I second guessed that too. However, I think the odds are in your favor there: you're not supposed to make a 3rd-for-21 and the penalty clearly took them out of FG range. So, I can see where you take the penalty. Of course, hindsight is 20/20.

I don't know the stats, but I can recall from recent memory that USC has no problem traveling east and straight waxing teams, including Nebraska, Virginia, and Arkansas. Also, yeah, I noticed Urban jawing at Vrabel and Fickell too. I think they kind of deserved it. Our defense, which was supposed to be our strong point this year, has not been impressive in the least. Two games in, and I'm a total fan of Urban. I love how aggressive he is. I love how he actually answers questions - unlike Tressell, who I can't recall ever giving a straightforward answer in the decade or so that he was here. I'm fine with us going for it on 4th-and-1 and not getting it occasionally as opposed to fucking punt, punt, punt, punt.

I'm picking Stanford over USC as my upset special. And wooooow Pac12 owns the B1G since the 1990s - that stat is just gross.

P.S. I was in Detroit about a month ago for a weekend. First night stayed downtown at the Greektown casino hotel. There are plenty of bars, etc. to go to down there and things didn't look too sketchy (though just driving into downtown Detroit gives you seasonal affective disorder). The casino itself is meh and I was annoyed by the fact that it wreaks of cigarette smoke. Apparently, you can still smoke in there. When you leave, you will wreak of smoke. If you smoke, awesome; if you don't, prepare yourself.

Juicy and LJ - I think you guys are both saying the same thing, which is that WVU is a good team, Geno Smith is a good player, and the Big East isn't very good and doesn't get a lot of respect. Speaking of the Big East, who in the hell even plays in that conference now? Louisville? Groveport Madison?

It's so weird saying WVU is in the Big 12. I've always quietly kind of liked WVU, though I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it's because I've viewed them as a team that doesn't get enough respect/high enough rankings. I also liked that the shellacked a couple of teams in bowl games in recent years when they were favored to lose (e.g., Oklahoma). I think WVU could easily win the B12. Oklahoma doesn't impress me. They've never really impressed me in recent years, to tell you the truth. Oklahoma State is still a paper tiger and Texas looks to be quickly becoming Notre Dame of the South. How Texas doesn't have 94 more national championships I'll never know. Is there anyone else in the Big 12 that is thought to be a contender? TCU?

I could concede everything you just said - which is that, in essence, the SEC is a better conference top-to-bottom than the B10 - and it would do nothing to detract from my statement that the SEC is over-hyped.
