Not sure if that was directed at my "sight unseen" comment... but if so, I definitely don't think 60k is chump change. It's just a different situation. I am in the business of re-selling cars, employ a full time tech who knows how to work on these cars, and have bins full of stock GTR parts. Because of all that, it removes a lot of the risks for me that an individual would have to worry about.

It's the video that just won't die. The same races have been on youtube since FL2K13 (where these took place). This is a re-edited version. If you read the description it makes mention of a small boost leak. The picture of the hole I saw in the charge pipe coupler looked to be the size of a quarter. That car was no where near 1000hp on the run against the MR2.

To be clear, I was just playing devil's advocate. I LOVE the GT-R and definitely think you will be happy with one. I have no idea what kind of money you plan of spending on this purchase, but if it is the kind of money the typical Alpha builds command... I would attempt to find a way to have AMS complete the PPI. If that is not possible, I agree with the plan to have a dealer do one and have someone like IPS do another (including dyno time). Any pics of the car?

It's a highly modified car. While a PPI is a great indicator of current issues, it's not a crystal ball. Recently a high HP GTR was sold that had not one, but TWO PPIs done before the transaction was completed. Within 50 miles, the motor blew. Logs were pulled, and the car was not abused at all in the 50 miles. Just the nature of the beast. On the other hand I know of people with 30k+ miles of abuse at well over 1000whp with zero issues. It's a crap shoot. The factory GTR rods are awful. So awful that stock turbos can bend them with ease if the torque is not kept in check lower in the revs. Why someone would toss a stock rod engine in this car is confusing. Do you plan on building the motor or doing anything? If not, Alpha 9 is not for you. You are sacrificing spool for power that you can not use on stock rods.

The video cuts off the second the GTR let off. That race was was 60-175. Yes... that fast. Both of these cars pull 60-130 in 2.X seconds. There was a bunch of the same comments made so they pulled the logs and it confirmed the race ended at 175. The GTR took off so hard because he was using rolling anti-lag (a feature the UGR cars don't have yet) When the same two cars raced without the GTR using anti-lag, the Lambo got the hit, and they stayed into it until 224mph. The lambo won by a car. I am sure being TX2K week they will have the tie breaker race at some point by weeks end.

Yeh, maybe I should post a more fair race. How about Liter Bikes vs a GT-R, over a fairly long distance. Surely the GT-R will lose that race.... I mean right? Maybe not

I used to work for Circuit City way back in the day, when they still actually owned CarMax. Funny how the spin-off business has flourished and Circuit City is no more. Their business model is smart, as there are definitely people who don't like the typical "haggle" process. You won't get the best possible pricing, but at the same time you won't get raked over the coals. Thanks guys :thumbup:

Shitty to hear Kirk, I've been there. Agreed, there is nothing money can buy to make up for that kind of bullshit. We will all see Kirk at TX2K15 with his freshly built Alpha 20 (2000whp) GT-R and two 23 year old girlfriends (one for each arm)
