  1. For what you're describing (and in that price range), the S5 is tough to beat. Clients won't give it a second look in a parking lot and think they're over paying you. They're rare enough that you won't see yourself everyday. And they 'drive' really well. That would be my recommendation. 3 series are played out and mostly driven my women. And modded ones are still slow. I will still say though for a quiet, reliable, great daily driver, I LOVE my CTSV. I ran a 10.98 on DR's in the mid 120's a couple weeks ago. Wife thinks its bone stock. I wanted the fastest automatic 4 door I could buy (without having to go crazy with unreliable mods), and IMHO nothing can touch a V. Plus I debadged it and nobody gives it a second look. Although I don't recommend an "enthusiast" try to compromise and buy a single 12 month car that does everything well, you still may want to think about a GTR. They run low/mid 10's in the mid 130's with just simple bolt-ons, can scare you (and your instructor) at Mid-Ohio, and you can really drive it everyday without any headaches. But then again, you'll want to continue making it faster, and then the DD aspect starts to become more of an issue (i.e. too nice to drive everyday, etc.).... Regardless, car shopping is fun....let us know what you decide!
  2. Got home about 5am last night after a long past 10 days. My short version: we basically couldn't catch a break. My long version: A freak motor issue (and still unexplained by a number of folks who have taken a look at everything) prevented us from finishing testing some of the changes we completed a week before the race. So Accelerated patched together a new motor and they finished assembling literally Friday and loaded everything into the trailer unfortunately completely untested. We arrived into Maryland Sat am crossing our fingers. Unloaded the car, JN loaded a few Motec changes along with a new nitrous table using different aux inputs (trying to correct a wheel sensor pick-up problem we had in testing) and fired it up. After waiting through two hours of oil down after oil down, we finally get to the line for Q1. Arm the N20, pre-stage, bump in on the tbrake and it starts lurching forward then immediately catches fire from a N20 backfire. Basically the new N20 aux table wasn't recognizing the inputs and just started spraying as soon as it was armed. I remember thinking this can’t be happening, but when fire started coming up through the tranny tunnel, it started to get hot real fast. I was about to pull the Safecraft, but Don quickly killed the main power and prevented any serious damage. In hindsight, not having really thought this situation completely through before, I turned the ignition and fuel pump off quick enough, but left the acc on, which kept the N20 active. The crazy thing is other than the shredded intake, some lines, solenoids, wiring, and a few other misc things, the car was unscathed. Not sure if it was the 40 degree temp, the killer wax Beege put on it or just sheer luck, but nothing cosmetically was damaged in the least. Pretty lucky I guess. After contemplating packing it up, we started taking things apart and realized if we could find the parts we needed and a TIG welder, we might be able to put it back together in time to make the last round of qualifying. J Miller and his track crew introduced us to everyone we needed to hopefully get it running again. The intake was really ripped up, but after a lot of hammering and some impressive welding skills, it was leak free. We fired the car back up late Sat night, I make a quick test run down the access road and loaded it back into the trailer. Sunday arrives and we have one chance to make qualifying. After much debate about the strategy and tune-up, my kill mode suggestion was over ruled for a safe wastegate spring, no N20 pass. We ended up qualifying #8 with a 7.97 peddling 2nd. I believe the bump was 8.44. Unfortunately, we got knocked out during the first round (due to what we believe was a failed nitrous solenoid failed at the launch). It only cut a 1.55 60 but still ran a 8.05 to a winning 7.99. On the bright side, we cut a 1.23 60 ft Sunday am and ran a 1.25 and 1.26 the week prior on our only two hits, so we’re getting the launch/suspension figured out on the 28*10.5 - when everything works properly. The car is making great power too. We ran a 7.67 on a problematic ‘kill mode’ pass the week prior, so we’re confident it has a 5x in it within some more testing. We’re not going to let BL keep the .59 WR for much longer. We were all really looking forward to this event, so it was obviously a disappointing end result. But I guess it would have been a small miracle to do much better given all the set backs we had. But at the same time, it was a week we’ll all remember for awhile! Jason and his team put on a killer show and all the Domestic 275 guys we've become friends are great to hang out with. We'll be back next year with hopefully less last minute changes and some more time to test.
  3. Don and my wife are friends...and Don thinks it too dangerous...and hence its created issues with my wife. My Supra is 250 lbs ligher than SW's and makes more power.... Switzer is holding back and waiting until Tx.....
  4. Maybe GTR next year - depends again on whether Tym will support it. I didn't build the Audi to go all out - it's more of a balanced sleeper. But I bet it would do 185+.
  5. That's a built motor car with twin GT30's running Q16. Makes 200 more hp than my car. I own the stock block/bolt-on record - on stock turbine housings too. AMS owns the built motor record - for now. Should be fun - AMS is a smoke and mirrors shop. 9.19 with a 1.52 60 at a questionable hillbilly track. It'll be tough for any big turbo GTR to 60 a low to mid 1.40 - which is about what it'll take to get an 8.99 at near current power levels. Trans/clutch/suspension/driveline will all need to be upgraded to achieve that - and none of it is available yet.
  6. Just watched. I need to find another shop if I want to do the Mile in a Supra - Accelerated Performance won't let me do it
  7. It shouldn't really be making any more power on e98....we switched for the sole reason of not being able to get true e85 this late in the season.
  8. Looking forward to it Linn. It's pretty nasty from a dig - when its not raining out.
  9. As expected there is so much misinformation floating around. I was there at the 3/4 marker and caught the whole thing. It was pretty scary as we all thought he was dead. This was the first time UGR/Richard deployed a chute at this speed. The cross wind had little to do with the accident. 1st mistake: Richard hit the brakes before it was deployed. 2nd mistake: chute was mounted too low, at the wrong angle, and without a launcher. You'll see in the video it was deploying about 18 inches off the ground (due to the velocity) and when it opened, it lifted the rear. I have a really good video, but I can't post for another couple days. And for those who say Richard can't drive, he'll admit he's careless at times, but he can out drive 100% of this board. He said he's done with these cars now, but he's coming back next year with one of his turbo busas. We'll see....I think it was the adrenaline talking..... And Richard represents he spent $1.2M total, not just on that car. Between Jonah's 5 UGR cars, Kyle's and Richard's....they make up 80% of UGR...and paid for Kevin's Rolex, his wife's tits, and her tacky ring. The only shop more arrogant and annoying than these guys is AMS...and they don't even have the average talent UGR does....
  10. Thanks guys. As for the 'first born'...if its a cute girl...my wife may talk.
  11. Thanks guys. No trades, I need more garage space!!!
  12. Thanks. I tried to post a classified on AZ, but I couldn't (I'm not on that forum, but did post some pics on the B5 sub-forum). I assume you need some post count before you can place an ad? I have no clue what to ask, but I have a LOT into it, so it'll be a good deal for someone.
  13. So unfortunately the time has come to finally sell my S4. I rarely drive it anymore and basically I need some more garage space. If I could convince my wife to let me put a couple lifts in our garage, I would keep it….but she has pictures in her head of cars falling on our kids. It's arguably the nicest condition S4 in the country and probably one of the most modified. I'm embarrassed to admit the money I have spent modding it over the years. But those who have seen some of my other cars will appreciate the same detailed and ‘no expense spared’ mentality I have had towards this S4. I'm asking 29k firm. I would love to see this car stay in Ohio. Details of mods and some history are below. I bought it new back in March of 2002 (last year for the B5). The chassis has 40,400 miles. No accidents, no snow, and it has rarely seen rain. Other than a few minor chips on front bumper (and one very small chip on hood), it is flawless inside and outside. I have the original window sticker, and all maintenance and mod receipts from day one (oil changed minimum every 3k). It would make for a great all weather daily, but I can't bring myself to beating it up everyday. It has never been on a road course or drag strip, but a similar turbo kit built by the same shop who assembled this car (VAST Performance out of Detroit) trapped 134 a couple years ago. It dyno'd 595 awhp at 26 psi on 104 unleaded on a Mustang dyno when we finished the motor build spring 2009 (when most of the current round of mods were completed). The built motor has approximately 3k miles on it since. The custom VAST software allows a pump/race gas program switch using the cruise control stalk. Everything runs perfect and I've had zero issues with it. I've only run a couple tanks of 104 through it, so it is normally cruised around just on pump gas. Feel free to speak with Mike or Prince at VAST as they obviously know the car really well. I am also happy to dyno it again at a local Mustang dyno (I don't have the original dyno graph but I suspect Mike still does) and do a leak down/compression test for anyone who is seriously interested. The mod list is below: Engine My original 2.7L block was machined and assembled by Don Summerton of Accelerated Performance (who builds all my motors) using Pauter rods, new OEM pistons, new OEM crank, Raceware 4 bolt main studs and Clevite bearings. New oil pump, water pump and timing belt kit installed at time of motor build. Custom VAST twin GT2860 turbo and fueling kit Ported higher flowing Euro 2.8L heads with RS4 cams, new Supertech valve train and springs, raceware studs RS4 TB VAST meth injection kit AWE intercoolers RS4 oil cooler Custom Fast Intentions 3 inch dual exhaust (no cats) VAST Stage 4 clutch (Southbend) with new OEM flywheel Suspension STaSIS Motorsport Coilovers (700/800 lb springs) Brakes ECS Stage 4 Porsche brake kit (front and rear) Wheels/Tires 19" Volk Time Attack custom powder coated in light gunmetal Goodyear F1 GS-D3 235/35/19 Exterior RS4 front bumper RS4 grille Clear corner Euro lights with HID kit Rear trunk lip (E46 M3) Interior Recaro Sportster CS front seats Custom matching alcatera/black leather rear seats OEM RS4 carbon fiber trim OEM RS4 shift knob JHM short shifter A/F gauge and 30 psi boost gauge Sparco pedals Hardwired for a V1 50% tint There are a number of smaller things I have not included, but it should give you an idea of what I've done. Again, if you're in the market for one of (if not the nicest) B5 S4's with one owner and no stories, this is it. Feel free to PM with any questions. 14. No, just heading down there to watch. Supra is hitting the track next week to test for MIR World Cup. Tym is too busy to help support a full GTR effort. Maybe next March, we'll see. PPG 1st gear and Dodson/Exedy clutches, seals, pumps, etc. No, he just helps assemble - he doesn't make anything for them.
  15. Thanks guys. I absolutely love it. My wife and/or I drive it nearly everyday, rain or shine. It's a killer daily driver. As for mods, its basically a standard P800 kit (IC's, intake, DP, exhaust) with slightly larger turbine wheels inside the stock housings. Add 2200 cc injectors with a custom fuel system and it runs e85 with ease. Looks like we've got the tranny figured out. That was literally the first time the car's been launched.
  16. Hey Linn, yea, we were at Norwalk testing it Tuesday. Ran it 3 times. I kind of like it wingless....and we picked up 2 mph!
  17. Now this is funny....an LSX with a 91mm bitching ....:asshole:
  18. No, I'm a ways off. I believe it's still held by Sal's Viper at 7.5x. BL ran a 7.59 in epic TX conditions last March (although they switched to a Ford 9 inch to do it) and Titan ran a 7.6x last fall with the stock rear end. I arguably have the car to do it - just need to spend a lot more time on 60 ft testing - and frankly I don't have the desire to spend the time needed. I race 3-4 times a year, and that's about all the time I can justify.
  19. You're the most insecure old fart I've ever met. Agree, see above.
  20. I want to make sure everyone knows I am a tool bag
  21. Sam, cool build-never saw any details or pics before. Just curious, what's the performance advantage doing this swap into a 3 series chassis? Is it that much lighter than a stripped out LX? I wouldn't think the IRS would hook as well as the Mustang? Seems like a great deal for a steetable car that traps nearly 140!
  22. The slip differences are not due to carrying the beams Ray. Ask your boy Ron to explain. I was just pointing out the obvious. But it doesn't matter, whatever you want to believe. I've never compared my car to yours, but if you want to start, bring it to MIR or meet us up at Milan later this month. I'm buying. And what's money have to do with this again? I can just as easily tell you that you over spent to run 8.30's....or Mark over spent to run 8.xx's. We each built a car we liked and have achieved respective success. You're an angry old man....
