  1. The guy I sold the car to never liked it and only put ~200 miles on it in 4 years. I made him an offer to buy the car and spares back and he said yes. Brought the car (and 3 pallets of spares) home today along with extra body panels. Excited to have it back! Going to make it something that can be driven on the street, used for AutoX, Track Days, or whatever. It is a z0k package car from 2006 and only 16 were made that year. Doubt it will be worth a ton of money someday, but it only has 5500 miles on it and only 2 recorded owners. Need to make some modifications to be easier to get in and out of, but can't wait to get to drive it again!
  2. I understand what you are saying about the track and the message that can send. I agree. I was not clear that my kids did no activities on a race track. The class is wet braking, emergency lane change, and skid control. Outside the small group of people who are enthusiasts (on a forum like this), people absolutely do not drive well at all. Our drivers-ed program and license test are both a joke. I lose count daily of the dumb stuff drivers do and am confident saying I avoid at least 2 accidents a week with heads up driving.
  3. The teen school is a basic driving class. Nothing close to racing - basic car control skills only. I can't imagine how bad of a driver my son would have been without that class.
  4. Both of my kids did the Mid-Ohio teen school and both had accidents. My son just struggled with driving. Nothing serious, but several small issues that all involved his car. The last event (sliding into a curb in the winter), he had to source the parts and do the repair with me. I charged him $100 for the use of my garage/tools/and my time. Don't know if that actually helped, but that was the last incident he had. Daughter Rear ended her best friend because she was following too close. First words out of her mouth to me were: I was too close to her and I will never do that again. That was ~8 years ago and she is a good driver (now).
  5. Yea... If I was going to sell it, I would go that way. But the car is just so much fun to drive and is in such awesome condition that I think I would regret selling it. Of course everything is for sale for the right price but I think the number it would take is well above what the car would bring (which is a good thing).
  6. The Kosei K1s are what I keep going back to. (I think I have a wheel type as well) They are out of stock at Tire Rack for another month or two so I have time to figure out if I want to go that way. Was kicking around the idea of getting the stock steel wheels, but just don't think I can do it.
  7. I can shoehorn my 6'4" 260# ass in there. It ain't pretty getting in and out, but once I'm crammed in - it is awesome.
  8. I ran across a deal on this 1992 Miata base 5-speed (no p/s or a/c) with 21k original miles. I trailered it home and gave it a once over to make sure it was good to go. Everything works like it should. All original except for the rims and the radio and the rims need to go. (searching for new rims and can't make up my mind!) I've put about 180 miles on it and man is it fun to drive! No real power but plenty of power for what it is. No a/c is only an issue when sitting at a light (says the bald guy). I have been shocked at the smile this little car puts on my face when I drive it. It needs a little PDR for a few dings but other than that it is in like new condition.
  9. Sold the ITA Civic and have the following parts left. Cost/Value came from looking up purchase price or what the part seems to sell for now. Package pricing discounted ~65% with a few single items listed at the bottom. If pricing is out of line - let me know. Would really like to sell as packages and not piece by piece. Feel free to make your own package as well. Pics provided as needed. Parts are located in Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110. Local pickup is preferred. 11. Follow-up on my PLA 'not sticking' issue. Tossed some parts at the printer, spent tons of time ensuring the bed was level, and swapped to different MFG for PLA. Daughter had conversations on another board and everyone was shocked that we were getting the PLA to stick at all without using a glue stick. (We had never used glue and had great luck with the PLA sticking to the bed) We used a glue stick and the printer worked great. Several prints and no issues so we are going to use glue sticks going forward and call the issue resolved. Our next issue is the rolls of PLA we are using seem to be wound poorly and are catching on themselves when unspooling.
  12. Well Hung Door is who I use. Went to high school with Joe the owner. He does great work and is available 24x7 if needed. Calling is the best way to get in touch with Joe. Good luck! (614) 668-3825 wellhungdoor1@gmail.com
  13. Thanks for the tips!! We (I) thought we were leveling the bed properly and had been having success printing 25-30 things. Will clean the bed again and do the leveling dance to see if that makes a difference. I am using copy paper and getting to that dragging feeling on each corner. We have changed a bunch of things now, so hoping we didn't mess anything else up.
  14. Love the topic!! Daughter and I have been messing with an Creality Ender 3 v2 printer for a few months. We were having good luck with printing, but are having a bad spell with not being able to get the PLA to stick to the heated bed. We have replaced print head, feeder tube, extruder, and are using good/new PLA. We are thinking the print heads we purchased are crap and could be causing this issue. We are swapping the head with a different new one this weekend to see if that helps. Any ideas on what else to try would be greatly appreciated! I have leveled the bed (and am pretty good at it now), the bed is clean (tried 2 beds), and the temperature seems to be right for both the bed and the head.
  15. So if you have made 9 payments, that money should/will come back to you and can help offset that $4k difference. The MFG should be willing to work with you to get you into another car so they can not actually have cash going back to you, but will be getting you into another car. Could work out in your favor to end up with a one year newer model with the same payment/term. You don't get what you don't ask for. I think the #1 priority is to start that process today.
  16. Hopefully this helps: https://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/Files/Publications-Files/Publications-for-Consumers/Lemon-Law-Booklet
  17. There should be information in your owners manual talking about the Lemon Law and what to do if you believe your car is a Lemon. I did this many years ago and the process was very easy to initiate and complete. I had a minivan that the sliding doors would lock and unlock at will driving down the road. 7 attempts to correct the issue and then I started the Lemon Law paperwork. Took a month or so, but they took the van back and I agreed to just get my down payment back. (The law says they have to give you all the money you paid including payments, but I didn't think that was fair since I drove the van and they provided a rental while repairs were attempted). I would recommend taking a look at the law and the paperwork for your vehicle. It may be an easy process for you to start and see how it goes. I get wanting to talk to an attorney, but you may be surprised at how easy the process actually is. Good luck!
  18. If you have this in containers less than or equal to 5 gal. each, local parts store(s) could get this done for you. They won't take all of it at one location, but spread around a few stores you should be able to get rid of it all. I've had luck disposing of 10-15 gallons at the AutoZone at Brice and Refugee (area). The Pickerington location will take 5 gallons, but that has been my 'max' there in a week. Good luck!!
  19. I used a local company (found on FB) to deliver and install a 4 post lift with a bridge jack in my garage. The building is a 30x03 with a low(ish) ceiling and I love it. That back garage door doesn't open with the lift in the 'up' position. This is not an issue for me since that door leads to the back yard. I paid ~$3800 for the lift delivered, installed and including the bridge jack. National Auto Tools 1659 Watkins Road Columbus, OH 43207 (541)777-0556 Pic of lift installed:
  20. My new (to us) house is a 1250 sq/ft ranch with full basement (mostly finished) and is all electric (no gas available). Built in the early 70's but has had extensive remodel work done over the years. We keep the house at 70 from 6a to Midnight and drop it to 68 for those 6 hours we are all asleep. Heat pump works great and we have no issues keeping the house at the temp we want. The nest thermostat does whatever magic it does and we stay warm no matter the outside temp. We have lived here for 15 months and the Feb electric bill is the highest we have seen at $303. In the spring and fall, we have seen the bill as low as $100 for a month and we do not skimp on using electricity in the house or in the shop. Since the only bills we have are electric, cable, and trash, we are very happy with the cost to heat this place.
  21. My Hagerty policy does not have any restrictions for the street vehicles and trailer they insure. There are restrictions on the race cars, but those are expected for dedicated track vehicles. I will have a look at Grundy but would be shocked if there were a cheaper option than what I pay Hagerty annually.
  22. I've never used my own insurance to handle an accident that I was not at fault for. I just worked with the insurance company directly to get my car fixed, medical bills paid, and get reimbursed for any other expenses I had from the accident. Not sure how much of a pain in the ass that would be dealing with 2 different insurance companies, but that could be a factor and a reason to just use your company to get your car fixed and let them deal with recouping the money. (to your point, that could go against you no matter what they tell you when they are helping you with the process) Sounds like a crappy situation - good luck!
