if i knew what i was doing and felt like i could do that, i would. fact is this is the first car ive ever really worked on, and doing that timing belt last night (since thats basically what i did, only resetting the belt that was in there) was probably the biggest task ive tackled. i can get a new engine for this car for 350$ with 26k miles. i have a buddy who has a spare head (complete) i can get for cheap, but if i test it and get no compression and find out the valves are bent, im just gonna put a new engine in since im sure the pistons will have some damage. no sense in pulling the head to put a new one on and find out the pistons are damaged josh - im gonna head over and grab shawns tonight. i appreciate the offer...btw, where is your new place? is it between broad/havens corner or is it south of broad?

like i said, if she wants to move to blacklick (waggoner/broad) she can get a place where im living...its not as bad as gahanna manor, but there is some section 8 (but they're no longer accepting it, so no new section 8 residents)...ive got a 2 bedroom/2 bath with huge kitchen (for an appt) for 565/mo and thats on a 6 mo lease...1 year is 10$/mo cheaper. i thought it would be a little worse being that there is section 8, but in the 2 months ive been there, the biggest problem i had was catching a couple kids sitting on my car in the first week i was in...nothing since. my 2 bedroom is i think 981 sq/ft (i think...i know its very close to 1,000) has a nice size living room, huge master bedroom...utilities are all electric, no gas, no water bill...all we pay is electric, cable/internet, and rent. my electric bill is about 75$/mo, same for cable, and 565/rent, looking at about 725$/mo in total bills. and like i said, thats for a 2 bedroom not to mention at 7:30 am, i can leave my apartment, and get to 270 in about 15 minutes, and to my job close to yearling/5th (right by the hoop) by 7:50. if i go noth on waggoner and then west on havens corner, i can be in the heart of gahanna in about 10 minutes. if shes interested, let me know so she can use me as a referral

yeah, but then again, i would never want to live anywhere but here...you live here your whole life anywhere else is like "um, wtf" the only thing i dont like about the arbors (my mom just moved in a few months ago and i was looking to for a while) is that they cover 0 utilities. you pay water, sewer, gas, electric, trash. i got lucky where i moved in in blacklick, i pay electric and cable/internet. theres no gas, they cover water/sewer/trash. if she doesnt mind an extra few minutes, the place im at in blacklick is not bad at all, and fairly new...built in like 95

i used to live over in the area and know a couple people who live in them...its gahanna...not bad...i wouldnt say those are the nicest apartments in gahanna by far, but they're not penny lane. have her look into the other side of town near hamilton...its closer to the police station and seems to be a little calmer...have her check out hunters ridge phase 1/2, the arbors, that area.

update....got the timing belt back on and everything set to TDC...not as hard as i thought it would be, but probably the biggest thing ive tackled pretty much solo on this car. got everything put back together, started it up, ran for about 2 seconds (rough) and died...didnt hear any valves ticking/knocking...im thinking i just need to get it timed right at this point. big relief.

+1...possibly interested in a male...can she get the hook up on booster shots and stuff to get them going (as far as medically)? i have a cat now that i dont want to get worms or any other sickness from a new kitten.

not sure if ill need it yet, but things are looking like i may...long story short, a cam gear install went bad, i think i jumped time by a couple teeth and may have bent some valves...if so, im sure there will be piston damage. going to try to get it timed right tonight, if everything is ok, ill be good. if not, im just going to replace the whole engine...i can get one for cheap, and it will be less of a headache on me. its a 2003 hyundai elantra, 4cyl engine...looking at the bay and hearing from a couple other people, it shouldnt be difficult. it looks like the engine/tranny will lift right out without having to be heavily manuvered. i can help if needed, so im thinking a day and this should be in and out who should i contact? trying to keep it on the cheap, but not so cheap that its going to sacrifice something wrong happening

saw a car in the blacklick area today...reynoldsburg new albany rd/havens corner intersection...had ford badges, license plate said "C SHELBY"...it definately wasnt a mustang, it didnt look like a ford GT. it was silver with 2 fat maroon racing stripes...it was a coupe, very sporty looking...for some reason, when we were looking at it head on, it gave me a bit of a camaro vibe...i dont know why. when we turned and it turned the tail lights were 4 circle tails...when we were pulling up, i first thought jaguar XJ8 (i think...the sporty 2 door) i know its not much to work with, but maybe someone will know what im talking about...

wow. if the paint on my car wasn't such crap, i would be on this like white on rice. looks great. i cant wait to have a new car again, and keep it looking new

take it from me, dont do it. i was in a wreck in june 03, made the mistake of taking my car there...there was some scratches/knicks, i asked them to repaint the car (insurance estimated paint/labor at almost 1k for the accident area) with the top of the line paint job...like the signature service i think its called. it was the most expensive package they had. also paid them like 150-200 for wetsand/buff...since then, it has been back probably 8-9 times (no exaggeration), has been COMPLETELY re-painted 2x, and i still have dirt under the paint, paint chipping (in areas that cant even get hit by anything to chip...like my hood by the windshiled, where it meets the fender, on the edge), got parts painted that shouldnt have been (mirror delta bases), spots that didnt get fully painted (under side of spoiler), overspray EVERYWHERE, and my newest find, white spots on the hood...looks like gravel chips, but its under the clear coat and not to mention, the first 7-8 fuckups were at the main street location (behind flowerama, dont go there)...once they fucked up for the last time i called maaco corportate, which took a while since they're franchised, but they sent me to grove city location (i want to say on harrisburg pike/alkire rd...sound right?? its behind a small dealership), i was told they would repaint the car, get it back and its still terrible. when i pointed out problems (dirt under paint, bottom of spoiler matte finish due to not getting cleared) to the shop, the response i was given was "well no paint job can be 100% perfect"...i just sat there like "youre a fucking paint shop. is this a joke?" last time it was in their shop was may, so ive been meaning to get off my ass and write corporate a letter. this thread will remind me to get off my ass bottom line, dont do it unless you dont care what the car looks like. please
