  1. We went up to Norwalk tonight for the test-n-tune and I made my first runs in the Supra. My first pass I trapped 170 at our low boost setting off nitrous. Second pass I trapped 175....but in showing my true rookie status....left the line in 2nd gear. Our nitrous tune was off the charts rich and we only cut a 1.67 60 on the 8.56 pass still on low boost....and it wouldn't flash up on the tbrake. Other than dumping a quart of oil at the line with an oil fitting that worked itself loose, it was a good night. We have a ways to go, but it's showing some real promise.
  2. Thanks everyone for the comments. Although it looks like it's going to be pretty cold Friday night, we're tentatively planning on getting out to Norwalk to do some more testing. We're estimating it's going to take well into July to get it sorted out, so we're just going to take it slow. But we'll do everything we can to get a 7 second pass by mid summer. No Supra has done it on 28" tires, so that's what we're shooting for. We're planning on switching between the Milan DR class and the Norwalk 10.5 True Street to make the set-up that much more challenging. But we need to get the DR's sorted-out to run it on the street. Based on some of the domestics we know that run each series, it really shouldn't be that competive in either, but we'll see. We can go with a bigger tire and turbo later in the year once we max out the 47-88. Accelerated Performance was called by the HIN marketing director yesterday to feature it at the 5/31 show, so it'll be down there in case any of you want to check it out. It's not exactly what we had in mind for the car, but AP needs some marketing exposure, so they decided to take advantage of the offer. I guess that show car paint job will come in handy.
  3. The plate easily goes on with a removable chute mount.
  4. Here's a quick teaser vid of our 2nd launch....just did a 330 test pass before track closed. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Accelerated-Performance-Track-Testing_161731.htm
  5. It's been a long time coming....18 months....but who's counting , and we should have it out on the track tomorrow night for our first test and tune session. Assumnig all continues to go well, I'll be running our first drag radial race in a couple weeks up at Milan and 10.5 True Street at Norwalk in June. Here's a quick video on the dyno making 2 of our 12 passes. Other than a leaky air-to-water intercooler core that held us back Monday night, it performed flawlessly on the 2nd dyno session. Not a single issue. Amazing luck I guess. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Accelerated-Performance-Supra_161477.htm
  6. Right, Darin went 8.55 @ 172 last month. He's going to try to break into the 40's in Tx. His Supra is just as streetable as my previous one.
  7. I didn't click on your video, but only 6sp Viper I'm aware of supposedly in the 7's (but with lots of controversy) is Garth's car. We tried to set up a hw race with Gary before I sold it, but he couldn't make it. I really like the new 08 Vipers....but if I do another build, it'll be another Porsche.
  8. It was based closely on OEM Toyota Spectra Blue Mica
  9. Those are rolling wheels/tires, not what we're going to actually run with.
  10. Thanks everyone for the comments. Linn, it's actually pretty easy sliding in....Reese taught me some moves to make it quick and better yet quick getting out . Austin, I'll be running it both on the street and on the track, more track time this summer though, then more street miles next summer when we swap in a 6speed. It has everything hooked up that my old Supra did, so technically, it's just about as street legal. Cage is so we'll be legal on the track. But for street use, I'll also be wearing a helmet....
  11. I took these tonight as Beege and company finished assembly of the car over the past couple weeks along with practically daily visits from Cain Toyota, which dropped of who knows how many SKU's.... The pictures just don't do justice to Beege's work! Gary Reese is finishing some suspension and steering work over the next few days and then it heads back to Accelerated Performance for final interior, wiring and motor work. Tuning is scheduled for 3/14 and if all goes well, down to Texas the following week for the first test-n-tune. At 18 months, it might be the longest Supra build in recent history, but I think worth the wait. http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p239/ohiok04s4/IMG_0005.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p239/ohiok04s4/IMG_0004.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p239/ohiok04s4/IMG_0003.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p239/ohiok04s4/IMG_0006.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p239/ohiok04s4/IMG_0007.jpg
  12. Big difference between hooking at the track and on the street. We worked hard at getting mine to hook on the street and best we could do was hook 3rd on high boost and that was a solid accomplishment.
  13. Who's Supra is running a solid rear?
  14. You will have lots of frustration with that condition Supra with that type of owner. Be prepared to put another 10k into it within a year, excluding the paint...and like others have said, it won't resell well with a savage title, regardless of how nice it is. If you can afford a decent one for $35-40k, you'll be much happier in the long run and won't lose as much on the resell.
  15. Stock tranny, heavily modified suspension, 1.38 60's
  16. Good things come to those who wait....for the EVOLUTION
  17. There, how's that? Only one is running though! The chevy
  18. Faster, yes. Finished, not yet. Hoping to fire it up mid January.
  19. Yea, it went to Supra Hell New owner was getting ready to run a sprayed busa supposedly for $5k a couple months back, brake boosted 3rd, lost control, took out the rider and hit a concrete median. Rider broke some bones, driver broke some bones. It obviously could have been much worse. We had a memorial service on SF awhile back!
  20. Maybe a misread your post, but it cracks me up when randoms like you bench race a dyno number. This is a street car, not a race car. If it'll get you excited, I'll race your race car with a race car when they are both finished.
  21. Sorry to hear Tilley. Higher end diamonds are very difficult to sell. In my opinion, giving that diamond to your future wife is not a good idea. So the best I can come up with....assuming you don't need the cash right now....is to barter the next round of mods with a tuner with a serious girlfriend
  22. Doubt it. We're planning on testing the Pro-EFI for Jason in the spring, but don't think we'll do much if anything more to it other than get the tune dialed in which should make some more power. We're using Oliver rods and Diamond pistons. I misspoke and mentioned CP somewhere before...forgot this isn't a 2JZ.
  23. No problem, happy to answer all your questions. We did a mild exhaust port and replaced most of the OEM parts. QM fabbed the stand alone. Bottom end is fully built....Callies crank, rods, CP pistons, etc. 11.7 CR. I can cruise in 6th at 80 no problem. I think that's around 1700-1800. No bucking. Perfectly smooth. I'm using a Ram dual.....no issues.
  24. Thanks. We've still got some work to do with the a/f tune, but we'll get there in the spring. We were using straight 103 in the stand alone cell and a mix of 93/103 in the tank. There was zero cf, so we might be ok with straight pump in at least cooler weather.
  25. I don't have enough experience with nitrous to make a fair comparison, but for a more frequent driver, I'd say nitrous is the way to go. Each are a PITA quite frankly. Although its much less expensive than a well done turbo kit, you do end up paying for it through more overall hassle making sure everything is set before you make a run. And you can't make unlimited runs whenever you feel like it. I need a 30 bottle bottle
