with aired-out bags and I still have tire-to-wheelwell clearance. This car is huge!!!

I just reupped my membership to LEPD for the year. Hit me up when you're planning on going sometime.

That was very amusing to watch. ...partially because I wasn't in the car at the time.

The fact that little dropbox in the woods was covered in snow = it's been there for awhile. The fact that Hopper was putting Eggos and a Tupperware tote of food in an EMPTY bin = it's been filled (and emptied!!!) before?

Just finished the series. Looking forward to Season 2. I'm assuming that it will be a totally different story line - hence the somewhat generic title of "Stranger Things". Think "The Twilight Zone", with different stories but totally mental bends to them that challenge your perception of reality. It's been enough time. Feel free to let the spoilers fly. My thoughts: - Glad Steve wasn't such a dick, and he actually helped Jonathan and Nancy in the end. I thought for sure he was a dead man when he showed up. - I do have a tough time understanding why one demogorgon exists in the Upside Down...or are there multiple??? One just happens to feed in a certain area? - Why did the MIB take Hopper after the hospital, yet he shows up in the end during Christmas? Just to debrief him? - Did Matthew Modine get wiped out by the demogorgon? I'm assuming when the shooting stopped, it was because the "bad men" with guns were all dead. - If I was in my pre- to early-teens when this show came out, I would've had a crush on Eleven a'la that princess from the Neverending Story (<<<holy hell I thought she was so beautiful...but I was around 8years old when I saw it on TV). It's funny how there are so many little questions one might have at the end of watching a series like "Stranger Things", but in a way I appreciate that not every loose string has to be tied to something. I was very entertained, maybe a few things I couldn't reconcile after it was over, but I was content with the finished product. Looking forward to more from the Duffer Brothers! EDIT: just Googled and found this good article containing an interview with them. Glad I'm not the only one asking some of these questions: http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/stranger-things-finale-duffer-brothers-interview-season-2-1201816664/

Nice, Ben! A.J...I know definitely where you're talking, just never fished there. There are so many backwater spots I'm trying to get a feel of where my favorite places are.

Retail is dying in general...I avoid auto parts stores as much as I possibly can: 1) Rockauto.com - OEM-similar replacement parts 2) Amazon.com - OEM or aftermarket parts to price-shop 3) Wal-Mart - consumable fluids, like engine oil and car-wash products 4) Afermarket performance parts site.
-
I've been fishing in FL, used a cast net to catch greenbacks for bait, use them and some shrimp to catch amberjack and sheepshead. In the backwater I use a Wal*Mart spoon to catch some sea trout and catfish. I've gotten my daughter into fishing...will have to get to Joe's pond this fall.

Fuck me...just finished "flea and the acrobat". Love this show!!!

Agreed. It's a no-go on the GXP. Thank you, CR. As my wife reminded, I have half a lowrider and several other car jobs to finish. No need for another needy auto project to feed.

It is the GXP (5.3L V8). I am definitely the one trying to get him to sell. We talked about a $1500 price, but after texts last night the guy is balking...he's thinking that he'd want to keep it and get around to fixing it up when his last kid goes to college in a few years. I told him if he doesn't want to sell I'd be happy to help him work on it (new brakes, tuneup, etc...) There was another guy I hauled some scrap away for a couple months ago in UA that had a 1986 M-B 230E (European model) that sat on his driveway since '08. His wife said he'd never sell it. They called me back the next day after I asked about it and he said he's ready to get rid of it. I opened the trunk and there was standing water in the spare tire well. I almost gagged and politely told him "not if it was free".

So, my '04 Cavalier in FL runs really well, A/C blasts cold air, but the friggin brake lines/fuel lines are all rotten and the cost to have a shop do it is more than the car is worth. I bought it cheap so I may just unload it... I was helping a friend of my wife's move a W/D last week, and I saw their '05 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP in the driveway, tires nearly flat, brake rotors rusty. I pointed and obviously asked whatsupwitdat? Long story short, with one-owner and 91k miles on the odo, it hasn't ran in a few years but the guy had a rebuilt tranny and cracked radiator replaced before his job forced him to buy a pickup and travel a lot more. He just hasn't driven the car in years. However, he'd be interested in selling it pretty cheaply, because he's not going to work on it. Aside from the lot rot, the car was very solid. Are these things worth the effort to revive?

I swear, every time someone talks about Trump and that stupid wall with Mexico... http://i.giphy.com/26BRu9IGb7oqm5x8k.gif

I think the plot is not necessarily unique, but it's definitely the packaging of the timeline, plot- and character-development that are done so well. It's a little 80s-teen movie, horror flick, sci-fi, I'm reminded of "LOST" from TV a few years back...there's elements of a lot of stuff there but the whole thing works.
-
I just was about to search for a thread about this show. Man, did they get the '80s vibe as perfectly as possible...very "E.T." feel to it. It's legitimately spooky. Winona Ryder does a great job. My wife and I just started it last night and made it through the first 3 chapters??? (ended at Holly, Jolly) before I fell asleep. Trippy dreams for sure.

Just took the time to read it as well...I have a great amount of respect for what Clint stands for. Great article. Thanks for posting.
