  1. I agree with all of that but the turn signal switch not turning off. most cars have cancelling cam that flips the blinker off after you turn the spring is probably bad.
  2. you can buy a kit from jegs to do the swap I'm not saying its drop in but it does make it easier. you can look around and find one already done usually cheaper that way. good luck
  3. sounds like a tourque converter problem. I recomend the saturn dealer or transmission shop.
  4. you can probably still buy the carpet from gm tell them you have an el camino or that you need the front carpet for a chevelle or malibu. JC whitney would be your next best choice after that you might try auto custom carpet (ACC) they have good prices as well.
  5. sounds like a cracked flexplate. they only last so long. could be a loose bolt but they are supposed to have loctite on them to keep them from backing out.
  6. for motor building info talk to kevin or craig marshall the work at co-own the two gas stations on hamilton road where everyone buys race gas in the summer they run a couple of superstock dodges in IHRA and have a guy who builds motors for them
  7. did you break the cam or do you want it reground? if its busted buy a new cam, if you want it reground Columbus col-weld can spray weld and regrind the cam you can also send it out to cam company like lunati or crower for the same type of service.
  8. the cable needs adjusted. I'm assuming you use it all the time scince you drive a stick. the cable stretchs a little and lets the pedal(arm) flop around some. the adjustment should be right at the pedal(arm) you'll have to get a service book or look at it close to see what kinds of tools you'll need though.
  9. please remeber the tech forum is for people actually looking for help. IF YOU CAN'T HELP DON'T FUCKING POST. thanks
  10. a digital dash will require a different harness you'll probably never find a park ave with a tach I'll keep my eye out for ya though.
  11. I did a real quick search. http://www.chicagolandmopar.com/index.asp there should be some local mopar clubs as well. if he waits untill summer you can hit up the mopar show in august for parts and stuff. there is a guy named Tim who is having a Cuda restored locally he works at the advance auto parts on gender road. I don't remember the phone number but its in the book. good luck. call me when your ready to work on your truck.
  12. does the upper radiator hose pressurize? if not the thermostat is stuck shut you need to fill the coolin system with the engine ideling and the radiator cap off. if your going to be working on it soon pm and I'll give you a hand with it scince I just live down the street.
  13. is the trip odometer still part of the speedometer on that model? if it is just get a speedo from the junkyard and swap it out.
  14. if you already have an established wear pattern they will always be noisy. 85-140 gear oil will help keep the noise down. get the gears set properly as soon as you can. to much lash puts a high amount of load on a part of the gear not designed to carry it.
  15. I'm not overly concerned with the wiring and stuff I've got the factory assembly manual- the one they used in 1970 at the factory to put the car together. the 1971 fisher body manual and the dealer service book. I wsa more wondering about bracing up the body when removing to keep it from twisting or flexing. the motor tranny gastank and most of the interior have been removed I'm also pulling the fron tclip seperatly because the core support needs some serious welding to make it right again. I'll take some pictures when I have it all apart.
  16. I'm going to put new body mounts in paint the frame and replace all the fuel and brake lines before I get started on major body work like floors and quarters. I have a pretty good Idea about what this is going to entail removing the interior disconecting the wiring harnesses pull the motor but sometimes its the little details that get ya. if any of you have done this before lemme know if anything special has to be removed to get it apart. Car is 1971 skylark custom (GM A-BODY) but if you've pulled the cab off of a truck its probably about the same any help or ides appreciated thanks
  17. top cylinder cleaner like seafoam is good. DO NOT USE ENGINE FLUSH, it does nasty shit like pick up little pieces of casting flash and plugs up your oil pickup tube. the seafoam gets carbon off of the top of the pistons and helps prvent detonation. yearly maintenece should be filters tune up fluid change etc. always use premium quality fluids and filters. I don't use synthetics but I do use good additives from lucas oil products works out to the same price either way
  18. the good ole straight six. prolly has a carter on it. If you can bring it to columbus I can make it work right. the choke has to be adjusted properly. try this too put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator to partially block the airflow helping the jeep heat up faster it has a pretty good radiator in it and carbed cars WILL NOT run right if they are not at operating tempature. hope this helps.
  19. are you building a street car or a race car? I'm just asking because it makes the car extreemly unsafe for regular street driving. Hensler just had a car acid dipped contact Stolen 5.0 he can tell ya where they had it done.
  20. yes the tv cable has to be adjusted dead on and its a bitch to get it right sometimes. I had an 89 RS Camaro 305 that someone had swapped a carb onto it tok a whole weekend to adjust the damn cable.
  21. 1st make sure the piston is all the way to the top of the cylinder you can check by putting a smallish srewdriver in the plug hole and rotating the motor untill the screwdriver no longer rises. 2nd if you don't have a fairly large compressor it may not be able to pump enough air to hold the valves up if it still won't use the rope trick I can come by and help you one night this week if you want, scince I need to stop by anyway lemme know
  22. special winter pricing now in effect
  23. reprogram the ECU cam headers bigger blower beef up the trans .......... depends on when she decides its fast enough if the heads are shitty I'll just have them ported or sell them to someone else who needs a core for what I paid for them I'm not getting ripped it sucks that the guy is a scammer but oh well thats ebay for ya
