Been thinking about getting rid of the 69....
zeitgeist57 replied to Ackbar00's topic in Passing Lane
Yeah I’m a big fan of land yachts... those Galaxies are talking to me. BUT, they won’t be any faster. -
Do you have any pics of the interior?

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-bentley-continental-gt-8/ Twin-turbo W12 for $23k! Gold paintjob from previous owner...but they coated the doorjambs so that's a pretty good job...

1) That rust pictured is a killer 2) N/A MB 4-cylinder diesel??? You'd have to ship that monster because I doubt it would get through the Rockies at altitude. 65hp/101tq  3) Old RV's aren't worth the decades of petri-dish disgustingness that resides inside IMO. You'd have to steam-clean hard surfaces and replace everything fabric. All that being said, I still think it's super cool. Those OM diesels are bulletproof.

Do you have a warehouse for all this car goodness? I'm remembering MINI's being worked on in a condo garage it looked like...
-
Good luck with the sale, Meeler! That backload garage is cool.

Oddly enough*, I'm not a fan of the Allroad when it's slightly lowered. I think it's the factory wheels; could use something with a lip to it... *this comment coming from a guy that cuts springs on pickups for moar low.

Coyote Bros, what is with the strange TRQ at 3,000 - 3,500 RPM?
zeitgeist57 replied to Nate1647545505's topic in Passing Lane
^^LOL. Some Ford guys holding court over the Tuner crowd: "Listen you sissy boys...when you're ready to step up into the BIG LEAGUE, give me a call" Head2Head on Motor Trend did a Mustang GT Performance Pack against Camaro SS 1LE - great video on their site. Article below: http://www.motortrend.com/cars/chevrolet/camaro/2018/2018-chevrolet-camaro-ss-1le-vs-2018-ford-mustang-gt-performance-pack-comparison/ If it was my dollar I'd rock the Mustang GT350 over a Camaro ZL1. -
Where's he located? I've got some scrap to run as well...

That's a fine-looking Escape!

Good deal on a floor jack at Costco (At least I think it is)
zeitgeist57 replied to SpaceGhost's topic in Passing Lane
That is a good deal. There's a very similar one at HF for $98. I grabbed the low-profile/extended reach 2-ton and it's my favorite jack. Can get under my Lincoln with the airbags aired out and the BMW as well, while having the reach to get under cross-braces. https://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-low-profilelong-reach-steel-heavy-duty-service-jack-with-rapid-pump-60678.html -
Conventional Wisdom - to which DJT doesn't subscribe to - tells us to stop the tariffs to bring the markets back to normal. The consumer needs to vote with their wallet; if we don't want to support the Chinese, then buy American products!!!! Problem is: China has infiltrated our economy in nearly every form of production and consumption. Problem is: It's not easy to buy products in 2018 that don't benefit China in some way. Problem is: China continues to be a gross violator of international laws regarding corporate IP. Fact is: the U.S. stock market takes a hit based on perceived economic impact to these China/U.S. tariffs, but then volumes/prices pick back up. The one thing in Trump's favor is that stock investors (individuals, corporates, wire houses, institutional investors) seem to love him at the helm. IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID...if stocks continue to trade around 24k-25k, I think Trump's ego will continue to support his decisions. MAYBE the tariffs work at getting China to back off their government-supported unfair economic policies..........but I don't think it will. Dunno what else Trump can do. There's definitely no "graceful" ANYTHING with our current foreign policy dealings.

Hey, does anyone else have recommendations for rebuilding a power steering rack? Maval sent a very nice email same day saying they can't rebuild the rack. I called SteerandGear twice and no callback.

True, but China invests a ton in Treasurys which helps float our debt and also normalizes the yield curve: if China stops buying U.S. debt, interest rates can rise and have a much worse effect on our economy than tariffs. Admittedly, that's an economically-NUCLEAR option as China needs the safety of U.S. Treasuries in an uncertain world and our consumer base for Chinese products. I'm just not sure where Trump is going with this escalation aside from a cocky stance that the U.S. stands to benefit from closing free-market global channels against a communist economy that's already grown sufficiently through market subsidies to it's home producers and open violations of international trade laws. TL;DR - we already gave the shop away by allowing China to steal trade secrets for decades in exchange for cheap goods to satisfy fat American consumerism greed; trade war via tariffs between China and U.S. doesn't help anyone (U.S. producers and consumers) in the long run.
-
Shrewdly, the Chinese are targeting industries centered around areas of the U.S. that supported Trump in the last election. If there's a better example of a "Trade War" using surgical bombs in the form of economic tariffs/sanctions to target a foreign government, I'd like to see it. Folks, to reference an oft-used '80s quote from "Top Gun", Trump's ego is writing checks our economy can't cash. Literally. We're $20T in debt, with much of that owed to China specifically.

YEAH!!! How tacky... ...at least make it chrome!!! *flame suit on* :zoom: https://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-Chevy-Car-Truck-10-Bolt-Chrome-Plated-Steel-Differential-Cover-w-Drain-Plug/220588971443?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D50998%26meid%3Df8aacf03a3eb46ea9d3919702f027fa2%26pid%3D100623%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D291834841381%26itm%3D220588971443&_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1

Findlay work truck that was at Indian Lake? Chevy with a worn seat??? IT'S LIKE WE'RE TWINSIES!!!1! Nice truck! I'm debating on keeping the rear fender flares on mine when I upgrade rolling stock. It's a cheap way of adding some clean body accents despite the "patina'd" body. Looking good! Mad respect for the SM465 as well.

Fucking LOL. I was just saying at Easter brunch amongst family, "is there a way to require Alexa to only respond after you say "PLEASE"? I feel we're setting a terrible precedent for society".

I'm going to sound the Sirens of Awesomeness in your honor, sir.

Engine speed. Specifically 1500-ish RPMs, but it does sound like a rattle around there when in park. Oh....it's also got a partial-throttle misfire. I saw a video where that could also be causing the "rattle" which smooths out under stronger throttle.

Whoa, whoa...hang on. There's a lot to unwrap with this guy... You did a Vettehack. Respect. You did...ahem...a 222k-mile 4.8 swap with quad turbos?!?! This isn't the hero we deserve...it's the hero we need.

Thanks for all the comments, guys! I know beater trucks mean a lot to CR folk. I got a gallon of Corroseal and let a CC&C guy use some of it for his Miata rocker rust. He was raving about it. I pulled off the rusty wiper arms (baby steps) and treated them with a scour, overnight coat of Corroseal, and sprayed with a matte black...they look like new. Yeeeaaaahhh...you're going to have to rent UHaul for that one. I'm still in the helpful hauling business, not in the "friends can use my truck" business. I was an ex-ODOT yellow one...II was a primer gray '86 C10 Heavy Half...III was the nicer blue/white '82 C20 Diesel...IV was RED though everyone did legit say it was orange, I swear I painted it "Ford 9N" red from TSC. Here's Cleetus I: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=301&pictureid=2057 I replaced a flexplate in Cleetus III, not fucking surprising if it's that $35 part, as apparently GM sought to make flexplates for their tee-ruks out of cereal-box cardboard. Will dig into that. I've driven it 444miles roundtrip to Kokomo, IN, and have put almost 3,000 total miles since buying it in January and the noise hasn't gotten any worse, while sometimes going away altogether. It does seem to disappear above 2000-2500RPM??? Maybe just loose TC-to-flexplate bolts?

I just Googled it and it said 4000-4600lbs...I swear the Mettler Toledo scale at COSI said "3240" when it was on it. I need to haul some trash so I'll see what SWACO weighs me in on when I'm down there.
