  1. Nice find! Will make a great gift for "the kids" :gabe:
  2. I don't have enough info on this particular situation to definitively answer whether or not this was false advertising. But I can assure you, the rest of your statement is incorrect.
  3. For the people that believe selling the car (and letting the buyer take it) would expose the dealer to "bait and switch"...... You mean to tell me that every car advertised MUST remain on the lot during the time advertised The dealer will have proof (in the paperwork) that they did indeed have the said car available during the said promotion... and it sold. Plain and simple. The stipulations they are imposing (car remains on the lot for 21 days) however could expose them to a lawsuit, depending on the fine print in the ad.
  4. I have heard of the $59 or $99 car ads. It's just to drive traffic like they said. BUT, to require the car to stay on the lot for 21 days... and then offer no explanation as to why... I don't get it.
  5. Looks good Lose the front plate. Why the front and rear Talon badges?
  6. I process through First Data. I read for hours to understand how the system works. Basically the short part is this: You get charged by your processor and the customers card company. You can't negotiate the charges on the customer's card end. They happen to be the higher charges. I got First Data down to 25 basis points. (.25%) + the charges on the other end. Then ask for a listing of what all cards charge how much broken down by transaction type. The cheapest is a debit transaction. On debit I pay $.01 + (0.35% of transaction amount) in total. Not too bad. Amex charges are the highest....
  7. Congrats on the sweet ride. I would happily DD one!
  8. Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start
  9. I consider these to be flaws in the current system. History would paint a picture showing that in times when the safety nets were lowered, people would naturally do what it takes to survive. I think many of these recipients are complacent. There is no incentive to take the next step up. If they get a job making a little more, with some benefits, then they lose the government assistance. So why bother making the lateral move? I really think the largest problem lies with the government and the people writing legislation on things that they don't understand. Watch senate hearings, or congressional meetings and it's clear we aren't represented by the most intelligent of our population. (there are a few exceptions to that statement) Let's face it, the whole system is broken. From top to bottom and side to side. Frustration from every end leads to everyone bickering and garnering hate towards people with opposing views. It just feeds into the vicious cycle.
  10. My only advice is get one with the good tires. I got my kids an Escalade when they were young and the damn thing wouldn't move on anything but flat ground.
  11. It's a matter of semantics. Their definition of fraud is different than what most expect. A 35 year old, with 5 kids, that is 150 lbs over weight, who is better off financially on the system than getting an entry level job, and decides to leech off the system isn't "fraud" in their eyes. That person is included in the 9 out of 10 that "need" the help.
  12. I am going to try to address this as respectfully as I can. So please don't take offense. I think it is awesome that you are going after your dream. I applaud you for not giving up, and doing the extra work required. As far as I can tell, you are FAR from a drain on society. That being said.... You and you alone make the choice to chase a dream rather than accept employment somewhere securing health care benefits for yourself. If you need medical care and can't afford it, I don't think anyone else should be burdened with your debt. As far as I can tell... you don't think other people should pay your way either. You, my friend, seem to be in the minority. A responsible dream chaser. The people who want responsible members of society to subsidize their healthcare while they galavant through life doing whatever they please are the ones that people bitch about.
  13. Don't take what I said out of context. I don't loathe people below the poverty line. In fact I have family members living below it. I know many people that bust their asses for next to nothing. Here is my honest question, and please don't take it wrong. Why don't you seek full time employment with a company that offers benefits? EDIT: And I never said I believed anyone should be turned away. Before the ACA no one was turned away, and my premiums were more affordable. My argument is merely that we took a step backwards rather than forwards.
  14. Define taking advantage of the system. A company that that nets 500k in profit has a $175,000 federal tax liability. This doesn't even taking into all the other bullshit taxes that they have to pay (like Ohio CAT Tax.. dont get me started on that one) So this company uses typical write-offs and deductions to get that tax liability down to $120,000 (plus all the bullshit other taxes). To you that might seem like "taking advantage". To me, it is reducing the RIDICULOUS base amount, to one that is somewhat easier to swallow. But a person who pays $500 in taxes all year... then gets a $10k refund, free housing, free insurance, free food. (a net drain) That is taking advantage You can only take away from productive society and support those not willing to support themselves for so long..... eventually something will give
  15. Nope. Because in reality, if I wreck my car without insurance I expect to have to go bankrupt. I'm fed up with laws to protect us from ourselves. If you are too fucking stupid to cover yourself... well you get what you deserve. Don't give me the un-insurable BS. When HIPAA was passed in 1996 they required group plans to accept people regardless of pre-existing conditions. So you either A. Work for someone who offers a group plan or B. Dont work, and get on medicare medicaid
  16. I wrecked my uninsured car into some dudes lambo. I totaled his 100k car, and he had another 200k in medical bills. I chose not insure my car.. I thought I was a good driver. Why should I be forced into bankruptcy?
  17. For the record, I was just stirring the pot. I know extremely intelligent and successful people on both sides of the aisle. It's probably pretty clear that I lean conservative, but some of my best friends are die hard liberals. It just makes for more interesting conversation. Lol
  18. http://www.bizpacreview.com/2013/03/10/pew-makes-it-official-republicans-are-smarter-than-democrats-54686 Although Libertarians would probably test better than both. Everything democratic I agree with are social views. But then democrats constantly yell "separation of church and state" and say that these aren't government issues... Ok I agree. So if that's the case then you should vote based of fiscal policy, not social (as social shouldn't be fed issues anyways). That is where I get lost. I get the allure of Democratic social stances. I'm not sure how anyone with a high school education could agree with their fiscal policy however. And boy did this thread go sideways. I need to stay out of it.
  19. I was referring to pharmaceutical sales reps.
  20. When I found out how little the typical Doctor or Lawyer earns my mind was blown. The sheer effort, time, skill, and investment required do not payoff for the vast majority in these fields in my opinion. Yes liberals, I just said I believe most doctors and lawyers are UNDER paid. When the doc I visit for routine checks (who technically should have the most breadth of medical knowledge) earns less than most of the pharmaceutical sales rep that push pills Mon-Fri 9-5... there is a fucking problem.
  21. In the vid he says something along the lines of after seeing this car you will think all these 63-65 vettes should have the fender flares. He was right.
  22. I will go on record saying that with you having a nurse as a wife I can't believe you would feel this way. Antibiotics are already way OVER prescribed. The whole reason infections are becoming harder to treat and the exponential growth of antibiotic resistant bacteria are from people thinking that every little thing needs fixed with an antibiotic. I read somewhere that something like 250,000,000 antibiotic scripts were written last year. Really!??? The worst part is that doesn't even count the idiots that take other people's left over antibiotics without their own script.
