  1. One could make the connection that a government loan was actually FUNDED by Chinese investment in U.S. Treasuries (debt obligations). :fa:
  2. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324482504578451410328454302.html?mod=hp_opinion I appreciate the info the author shares in this WSJ article and I'm not against global manufacturing from a U.S. company... ...but to have this coming from "Gov't Motors" does seem like a slap-in-the-face from a $50billion bailed-out company that should've died and got BOUGHT by the Chinese a few years ago.
  3. If you want to give into your wifes' vacation suggestions, ANY "beach" trip will still involve travel and lodging accomodations. Costs will be incurred, and if it's more than 100miles away with more than 3 nights' stay, be mentally prepared for the costs to be substantial, especially considering your initial comments about not having the budget in the first place, as well as the psychological resistance you have for doing another vacation before your plans in July. My comment was more of a "tongue-in-cheek" suggestion that minimizes both travel and lodging expenses, and also makes an indirect reference to your wife that a vacation now is not something you plan on doing. Similarly, when my wife asks "What do I want to do for dinner?" when we make plans to go out to eat, I suggest "Skyline Chili or Raising Canes"; two fast-food chains that I do love to eat at but knowingly smack against her implied request for more expensive, sit-down restaurant options. However, my response ALSO reinforces my desire not to go out and spend money on an expensive restaurant when I'm not feeling like it. Your original plans for July are going to be fun and enjoyable. I certainly like to travel down to Naples, FL a few times a year at considerable cost, so I feel out-of-the-blue travel is an unnecessary expense and use of our time. Much in the same way that I don't need to eat at Mitchell's just because I'm hungry. I hope this explains the humor in my earlier comment sufficiently. You didn't need to "get the joke", but at least understand that one was there. Have a great day, and good luck with the pending negotiations with your better half. Thanks, Erik
  4. Whittier Park Peninsula?

  6. That sucks...he was my age. MAN, that was the jam summer of '92... Sorry, Chris...I'm not wearing my suit backwards to work this morning.
  7. Take 315 to Lane, turn AWAY from OSU (no matter if you're coming from the N or S). Go under the traintracks. The light you'll approach is Kenny. Make a left. 2nd light will be Kinnear, make a left. Lennox will be 1/2mile down on your right after you cross over the traintracks again!
  8. If they have a good attorney, they'll be able to eat caviar for the rest of their lives. WELP.....OFF TO THE DAILY GRIND AGAIN
  9. www.columbuscarsandcoffee.net 8am to 12pm - Cup O'Joe, Lennox Town Center Ryan - I'd recommend a video'd cruise from Easton...75 degrees and sunny! Awesome turnouts so far! PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS, LIKE US ON FB!
  10. That is the least amount of metal you can wrap around a Soarer/1JZ chassis combo :megusta:
  11. Too much stoopid/OT in this thread to edit out. http://themoderatevoice.com/wp-content/uploads/2009-may/trainwreck2.jpg

  13. I'm at work...if there was a picture of the car I can't see it. Did the plate say "NO MURCY" on it?
  14. Wow. What did we hit? It was like 448 last night when I czeched it!!!

    Regardless, we're on our way!

  15. Bumping this back up...the factory vinyl is really starting to crack. Not looking to recover factory seat if a lightly-modified-to-bolt-in bench is available for cheap with better padding... and possibly headrests! Any fullsize bench seat (Ford F150 or E150, preferably) in decent condition will work, any color as I can just dye it red.
  16. I forget engine choices, but the '89 DX I had was the SOHC 1.5L and was very easy on parts and to work on. As always, you gotta worry about the tin worm. My exhaust rusted off but the car only got marginally louder. Stereo speakers and cloth upholstery are crap-ola. Valve cover gasket will likely be a-leaking...
  17. http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/an-opinion-on-zipcar-and-the-millennial-problem-483815841 I totally get the tl;dr guys, but THIS IS WORTH THE READ. CC&C Facebook post would be appreciated!

  19. Q7's are baller. TDI's are even more so.
  20. Sam, PM Doc. He's looked into limo economics in the past.
  21. Kid did a trade for his VW GTI for it. It was a repaint, but even with 187k miles on it the body had surprisingly little rust and the interior was shockingly crisp. I wouldn't go on about a Wagovan, but I grew up with an '85 Civic Wagon and there is definitely a soft spot in my heart for them. This kid was telling us the rear diff in it is stronger than the CR-V's...a lot of crazy factoids!
