Kerry, be careful of "Gas-Clean-Automatic" cars on CL. I've found more than one of these light-on-details-with-out-of-place-pics-and-a-too-good-price to be fraudsters... If you're seriously selling a car, you'd really only use 2 pics? If you can post up to 8 or so for free, you can't get an engine/interior shot? even through a window? Virginia front plate???

I’ve been out of town since Monday, 2/4...haven’t driven it much. Still need to get title and plate done at the BMV. Haven’t even washed it yet! Looking forward to driving it once the weather warms up a bit and salt is off the road. Will update this thread. -
My bad...was on the road when I talk-to-texted this thread

My in-laws had some water damage from the leaky roof. The roof is repaired, but interior drywall needs replacing. Can anybody recommend a drywall hanger that we can trust? Thank you.

Cinqueterre. 5 fishing villages along the Riviera coast, connected by an amazing pathway that snakes along the cliffs. Amazing pesto, seafood...worth the train ride.

They do have a greenish tint to them. Cartier clock...all 77-79 Mark V's had it. Date even works! http://www.oxley.biz/images/Cartier-Penny10.jpg -

1977-78 had the 460/4bbl as an option. For the last year of the Mark V series, 1979’s only came with the 400/2bbl. Nice flow of torque, Still does 80+ easily. Not acontender for The Lists, though.... -

I enjoyed the look, and the ability to customize the stance. I think people make a mistake taking more modern cars and bagging them (like a newer Mustang or A4, for example): you ruin whatever handling gained from millions of dollars and miles to gain hard parking. With these old land yachts, you lose none of the handling characteristics because they are so floaty to begin with. Theres a ton of room for tire movement without modifying body panels, and the suspension tech is stone-age simple so I think it's a perfect platform for it. I won't do it right away, but maybe after a year of driving it, sorting out other things. -

I'm happily married 16 years; I run cars by my wife after a good amount of thought. I had been looking at Merc W115 "Stroke 8" 2-doors for months. Every time I found a decent one, she rubber-stamped NO on the old Mercedes idea. It's not that an old Lincoln is better than an old Mercedes, but I don't need to be fighting with her preference every time she sees it. I would've just passed on this Lincoln as well if she poo-poo'd it, but she really does love the color. Had to jump when I get buy-in from the wifey. -

- I love that these things are such a huge monster of a car, and can be found for less than $3k all day...while looking like nothing else on the road today. These were equivalent $55-$60k in today’s money back in 1979! - Super easy to work on, with robust (considering the era) engine/brakes/trans. It wasn’t a super car, but it was a super car. LSD rear-end with 4 wheel discs. - Coil springs all around so they’re easy to air bag. - The colors, man...the colors. - hideaway headlights. That’s the start to why I love these cars. I can’t say what the fucks wrong with me. -
Looks great as per the usual, Tim!

...another Lincoln Mark V. Since my parents bought my ‘78 last May, I have to say I missed not having a land yacht to cruise in. Like all of you, I kept a few searches ongoing (looking at old Benzes, COBs, or another Lincoln). Found this one locally, and negotiated a good deal. Wife loved the color, so it was ON... 49k original miles, was an estate sale from Toledo that a guy bought in 2017 and never drove it. Around 1300 miles since it’s last oil change...in 2005. I think it's Dark Jade Metallic, with a green interior, with a white top and white leather upholstery. It's got an older respray but the whole car looks pretty amazing, with NO RUST. Since it's the last year of the Mark V, it only had the 400ci engine (as opposed to the 460) but it's a whole lot tighter than my old car and runs really well on the highway. Looking forward to getting the white leather interior cleaned up and get some of the cracking filled in to make it a clean runner! From what I learned on my last Mark V, the plans are to airbag this boat with Slam Specialties SS7's, and keep an eye out for some wire wheels and whitewalls as well. It does have the aluminum Turbine wheels with gold inserts, so I am 50/50 on just getting new tires on the factory wheels...but the offset is really inboard. Note the dust on the car...hoping it will look amazing once it's cleaned up! Updates to follow.

Very cool video. Amazing to see the transformation!

Thank you, guys!

Is there anyone locally that works on old electronics/stereo equipment? Head unit in a ‘70s car turns on, but hardly any sound to the speakers; I'm wondering what can be done to fix it without resorting to an aftermarket solution. TIA.

Death to roadsalt. Death to winter. Fucking sucks to see on such a nice Jeep.

Well done, my man! Looking forward to seeing this thing cleaned up.

Great info, thanks. I think what I put in bold letters will be a key point: even if you foot the bill, if he's searching for and finds something in a budget you guys agree on, I do feel he's going to be more likely to "own" it mentally, taking care of it and fixing it up.

Curious what your son's into from a sports/activities standpoint, and how far away from home he's gotta drive for high school. If you live out in the country, might be a better idea to get something more reliable, fuel-efficient, and/or AWD instead of an older Wrangler. I toy with the idea of a Wrangler for my daughter in the next 6 years (also for the family as a fun toy), but it's justifiable as her school "commute" wouldn't be more than 2 miles: no highways, MPG not a concern, and she can walk safely if it breaks down.

Wow. I thought the Kitchen could do with a POSITIVE thread for once! Yes, Brian is and continues to be "the man", and a favorite uncle to his nephew. 2002 Malibu with a rusted everything and bald tires, but it starts, runs, drives, and has heat when the reservoir is filled with coolant.

Earlier this month, I asked CR if I could get some help finding a dirt cheap car for a woman at my church on a very tight budget. A longtime CR member let me know of a perfect car candidate for the right price that a family member was looking to get rid of. I reached out to the contact, and after explaining the situation, they offered an even greater discount. My friend was incredibly appreciative. It was a rough situation, where we had been letting her use one of our cars, and I was worried we wouldn’t find anything she can comfortably drive. Happy to report I’ve got a little bit of work to give her a nice, new daily driver. I truly appreciate the efforts of some great people on this board: a little help, some good news, guidance here and there....really makes this a valuable resource in my world. Thanks to everyone that works to help others through this site.

Thanks again, guys. I made a couple of referrals to the guy who was asking
