  1. Sorry that I wasn’t able to make it out. Hope to catch up soon.
  2. I've been a fan of Jack Baruth and Freddy "Tavarish" Hernandez since they were writing/blogging for other automotive sites. Recently realized that they were both writing articles for Hagerty, along with some other good contributors. If you guys like car content, might want to click through their articles. I like YouTubers, but I'm not watching clickbait, 20-minute drawn out commercials for product placement (Hoonigan) or dragging a 3-minute repair out for half an hour (MightyCarMods). Nice to see Tavarish's project in an article that gives me a chuckle and I can cut quicker than watching YT in the evenings. Sidebar: anyone else experiencing a sort of "content overload"? Aside from researching repairs, there's a lot of good auto content on YT but it is tough to follow more than a dozen or more channels throughout the week, with all the clickbait stuff they need to do to stay relevant or get paid...
  3. It's sad that some of the basic fixes are the ones I'm seeing most often...like I've learned too much complex stuff over the years that I'm overlooking the simple stuff. Mower kept dying on me when it warmed up. Pull starter would make it smell like unburnt fuel. Buy a $3 spark plug and it'd run a little better but still stalled. Pulled coil (with magnet contacting engine fan for timing trigger) and all steel brackets and trigger fields are corroded. 5 minutes with an air dremel and wire brush and the mower's running better than it has in years. Congrats on figuring it out, OP...and the fix being cheap-as-free to get it back running !
  4. Any idea how long you guys will be there? I've got a dinner that night but will be done around 8-8:30.
  5. I remember seeing DTA09 on the boards recently. Sad to hear for sure, even though I didn't know the guy. RIP.
  6. Check City of Dublin, or wherever you live, Tim. There will often be a "Shred Day" in UA sponsored by some group or local business where you can bring docs to an Iron Mountain truck in a parking lot. If you're supremely concerned with sensitivity, I recommend the burn pile...but you're going to be at it for awhile. ...and I would remind you that your personal information is pretty much public knowledge at this point, with all the data breaches. Check out the latest today. Ever had blood work done for a physical, check-up, or job application? Yup...Quest Diagnostics exposed your info. https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Quest-Diagnostics-12-Million-People-Data-Breach-510754611.html :fuuuu:

Great to hear. Will he need PT at home, or go somewhere for it?
  8. Saw that...older model. I’m surprised Vintage Air hasn’t figured out a G-Body option...they made a million of them. Budget is under $1500 if possible. The big thing is fixing the water leak as it causes fogging/ice issues. May have to abandon A/C and just use a heater/defroster option.
  9. A good friend of mine inherited a ‘79 or ‘80 Chevy El Camino from his in-laws last year, driving it up from Georgia. It’s his wife’s granddad’s old car, and the family also gave some money to fix it up. We’ve all been busy with family/work stuff, but he and I are finally getting around to tackling a few projects on it now. Biggest thing is the El Camino’s A/C...factory, but doesn’t work. Combine that with a persistent leak from the cowl vent or Heater box itself, and my recommendation is to rip out the old factory system and start anew. Has anyone on this board had experience refreshing G-body Heater/defrost/air-conditioning systems? It seems most guys online are making drag cars, with a firewall delete plate. I couldn’t readily find a Vintage Air Kit...any help would be appreciated!
  10. Loving the updates, and progress! Keep it up...
  11. Those factory wheels look great on their own!
  12. https://jalopnik.com/the-two-disappointing-cadillac-v-series-cars-are-just-p-1835147699 Oh man...I smell Genesis G70/Kia Stinger blood in the water. ..
  13. Wells? https://earther.gizmodo.com/these-tornadoes-left-ohio-communities-looking-like-a-wa-1835073706 You can see a pic further down the article. Sorry for your friend...if it's him, looks like a hell of a lot of damage.
  14. Agreed. I'm not saying that they aren't going to be good cars - this Vsport thread proves that Cadillac can make a great product. The problem is going to be that it takes more than some happy automotive journos to turn the new V-sedans into Audi/Merc/BMW killers...at the dealership. You've got driving enthusiasts in their 40s now that grew up tuning VAGs and BMWs as their performance cars of choice. The aftermarket can make the 2.0T fly in VW and Audi products; it's going to be tough to get a new performance sedan going in today's marketplace.
  15. The problem I'm having with this rollout is it's really tough to see the difference between CT4 and CT5, except for tire size and license placement on the rear fascia. Are people going to come back to the sedan market so quickly from CUV's that Cadillac needed two small-midsize sedans? And, of course...no stick?!? I really do like the styling, but....no stick?!? CT4-V has a 2.7L truuuuuuuccckkk moooootooorrrrrrr . . . .:fuuuu: Also...where's the stick? :gabe:
  16. Have a safe and fun trip! Will be cool to hear your report and some pics when it's all over.
  17. Which one of you guys does this truck belong to? Newer all-white Silverado, bro-tastic wheels but usually hauling a heavy-duty trailer as well. Guessing hardscaping or yard work. Anthony Gray or Schmelmer? Been seeing it around NW Columbus/UA/rt 315. Impressed how much it's doing work while looking clean at the same time!
  18. When Trump tweets about something, it’s because he’s concerned about optics, making him look bad. I’ve also noticed it’s when he DID do something, and he’ll lie thinking it absolves him. https://www.wsj.com/articles/white-house-wanted-uss-john-mccain-out-of-sight-during-trump-japan-visit-11559173470 That’s a bonafide bitch move right there. Wouldn’t need to happen unless 1) he specifically requested it, or 2) WH knows he’d be a whiny bitch if McCain’s Name shows up in a pic so someone had it covered. Older family members of mine are quick to email-chain forward me a pic of Obama not holding his hand over his heart for the national anthem...but I’m pretty sure there won’t be some snarky meme about servicemen having to cover the name of a commissioned ship instead of having to move it because of someone’s sensitivity...

  20. $150 worth of stuff in a garage space and a leased/financed $10-40k car in the driveway. :gabe:
  21. Thank you for the Hangout, Doc...some fun snow drifting as well Appreciate your generous hosting over the years.
  22. https://twitter.com/SouvlakiForYou/status/1133225882611474432?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1133225882611474432&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fjalopnik.com%2Fajax%2Finset%2Fiframe%3Fid%3Dtwitter-1133225882611474432%26autosize%3D1 I heard about this on the news this morning, but I've never seen it before: note the red spot at the southern end of the western "hook echo"; that's the debris cloud from the tornado. Crazy stuff. I'm reminded of the Xenia tornadoes of 1974...before my time, but the stuff of Ohio weather lore...
  23. The suspension is definitely jittery over bumps. All of the stock shocks were rusty and a couple of them were also blown so I'll be curious how it rides with lowered shocks from Belltech or someone... I will say, taking the on-ramp this morning to work that the truck was flat. I'm not going to start autoXing it but just lowering the center of gravity, new front end parts, and a good alignment makes the truck turn in and track very nicely. Kinda makes me wish for more power. (#eBayturbo ) Truck sitting next to a downtown parking garage neighbor: factory W/T-spec 1500 Sierra longbed. Nice to see the difference in stance. I do love the front 3/4 view of this thing now. Makes me smile a bit more driving it around. Already got some compliments! NEED TO REPAIR RUST now...
