Ordered lowering springs after cleaning the car and driving it around nearly every day. Been scrambling around FB Marketplace for Volvo or Focus RS/ST wheels for the S60...used options are few and far between. Going to keep the stock rollers for forseeable future. Called European Auto Works and they never worked on the car (despite the P.O. Suggesting they did work?) so I’m finding small things that were broken or worn but not sure why or how. Power window (drivers side) didn’t work. Pulled off door panel to find window regulator sliding block needed snapped into place and the window motor reconnected. FIXED. Unfortunately, AWD is not engaging...and the solution of a negligent DEM or AOC pump for the Haldex system is a few hundred dollars. will see...

So, it’s AWD...right? Did you disconnect the driveshaft for the Dyno? Love the updates and video. That little bugger is sick!

All that needs to be said about GM and UAW. Be Kerry: Unions are helpful, until they aren't.

If you get the 2.5L Cherokee, I wouldn't plan on a huge resale value, even if it's mint. I'm fine with base-model engines (like my 4-cyl BMW) but the couple of 4-cyl Jeep Wrangler's I've driven are borderline hazardous, especially on the highway. I call bullshit. You got that bish for a great price, fixed it up and knew you'd get top-dollar on that highly-desirable model. Don't pin this on your kid. I'm sure you'd say "if he liked it I'd keep it", but c'mon Tim...

Damn! Geeto would chime in, but that black '80s gangsta is a Mercedes Benz 560SEC...can't tell if it's a special edition one, outside of the body kit. Is the interior super-dirty on account of the rear quarter window being open? I was "given" a car in college - Dodge 400 convertible - that was sitting in an old garage in Cleveland. Woman's father owned it and he died...sat for years and they were selling the house. It was super dusty and I would've taken it and fixed it up if it wasn't for the fact that HE LEFT A WINDOW OPEN and the inside was the filthiest nest of rodents ever. I couldn't even stomach sitting in it. Hoping that Mercedes is in better condition... That pre-war baby Mercedes I'm not too sure about. Interesting turn-signal location on the fenders! My neighbor has a Nash Metropolitan. Crazy how small they are in person.

New renderings for Crew SC stadium in the Arena District: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/09/24/columbus-crew-reveals-new-stadium-renderings.html?ana=e_colum_bn_breakingnews&j=84001741&t=Breaking%20News&mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTW1aaFkyTTJOVGhpTWpabSIsInQiOiJoUm5BM1ZrYnlTTjhRN0VPenN5NERVaktwaXdicTN6Y2p3UzRWN093VVl5QTIySlNLV2RzVUhwWVpKZVFNV1Z4dXZhdERtd2d2a3RYWldrNzhZTjBnaTZRM2tlMWxpNXdRdzF2V3dFanlWVVB4YWRadGNLNU5ndmFVMnN6aDZvUiJ9 I was at a Crew game a couple of weekends ago, and had a really good time. Looking back at this thread, it's amazing to see the highs and lows that this Crew debacle went through. Regardless of what you think about soccer, I'm glad we retained the franchise for the City. Looking forward to getting to the new stadium!

Any optometrists in here? Need suggestions on sunglasses.
zeitgeist57 replied to RC K9's topic in Dumpster
I've got a couple of $30 polarized glasses - Goodr's and Crimson's. I have enjoyed 20/20 vision up to me now being 41 yo...but when I'm wearing the Crimsons (which I've had for a few years now) my eyesight gets a little blurry. Pull the glasses up and my eyesight sharpens. Starting to think it may be time to invest in better optics. ...buuuuut I probably won't. :gabe: -
Scott - I'm starting to hear the same thing with GM dealers. I believe in the concept of unions, but no corporation is going to be able to legitimately negotiate with so much UAW internal corruption going on. It's a hot mess that won't be solved with this strike. It's a mess.

Really appreciate all the details and photos on CR. Saw some pics on FB but who knows where those went to... -
Don't get a truck or SUV unless you're genuinely going off-road or hauling dirty stuff (yard waste, kids, motorsports equipment, etc). Put a lightweight hitch on the Wrangler and a HF trailer. 1) Get something premium with a stick (Audi, BMW, CTS-V, etc). You will continue to have the most fun and become less bored = keep the car longer. 2) GO BIG. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=450242435&zip=43220&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D43220%26maxMileage%3D100000%26sortBy%3Drelevance%26maxPrice%3D15000%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26seriesCodeList%3DLS_MODELS%252CGS_MODELS%252CS_CLASS%252C7_SERIES%252CG_MODELS%26marketExtension%3Don%26modelCodeList%3DMKS%252CA6%252CA8%252CS4%252CM56%252CQ45%252CINFINQ50%252CM45%252CSTS%26makeCodeList%3DBMW%252CLEXUS%252CMB%252CCAD%252CLINC%252CINFIN%252CAUDI%26searchRadius%3D100&numRecords=25&maxPrice=15000&firstRecord=0&modelCodeList=MKS%2CA6%2CA8%2CS4%2CM56%2CQ45%2CINFINQ50%2CM45%2CSTS&makeCodeList=BMW%2CLEXUS%2CMB%2CCAD%2CLINC%2CINFIN%2CAUDI&searchRadius=100&makeCode1=MB&modelCode1=S550&clickType=listing https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=524328648&zip=43220&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D43220%26maxMileage%3D100000%26sortBy%3Drelevance%26maxPrice%3D15000%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26seriesCodeList%3DLS_MODELS%252CGS_MODELS%252CS_CLASS%252C7_SERIES%252CG_MODELS%26marketExtension%3Don%26modelCodeList%3DMKS%252CA6%252CA8%252CS4%252CM56%252CQ45%252CINFINQ50%252CM45%252CSTS%26makeCodeList%3DBMW%252CLEXUS%252CMB%252CCAD%252CLINC%252CINFIN%252CAUDI%26searchRadius%3D100&numRecords=25&maxPrice=15000&firstRecord=0&modelCodeList=MKS%2CA6%2CA8%2CS4%2CM56%2CQ45%2CINFINQ50%2CM45%2CSTS&makeCodeList=BMW%2CLEXUS%2CMB%2CCAD%2CLINC%2CINFIN%2CAUDI&searchRadius=100&makeCode1=LINC&modelCode1=MKS&digitalRetail=true&clickType=listing https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=528019617&zip=43220&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D43220%26maxMileage%3D100000%26sortBy%3Drelevance%26maxPrice%3D15000%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26seriesCodeList%3DLS_MODELS%252CGS_MODELS%252CS_CLASS%252C7_SERIES%252CG_MODELS%26marketExtension%3Don%26modelCodeList%3DMKS%252CA6%252CA8%252CS4%252CM56%252CQ45%252CINFINQ50%252CM45%252CSTS%26makeCodeList%3DBMW%252CLEXUS%252CMB%252CCAD%252CLINC%252CINFIN%252CAUDI%26searchRadius%3D100&numRecords=25&maxPrice=15000&firstRecord=0&modelCodeList=MKS%2CA6%2CA8%2CS4%2CM56%2CQ45%2CINFINQ50%2CM45%2CSTS&makeCodeList=BMW%2CLEXUS%2CMB%2CCAD%2CLINC%2CINFIN%2CAUDI&searchRadius=100&makeCode1=BMW&modelCode1=750LI&digitalRetail=true&clickType=listing 3) Can't go wrong with Infiniti G's and M's, especially in AWD and possibly a V8... https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=521673099&zip=43220&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D43220%26maxMileage%3D100000%26sortBy%3Drelevance%26maxPrice%3D15000%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26seriesCodeList%3DLS_MODELS%252CGS_MODELS%252CS_CLASS%252C7_SERIES%252CG_MODELS%26marketExtension%3Don%26modelCodeList%3DMKS%252CA6%252CA8%252CS4%252CM56%252CQ45%252CINFINQ50%252CM45%252CSTS%26makeCodeList%3DBMW%252CLEXUS%252CMB%252CCAD%252CLINC%252CINFIN%252CAUDI%26searchRadius%3D100&numRecords=25&maxPrice=15000&firstRecord=0&modelCodeList=MKS%2CA6%2CA8%2CS4%2CM56%2CQ45%2CINFINQ50%2CM45%2CSTS&makeCodeList=BMW%2CLEXUS%2CMB%2CCAD%2CLINC%2CINFIN%2CAUDI&searchRadius=100&makeCode1=INFIN&modelCode1=G37&digitalRetail=true&clickType=listing https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=522796855&zip=43220&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D43220%26maxMileage%3D100000%26sortBy%3Drelevance%26maxPrice%3D15000%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26seriesCodeList%3DLS_MODELS%252CGS_MODELS%252CS_CLASS%252C7_SERIES%252CG_MODELS%26marketExtension%3Don%26modelCodeList%3DMKS%252CA6%252CA8%252CS4%252CM56%252CQ45%252CINFINQ50%252CM45%252CSTS%26makeCodeList%3DBMW%252CLEXUS%252CMB%252CCAD%252CLINC%252CINFIN%252CAUDI%26searchRadius%3D100&numRecords=25&maxPrice=15000&firstRecord=0&modelCodeList=MKS%2CA6%2CA8%2CS4%2CM56%2CQ45%2CINFINQ50%2CM45%2CSTS&makeCodeList=BMW%2CLEXUS%2CMB%2CCAD%2CLINC%2CINFIN%2CAUDI&searchRadius=100&makeCode1=INFIN&modelCode1=M45&clickType=listing

My in-laws use Econo-Haul a lot...pretty cheap and easy to deal with. You can also check with http://www.budgetdumpster.com - Cleveland company that SEO's dumpster providers to make sure you get the right dumpster size you need for a cheap price.

Indeed. One of my favorite things about cheap cars (as opposed to my wife's Odyssey or my CTS-V) is that I can have fun with projects on the cheap, and not worry TOO much about McSteaks. After lopping off the old muffler, I got a C6 Z06 exhaust system from a CR member and got to choppin'. Used the factory Volvo tip and hanger to finish off the 2.25" exhaust. Tools: HF Angle grinder - 40grit cutoff wheels, grinding stone, 80grit flapper disc HF 14" chop-saw HF Flux-core (.035) welder Tell Alex Lindner I'M LOOKIN' FOR HIM... TiL: if you're making straight piping go up, down, and around corners, spend the time to make JOINTS THAT MATE UP FLAT AND SMOOTH. I've got a few pinhole leaks that aren't the worst...but I'm likely going to drop the whole cat-back to make sure I can seam-weld where I missed some spots and a few gaps I'll have to patch. Free pipe, my welder, and some beautiful weather = I'm happy with the results. My son is very happy as well.

2005 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD - Battery drain?
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Tech and Tips
It was just the coil pack. No more misfire when I bought it. I’ve fired it up every day so far, so I’m not seeing a battery drain...but as I update wear items, I’ll try to find a problem. There is a message on the message center: “Alarm System Service Required “ or something like that... -
No worries, Nick - I think the eBay specials I saw for $599/set of 4 will suit the car well. Thank you though. The centerbore for the S60 is 63.4...it's smaller than that? Plastic hubcentric rings are like $5 shipped on eBay now.
-
Thanks, Nick! Steal me some Focus RS/ST take-offs. Greg, I need to add some door stickers to my existing windshield banner invoice
-
You're welcome to give it a spin. I'm also being told that the 5-speed automatic doesn't like a ton of TQ. Honestly, the cut exhaust sounds great. I'd be more curious if anyone's done a manual boost controller to up PSI a couple of points. Aside from maybe a pod filter for choo-choo noises, the car is great as it sits. Just working on appearance and bolt-on mods.

Anyone know if the S60 2.5T AWD has the same springs as the S60R? These Vogtlands SAY on eBay that they fit... https://www.amazon.com/Vogtland-956919-Lowering-Spring-Springs/dp/B01EJ2A97I/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=vogtland+956919&qid=1568733580&sr=8-1

Try it now, Grrg...the first two is the ad on FB. There is an Imgur link for a launch after I Sawzall'ed the muffler off, with my little guy doing the countdown and shrieking with delight. Not sure why the audio didn't work.

Last week, I'm lying in bed instead of sleeping, and a FB ad popped up for a super-cheap Volvo. Without hesitation, I post up that I'll buy it. I need another car like we need Al-Qaeda in Columbus, but here we are. I can't help myself if the following formula shows itself to me: - Less than $1000 - Working A/C - No visible body rust. First things first, I needed to diagnose the engine misfire. Car had been sitting under a tree for months so the battery was totally dead. PO drove it to the car wash but it died again in his driveway. Engine shook like crazy. I swapped coilpacks to see if cyl-2 moved to cyl-1. It did. New coil pack (supplied by the PO!) and the engine runs smoothly. https://i.imgur.com/jAVwTjCl.mp4 I've never seen my 8-year old son so excited about a car. He's all about Volvo S60s now. I told him - since it was a $900 car - that we could "turn it into a race car" and he's all about it. First mod, of course, was to cut out the suitcase rear muffler. Sounds much better now but I need to finish a pipe out the rear of the car. Plans are to: - Update maintenance - timing belt, sparkplugs, oil/filters/fluids, new brakes, front wheel bearing - Finish rear exhaust pipe. - Lower it with springs (which may be odd as apparently the AWD likes to rake up in the rear no matter what) - Wheels and tires - Get some race numbers for the doors and hood. Joel likes the number "18" for some reason. - Rip it around to my son's delight, probably end up selling it or taking it to FL as the new beach car to replace my rusty '04 Cavalier. If anyone has a line on some 17"/18" 5x108 wheels, please let me know!

I got mine from Absolute Steel in Phoenix. $1995 shipped for an 18x20.
-
Yes - not sure of the owner but I remember seeing it for sale in the past as well.
