  1. My wife and I are living with my parents right now for that exact reason. We are working on paying off our wedding and saving for a house. Should save us about 20k/year in doing this. We didn't want to start our life together with debt. Do it.
  2. My father in law's 2006 Silverado with the 5.3 rwd got right at 20mpg for him. Real world 20mpg's in a full size is pretty good. He will be turning in his lease soon though.
  3. I am down for a cruise sometime. Let me know.
  4. As far as the 2.0T's go, all of the chip tuners seem to be producing very similar gains. The battle of who can get 5 more hp at redline is less important than a competent local shop with quality customer service.
  5. The only problem with GIAC is you have to work with Auto Assets. I will never give them another penny of my money, and I know many people that only use them for their flash capability because of similar sentiments. As Jones said, I would look into becoming a retailer of APR. They have a full range of products for Audi/VW/Porsche and are VERY popular. I will be getting APR's software next summer and as Jones said, a 1.5-2 hour drive is in order to do that.
  6. I have a Porter Cable 7424 machine, good selection of pads and some good polishes from Menzerna. I also have some left over carnuba wax. If you wanted to come over to my place, you can use my stuff for a small fee. ( just the cost of the materials used) No more than $20. I would recommend you pick up some microfiber drying towels, buffing towels and applicators though. Also a good wax. You could get 75% of the scratches out with what I have, and only be out about $50 total. Let me know.
  7. very interesting. Looking forward to the end result.

    Gearheadz

Went over to Gearheadz shop to get some help with an intake bracket. He got everything made up and it works great. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a shop. Thanks again man, I appreciate it!

    need a welder

I think its stainless, but I am not sure. If not, its aluminized. Its a 90 elbow for an exhaust. Pretty sure its stainless. Not 100% though.

    need a welder

I am making a custom intake for my GTI and need a support bracket welded. I have 2 2" pieces of piping that I need welded together, and a large washer welded on one end. I then need all of that welded onto the intake piping. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.
  13. There is a bunch of flags on cleveland ave across from the rec center. There is a ceremony and they are flying over it tomorrow I think.

    My audi.

You asked for an opinion. I think all kits besides factory kits look ridiculous. Ugly x2 x2 x2 They are classic looking cars, do the the performance mods and skip the body kit. Full suspension Porsche brakes light weight wheels with sticky tires engine mods
  16. And we give Mel Gibson shit........ glad you like it

    My audi.

I have always loved the URS4/6's. However I will beat the crap out of you if you put a body kit on it. Pay the $300 for a detail by one of the detailers on this site. Then focus on the suspension. I would replace all of the bushings and bearings and strut mounts along with a good spring/shock combo and maybe a rear sway bar. Give the suspension a once over now, and you will be set for big power down the road. If that isn't enough $, next focus on the brakes. Find a good brake upgrade and do SS lines, fluid, and a larger rotor and caliper. Finally after all of that and around $2,000 you can focus on the engine. That is just my opinion, most like to go straight to the power mods instead of prepping the suspension and brakes for the power first.
  18. I feel bad for the guy bigtime...........even if it was the ugliest S2000 I have ever seen.
  19. nice cars.........welcome
  20. Stock is 370 crank hp. 323 is 87% of the 370 crank hp. So 13% loss with intake and exhaust. You are thinking of the SRT-8's 425 crank hp which would be about 25% loss.
  21. Funny thing is its a quote from The Fast and the Furious.........:asshole:
  22. My first car was a 1995 Taurus SE 3.8 Auto with about 75k miles on it. It was my dad's car and was given to me. I took Excellent care of the car, and sold it for 3200 about a year later. With some of my own money from working I bought a 1995 Taurus SHO and replaced the trans for about 5k total. I have kept all of my cars in excellent shape and it had nothing to do with whether I paid for it or not. Some of you guys are MEGA sensitive about the whole parents paying for cars thing. If a kid respects what they have, and respects that it was a generous gift, then there will be no attitude. I was given a lot and still am helped by my parents while in college and have nothing but appreciation for what my parents have and are giving me.
  23. Both cars have their +/- SS/SC will be a bit newer on average, faster stock and have an available LSD. GTI will have a better interior, more practical, optional engines. Both get great gas mileage, are VERY modable and have good enthusiast cultures. Of course coming from an Audi/VW guy and a MKV GTI owner I would take the MKIV GTI any day over the SS/SC. Good luck man.
  24. 25. You have to put down the money, so its all up to you anyway. You can find an owner of any car make that has been unhappy with their car. Toyota and Honda owners that have had their car in the shop just as often as an Audi or Mercedes. It really depends on how the car is maintained and who does the work. No doubt a German car will be more expensive in the long run than a Honda/Toyota, but you really can't compare the two. I would look at the MKIV GTI or Jetta. They can be had in either 1.8T or 2.8 VR6 and are a blast to drive. 1.8T for mod potential, and VR6 for reliability and sound. I would drive both a SS/SC and a GTI and see which you like better.
