  1. I have only met a few people on here from basketball a few months ago, so I will be in the same boat. I am sure there will be lots of people there, so just park the car and start talking to people. I will be the big 6'6" 335lb guy driving a black GTI.
  2. No idea. Most of the time you don't have to do much unless you lower it >2" and I am pretty sure those wont. Not many people are having issues on the MKV cars, so I don't know much about that. Good luck.
  3. It doesn't say its specifically for the W8, but I am not sure you will find any W8 specific cup kits or coilovers http://www.allsprings.com/catalog/vw-passat-hr-cup-kits.htm W8 specific springs http://www.allsprings.com/catalog/vw-passat-w8-hr-sport-springs-2002-05.htm bbs ch wheel looks great on ALL Audi/VW cars http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_garage/WheelSearch.jsp?autoMake=Volkswagen&autoModel=Passat+W8+Sedan&autoYear=2003&autoModClar=
  4. Ouch. lol. Good luck. Set him up with a good set of H&R springs and some bilstein shocks. Not sure of parts numbers though. The MKV GTI, B6 passat, and most audi's use the 5x112 bolt pattern.
  5. I would really read this thread. The W8 is a horrible engine. I was considering one 2 years ago but immediately crossed it off of my list after about 2 minutes of reading through vortex. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3943349 Of course this does not help you or your customer as a current owner, just some info. Because of this info, I would not mod the engine AT ALL. If the engine does fail, mods that aren't reversible by the owner in short notice with factory parts would result in 100% denial of help with repairs by VWoA. With that said, you can use any suspension kit made for a B5 Passat, as well as wheels. Here is the parts classifieds from vortex, might be able to scrounge up a good deal on suspension. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeroforum?id=820 Here is the wheels and tires classifieds, the W8 takes a 5x112 with an offset of 35-45 which is most popular for Audi, not VW http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeromain?id=88 Hope this helps.
  6. Cool, I will stop by for sure. Just 5 minutes from my house.
  7. Oh, I just caught the GXP, missed the bonnie part. Thanks
  8. Doesn't the GXP use an LSX 5.3? I didn't think it was the northstar engine.

  10. Stretch has been hashed and re-hashed for years. Some love it, some hate it. I def lean towards hating it. TE7two has as much stretch as I can stand. As for trying to argue the benefits of stretch, good luck. There is no upside to running a tire in a way it was NOT designed for. Tires are designed to be used a certain way, and performance will be peak abiding by those specifications. It was started for people in Europe to run wheels that were not meant for a certain vehicle. Since the law states you can not have the contact patch stick out past the fender, stretch was used to get wide wheels to be legal. It is for LOOKS, not performance, end of story. And as shanton said, saw blades are def not "current" in VW land. I do like them in black though.
  11. I will show up to meet more people, but not to dyno.
  12. Does anyone need a couple of filters? I am going to get 4 free filters when I go, and they don't carry VW filters. I tried this once about a year ago and got - rep for it....... Thanks for the heads up on the sale.
  13. The awd vue redline had transmission problems, but should be a decent car. I have heard that the GC have quite a few problems. A/C and heaters, transmissions, differentials. I did a bunch of research on the pre 05 body style and crossed it off of the list because of my research. Many owners said they are very expensive if they break, and the forums didn't paint a flattering picture, such as the problems mentioned above. I would def try to find a nice TB.
  14. The RX8 is not fast, they handle fantastic, but are not fast, a stock GLI should take one. But that is beside the point. The RX8 is a car that is unlike any other. It handles with the best of them, looks pretty good, has a good interior is fairly practical and did I say it handles? Its not fast, guzzles gas and requires endless gear changes. The GLI is a compromise car. It has good tq, has good handling, has good mpg, has good interior, has good trunk and 4 doors and is mod friendly. However don't think you can make a GLI handle like your RX8. It wont. It is FWD, and everyone knows the limitations of that. Good in the snow and rain, but not optimal for handling and putting down power. It does nothing great, but most things well. That is Audi and VW's meal ticket, some don't like their cars because of that fact, but they have a cult following that is unlike any other make. I say go for it, but I am a huge Audi/VW guy. I drove an RX8 and loved it all besides the engine. The MS3 engine would make the car a BLAST. I will post this up in your other thread too.

  16. If you want a MKV car, golfmkv.com is a good one. However for the majority of VW's, vortex is all that is there. Anything we can help you with? There are quite a few people here with the MKIV GLI and a few MKV GTI's that could probably answer most questions.
  17. It was faster than my GTI, thats for sure. Loved the feeling of the N/A engine.
  18. I didn't mean it was the best sounding car ever made. It was a generalization about the cars in its class, and it is my opinion. You can not say my opinion is wrong on something that is 100% subjective. With that said, name a car from VW that sounds better than the R32. The 2.5 I5 sounds like an R32, but not nearly as good. Also, the only Audi's I think sound better are the 4.2 V8's, and the V10's. The mustang V8 sounds great too. these are all my opinion though.
  19. No, your info was appreciated. Basic info like that, however, does not take into account the extra special cars that enthusiasts usually are looking for. Take your auction values, add 500 to get the car to a dealer, 1000 for new tires or misc items and the usual 4k markup and you are right at 17-20k. It helped me figure everything out. The more aspects to take into account, the better off the buyer will be. Thanks for all of the help.
  20. Do you daily your WS6? what kind of issues do the f bodies have? Noob questions I know, but I don't know the details. Thanks.
  21. exactly. Real world values for a well maintained 04 R32 are around 17-22k depending on condition and miles. Obviously high miles and bad condition are worth even less.
  22. My car? I could probably only get about 12-13K for it. The Certified warranty it has is non transferable, so it would be wasted money.
