Hope he maintains progress...slow as it may be!

1) As a Public Enemy fan, I approve of Holley using Terminator X as a product name. 2) Wow. Reading up on this, it's AMAZING where the aftermarket is going with standalone systems and harnesses for the LS engine.

My trans is rattling in my Silverado (4L60). Would be interested in the flexpate and torque converter if they aren’t cracked and in good service...

When I had my '82 Chevy C20, I lived in FL and paid $900 in 2005 to convert the 6.2L diesel's A/C compressor to R134. Definitely was a new compressor, and I noticed some newer fittings and pressure sensors at the time. It worked great, but quickly got weaker in the next few years before I ended up selling it. I did find an interesting convo below...not much guidance to fixing this aside from having way more vintage A/C experience as a mechanic (which I don't have). https://www.lincolnlandinc.com/blog/2014/01/1979_mark_ac_questions.htm I mentioned a bit ago that I need to find a vacuum leak...I may just end up taking it to Noebull or Lucore for input. May just make more sense to have someone poke at the car for a few days to understand the leaks and errors in order to make the right repair, as opposed to me guessing and throwing new parts at an old system. I'll need the shop to evacuate any old freon anyway!

So, after working with Andy at Vintage Air, I've unfortunately come to a stop: The compressor/brackets they have (called "blocks") fit the 351W, but not the 400-M in my Lincoln. The Ford FS-10 compressor is what they have a block for, not my ancient, 2-liter-bottle-sized factory compressor. The other issue I'm faced with is that there is a climate control vacuum issue where the coolant valve for the heater doesn't shut off, causing the interior to get mad hot regardless of the temp setting. I have to zip-tie it shut. Will have to figure out the vacuum leak before getting the A/C serviced. Realistically, all of my other vehicles (including my Silverado) all have working A/C so I'll just sleep on this for awhile. Thanks for everyone's suggestions, and will definitely keep Vintage Air in mind in the future! Great to work with!

I saw Woodford being a heavy sponsor of the Kentucky Derby...then saw some ad for the Preakness playing "Old Town Road" and showing some Becky's in their derby getups whooping for the camera. LOL at Bourbon being the new party lube. Gettin' white people funky since Eighteen Seventy Forever.

I know a few former, current, and transplanted Clevelanders are on CR...Wall Street Journal did a nice, high-level piece on Amazon's expansion into some old malls in NE Ohio. https://www.wsj.com/video/why-amazon-is-gobbling-up-failed-malls/FC3559FE-945E-447C-8837-151C31D69127.html As someone who grew up in Shaker Heights during the mid-'80s to early-'90s, there will always be a special place in my heart for the old Randall Park Mall. My parents now live in Euclid by the lakeshore, so I knew about the old Euclid Square Mall facility. Didn't realize Amazon built a fulfillment center at the old Randall Mall site. Really interesting to see Amazon continue it's dominance. I shopped this weekend for some Silverado front suspension parts on AutoZone locally ($180+), then RockAuto ($150+), before buying on Monday, from my phone, through Amazon (full kit with balljoints and end links for $115 shipped). If there's a retail evolution from here I can't imagine what it will be!

I was hanging at a good friends' house and pulled a bottle from the rack, helped myself to some scotch. Had a funny name. Threw it over some rocks. The wife hustles over and grabs my glass...proceeds to pull the ice out with her fingers. I make a "my bad" face when she explains - with pictures on her phone - how they traveled Scotland and showed me this huge barn with "Laphroaig" on the side. Enjoyed a slightly watered-down 3-finger pour of Laphroaig. Not used to the peaty-ness yet. But it was good. Definitely unique. Heard the price and process to make it...will not try again.

Woodford Reserve is a staple.

I do miss my '95 C4 at times...not working on the LT1 doe (stupid Optispark issues). I would say '80s Z51 C4's are the best C4's to own: if you can get one that looks good for cheap, they have some seriously hard paint that takes a good polish, and it's a sturdy chassis with great performance characteristics for cruising and spirited driving. I get why people might look at'90s ZR-1s, but at the price point the performance envelope is so much better with C5s and newer...why even bother unless you're a collector? Just get a good L98 and be happy with it. Props to you, sir.

What did you do for your ride today? (v3.0)

Same. Huge pine by my back lot near the carport is just peppering the Lincoln with pollen. It's amazing. Had to clean her off and throw some Meguiars #7 on like Tim told me to. Was a damp night so the #7 will need to dry a bit before polishing. Tim, I love that Jeep and imma let you finish, but those license plate frames have got to go. :gabe: -
Realized it's been a while since the last update. Been sitting on some new front brakes since I bought the truck back in Jan '18... I've also been sitting on the drop kit since last year, but unfortunately I wasn't able to seperate the spindle from the lower ball joint. I'm ordering new tie rods, lower ball joints, upper a-arms with joints, and sway-bar end links just to renew everything in the front end. Put it back together and will tackle the lowering kit again when the parts come in. Had the opportunity to pick up a camper for scrap, so I quickly ordered the hide-away hitch. What happens when the hitch ball doesn't go far enough in the receiver for the pin? FIXED Also replaced the fuel pump/sending unit earlier this year. Even when the gauge says empty, there's a few pounds of fuel sloshing in that 29-gal tank. Straightforward but a heck of a job to do solo. She's got years of dirt and rocks thrown up in the crevices! Much better. The fuel pump 100% repaired the slow-start and highway hesitation problems. I didn't take a picture but the filter sock at the end of the fuel pump looked DISGUSTING. Should flow better for years to come! Runs really well now. I also repaired the "TOW/HAUL" button (common problem where an orange wire breaks off near the steering column from wear) on the shifter stalk which holds gears longer...feels much better for acceleration. I do love a manual but this 4L60 shifts great behind the V6 and I'm happy with the performance. Rust repair, lowering kit, wheels going back on soon! I know it's been almost a year but I've had a lot of other good things...will play catch-up with the Silverado now that the weather is good!

I will second Brian's advice for sure. I've been splitting/transplanting hostas around my property and I'm finding garbage-bag-thick plastic weed barrier in some of my beds. I'm using a trowel to poke holes so I can plant the hostas but of course I'm wondering what the heck that is doing to drainage and the soil. I also am clearing a bed to just mulch over, and sprayed it with Roundup. I was pissed when it looked like it didn't do anything after a bit but it definitely gives weeds a slow death. A week later and I'm going to lay down another spray before getting mulch. Hoping it doesn't affect some mature trees that are sharing a couple of these beds...

I just bought 255/45ZR18 Lionhart LH-503's from Walmart online...shipped to my door within 3 days. I've had them on my CTS-V for about a month but have nothing but good things to say about them as a performance/street tire: - smooth and balanced at 80+ mph - Good stick in the wet/cold...predictable traction-release characteristics. - Surprisingly good in dry conditions. I'm realizing I have a worn-out tie rod end in the front I need replacing, but I discovered it when the tire was sticking so well on an on-ramp that there was a unnerving clunk in the front end. Jacked up the front end and I can see some play at the spindle. GOOD TIRES if they are maxing out the suspension/steering components!

Geez, that sucks. Really appreciate the updates, Chris...It has to be tough.

That does look awesome. I actually like the chrome and emblems...

Man, I did that job (have the huge Honda-specific crank-bolt socket and everything) and it wasn’t a tough job at all. Is he at all mechanically-inclined?

I never liked the Cayman, mostly because the first-gen was literally just a Boxster with a roof but everyone was going nuts for it. I'm still not a fan especially now when a slightly-older 996 with better performance is available for similar money AND you can take little kids in the back.
