  1. true true I can get it done for $210, so far insured and done from a reputable company was hoping someone on here knew of someone that would charge more like $150 I had two quotes @ 150 - 180, but i didn't trust either of the drivers One might have understood me had i used spanish, the other sounded drunk and wasn't sure he would be available I'll call back the drunk tomorrow and see what he sounds like then i'm thinking that if you call after 5pm, you're calling the drivers direct and not the owner/operator/shop, that's already closed
  2. i thought about it - but isn't worth the hassle that'd be a solid $50 + the headache of going to get the u-haul gas on a truck would be another solid $50 wear and tear on the truck...and an extra few hours + no insurance + etc etc
  3. I need to tow a car from Columbus (campus area) to south lebanon, right off I-71 toward cincinnati door to door is about 85 miles i just called 25 towtruck companies and my blood pressure increased upon every call - i think i got ahold of every drunk redneck in the state if i could even find a driver that wasn't drunk or asleep or someone who spoke english...this is usually what i got: me: "hi, i was wanting to get a quote for a tow on thursday" them: "a what" me: "a quote" them: "huh?" me: "a quote, you know...how much, a price" them: "oh" me: "you DO do towing, right?" them: "yes" me: "ok...so you can you tell me how much for 85 miles toward cincinnati on I-71?" them: "i guess we can do that" anyone have a good recommendation? i think the cheapest i found was $50 for the hook and $2.00 a mile i'd like to pay a bit cheaper than that, and i'd prefer a rollback anyone do this or have an idea? thanks (it's going to exit 28 on I-71)
  4. that silicon injection is pretty popular in other countries, from what i've heard expecially in japan and other countries where...they're smaller Last i heard, it was starting to catch on in England a little too obviously, 'twas taken too far
  5. powers said it well depends why it was salvaged if it was a simple reason - doesn't matter I had a 1967 Grand Prix, 350 HP 4 spd - neat car It was a salvage title because in the early 80's someone dented the rear bumper. The rear bumper for that car is almost $500. For a car that was worth $1,000 back then - insurance paid the car off and made it a salvage title Like NOS50 said - really depends... However, regardless - you have to think about resale You might believe the story on why it's a salvage title, but would the next buyer? Resale will definitely be hurt if you resell a lot of the vehicles you buy, and quickly...it's something to take into account So, if you're going to buy to use and you don't think the salvage was a problem - it's worth it If you buy/resell your vehicles every few years and might have to dump some money into this one to get it right or maintain it - might not be worth it cuz you won't get the $ back out
  6. what i've seen agrees with Grease Monkey i have many friends trying to do this for a living by the time they hit about age 35 (if it even takes this long), they realize it was a poor career choice and hate it so bad they don't want to wake up a few are the lucky ones...that start up a machine shop or something but the vast majority will view it as a mistake, i think it might be fun for 5 years....but can you imagine working day in, day out on cars when you're 50?
  7. take a look for me if you would, i'm interested (although i need two of them)
  8. what brand is the 3" cutout? DMH or quicktime?
  9. Wouldn't mind a nice digital or regular adjustable timing light (prefer ditigal) maybe even a set of those nifty gear wrenches don't want to buy either new
  10. the original th350, i think? haven't driven it yet, actually motor's gonna start this week, i hope if it were a 4 spd, it wouldn't be sold only reason i'm selling...is that i just did one conversion from auto to 4spd and don't have the time for another (nor do i need another)
  11. New body new motor (350 pontiac) lots of new stuff i should have it running fairly soon New full quarters, gto hood, GTO tail panel, rockers, windshield, motor rebuilt (original) etc $6,000 OBO an incredible intro to a hotrod if you want will post pics if anyone is interested btw, it's an automatic
  12. i pay $50 too - sounds like the type of garage i have all i could get
  13. i've went through that about 3 different times - keep chickening out every time i hear about it all, i figure i should wait a few more years for better technology, etc what price did he quote you?

  15. i just saw a truck drive by on the road behind the water. . . that doesn't make this too promising for an abundance of animals
  16. ...wish i could see what was splashing in the water (night now)
  17. props to whoever can take the coolest screenshot of an animal or something else cool whether it be props for having the most spare time, or most pathetic life... is yet to be seen
  18. the camera's very fluid for me and actually moving around and following a bird walking on the ground, at the moment
  19. those are neat cars way ahead of their day i've never found financing for classic cars to be very easy they'd rather you buy a 20k plastic POS and have to buy another 20K plastic POS in 5 years...and keep you hooked it sometimes helps if you tell them what an incredible deal you're getting on the car - say it's worth 20k and you're getting it for 10
  20. your PM box is full interested in other GM a-body parts?? those doors are too $ for me
  21. was hoping she'd be 20...
  22. from what i understand, there's quite a few different procedures the expensive route these days involves a digital cutter, which tracks the movement of your eye and will cut with precision it severely diminishes the possibility of you ending up being blind, because a computer is tracking if you eye moves slightly or you flinch or whatever as opposed to some of the other, cheaper procedures where it's more manually controlled...which introduces a possibiliy of error (even if it's small)
  23. not ESPN's fault? Correct me if i'm wrong, but it didn't air on ONN tonight because ESPN refused to allow them to do so (i tried to tune in and it had a message "ESPN will not allow us to show this game - sorry"), or something to the effect that's ridiculously shitty college sport and all...coming down to the mighty buck i'd expect it from pro football But we're talking about a state-run school that we pay for, through our taxes and we can't even watch them play football? It's ridiculous
  24. didn't you just pass me downtown in that car? (pass my 'ole 66 gto convertible - white?) it looked pretty good in the rear view mirror i already can't remember if it was earlier today or yesterday i saw you it was your paint scheme, so pretty sure it was you ...was on 670

    just look!
