  1. It's that time of year, my old Incredibad finally took a lethal hit. What are the collective thoughts on the current phones on the market? Is the LTE network here to stay for awhile? Should I hold out for an Iphone 5? :gabe: I mainly use my phone for email and storage, but I do play around with some apps. I'm not hip and don't really care about streaming media. Thoughts?
  2. Also want to add: I was able to snag both a Leupold Mark4 SS and LR/T under their AD military/leo discount program. You need to call their customer sales direct and purchase at MSRP. I think the discount was in the 10%-15% range.
  3. Nope, manufacturer rebate. I picked up one as well as my brother for his 6.55 oddity build.
  4. Worry not, the Millet's have a cult following just as large, with alot of positive things to say. I spend more $$$$ on my gear to offset my average shooting ability -- that way, I can't blame the gun or gear, just me.
  5. Those who know me (and for those who don't), know that I stick to glass brands chosen by military/LE. I'm a glass homo that can justify spending 1,xxx on a good set of glass. However, not many people can justify dropping that kind of money on something they use for sport and recreation... Enter the Busnhell Elite Tactical: good glass, good adjustment, decent turrets. I've seen these often at Thunder Valley and Young's up north on top of everything from .338 LM to .50 BMG. A majority of the owners love them, few gripes about the turret movement, and the quality of the glass. KY shooter supply has the second focal plane version, mil dot, 6-25, 50mm for 619.99, with Bushnell offering a 75$ mail in rebate - that isn't to bad of a deal. Review from John @ 8541 Tactical: Stress test: Rebate form (good on all versions of the elite) http://www.bushnell.com/global/promotions KY Shooter Supply web store: http://www.kyshooterssupply.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=bushnell+elite+tactical&x=0&y=0
  6. Just make everything square/plumb as possible. Level the rifle, level the scope. You can use feeler gauges inbetween the rail/base and a flat surface or by visualy checking against a thick string/rope with a plumb bob and aligning accordingly.
  7. Here's another way to look at it: http://www.eatel.net/~stentorian/targetplottrajectory3.swf
  8. Looking good. I've seen the Millet line get decent reviews, you'll have to post back when you get some time behind it. You want your reticle to be plumb with gravity as that's how the bullet will fall. That way, when you adjust your elevation turret or windage turrent, they track 100% true to their direction. To see a visual with numbers, head over to http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmtraj_simp-5.1.cgi and play with the cant angle. There's also a field test here http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2189771#Post2189771
  9. Nice build. John is a wealth of knowledge and one of the most humble guys when it comes to flat out facts. As far as glass goes, what kind of ranges do you plan on shooting?
  10. +1 I bought a Mark 4 SS for around the same price as my Mark 4 LR/T -- sometimes I regret it as that $$$ could have went towards a US Optics or S&B. Curious to see how it works out -- hopefully you won't have to mount it upside down...and it has enough clarity to pick up impacts.
  11. Nice collection. I really need to pick up .22 based weapons.
  12. I still do keep in touch with some friends that work at NASA Glenn....
  13. I wouldn't say being a civilian hurts your chances, but be aware veterans and disabled veterans get 'front of line' options when it comes to the ranking system. You'll see it as "points" in their system. Some areas will look more into your education and experience. I've seen civilians with degree/experience hired over military/experiance and the opposite -- all depends on what that shop is looking for. Apply -- worst thing they can do is send an email saying you werent forwarded.
  14. Any of you that are former military -- don't let the federal hiring process detur you!
  15. If Romney does get elected -- I hope he turns to someone like C. Powell on matters concerning foreign policy, takes the advice verbatim, and never attempts to think on his own. There are many things I don't agree with happening in the present -- but I honostly do value having someone at the helm who has a large pool of cultural understanding. It may be extremely left, it may be sympathetic to the "religion of peace" but hearing Romney and Paul talk about anything outside this country (sans investing) out right scares the bejesus out of me, both as citizen and soldier.
  16. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=24933862#post24933862 Mike has a lead on decent chassis TL;DR: He did a cage on the car, it sat outside, rusted over.
  17. I didn't notice, does the car get airbornnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?
  18. It does, and I had similar feelings about being over tacticool -- but we did ran similar setups overseas (back ups + mag + 55x + other junk) I'll try and get a picture tonight.
  19. I picked up Eo Tech's G23 Flip to side mount, and have to say, I'm some what in love with it. I found a decent deal with their G33 next gen setups hitting the market soon. It's hard to beat a TA31, but, I would say give the G23/33 mag a try.
  20. +1, just remeber your body weight is free
