Looking at the two receivers, I'd go with the Denon in this case. Has more power and won't likely be as stressed. Will likely run Hot given the setup, which is to be expected. However, Onkyo's do too. You've seen the one I have in our upper level family room and it powers my 7.1 Surround Sound Paradims and dual subs just great but it keeps the room toasty

Okay, understookd, but you run the risk of putting the receiver into a protection mode. If you have a XXX watt amplifier rated for an 8 ohm load, that means it will have a maximum current of say 3.5 amps. If you put a 4 ohm speaker on it then you are still going to be limited to that 3.5 amps which means you can only draw 50% of the XXX watts out of it before it starts to distort. Now, that may be all you need. Nothing wrong with trying it at low volume levels and see what it sounds like. It is not the ideal situation. Check on the back of the speakers if they have binding posts to enable them to be hooked to an 8ohm system. I doubt these do though. All in all, I wouldn't expect them to sound good hooked to those receivers if they are only 4ohms.

Sounds like you have family willing to help. I'd do it. Our family did the same for my mother in law just this December. She had to go through similar feelings about family coming together, but it can be done. Thankfully it sounds like you have some support. Talk it through with them and your wife so expectations on all sides are met. I say that as in our familiy we have one brother in law who fought what we all did.

Yep...ditch that Panasonic set up and add this in and you will thank me later. Come listen to ours anytime Trish. I'm still blown away by them for the money. I've had it cranked to peak volume during movies and music for shits and giggles; it will make you leave the room, your chest will thump from the sub and it won't distort. I drive it with an older Onkyo DS-777 for the kids in a lower level room that's 26' x 18'. http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-htp-3-51-home-theater-package-12-powered-subwoofer--300-696

I know, that's why I posted it. My paperwork shows Warranty consists of 3 years free replacement plus 2 years prorated. If it was 8 at the time and I go screwed then so be it. It's just a battery and if it dies in 3-5yrs, I'm not likely going to claim it under warranty anyway. Would likely just get a new one and be done with it. It only died early as for the last couple years I didn't put a tender on it and it sat more than it drove. Back OT, if you go around feeling entitled to a tip simply for putting it in someone's car, then that's on you. I think someone already pointed out that it's called a Gratuity for a reason. I'm sure many will provide one and I offered, but the guy was pretty stand-up and declined. Sounds like he obeyed the rules and appreciated the offer more than the money itself.

if that were the case I would have said this past March...but I didn't, I said last March aka 2012. Because it needed quoted. Like I said a three year free replacement warranty. The last two years are pro-rated, just as they have been for years. Don't like my wording, then feel free to compare it to their website or the brochure I'll gladly scan that shows such under Features and Benefits; 3-Year free replacement warranty

Feel free to call whoever you know and have them pull the transaction details from their system.

Autozone on Sawmill, store #4527, Duralast Gold Battery for my MS3, last March. Guy installed it in the parking lot in like 5 minutes so that I could get my core charge of $12 back. $87 plus tax. When I asked what I owed him, he refused and said, "dude it took like 5 minutes" Three year free replacement warranty. I see no reason to pay $135-200 for such a thing from a dealer.

Not considering it's an optional service offered that I can choose pay for vs walking around like the world owe you a tip just because. The savings that client is realizing....it's HIS money, not yours.
-
That's a pretty strong sense of entitlement.

Rarely of ever have any issues

I charge by the hour based on the event and I factor my hard/soft costs into my hourly. That means I don't have to "hope" someone is going to tip me, I know my business is profitable. What clients think is fair isn't considered when pricing out events. I set my fees not my clients. Great news is I only do corporate events and am typically booked 3 months out. See, I know what type of "jobs" to take and book because fees are commensurate with the type of clients and work. Corporate Gigs > Family Photos. Even better news is my business is 100% referral only and no tipping is required. In summary, if you're out delivering Pizza's keep realistic expectations and don't expect the average customers to tip you like you're waiting tables at a high end restaurant or working a corporate clientele like a concierge or bell hop at a luxury hotel. Want those gratuity levels, submit your application inside. Or deliver to CR Members where everyone fucks supermodels, drives exotics, tip HUGE and never bitch about money.

I hope they at least let him finish....
-
How is tipping prior to service being received smart? Further goes to incorrectly set expectations for such jobs.
-
But they work just as hard as everyone else don't they.....entry level is entry level right?
-
Shoulda waited tables at Brio
-
Correct. Delivering us a pizza and a salad is worth $2-3. %
-
They need less hoping and better job selection then. No different than tending bar at a high end restaurant to waiting tables at Chili's. Chili's server shouldn't expect to make what they bar tender will make. Both are tipped accordingly. I'm sure the valets at Easton and Servers at Ocean Club behind them understand how it works.
-
both know the role when they accept the job. again, pizza guy wants bellmen tips work environment and responsibility, go get that job. I'm salaried, but make commissions too, yet my counterpart managers in accounting don't.....different jobs completely. I'm not tipping based on what someones compensation plan looks like. Pizza guys are schlepping pizzas in a car, bellmen are usually working in business setting. Again, completely different jobs.

Barber: I pay $20 regardless because the chick that has been cutting my hair is great and always treats me well including a couple rubs on the tig 'ol bitties as she washes my hair. Taxi: Yellow Cabs, pay cash only so they can't fuck with your cc. 15% usually plus $1-2 per bag if they help. Bell Boys: $5 per bag maybe $10 per cart. $2-5 to valet my car.
-
$2-3 which is what my method of tipping is not pitiful shit. It's a tip that is all. I'm not over tipping simply because I chose to use their delivery service. I don't believe in tipping based on the cost of MY ORDER when I'm not being served at a sit down restaurant. Again, if they want those wages go get a waiter job at a sit down place. Pretty simple. In before UPS, FED Ex, US Mail and NAPA delivery drivers go on strike for not being tipped.
-
Cool. Will do.
-
Last I checked, a tip doesn't equal an entitlement. People pay delivery fees for services offered to avoid carryout pickups. but you're willing to put up a bunch of remarks and attitude.....besides, I thought you're manager would just laugh at me? then just make sure people's shit arrives on time and with good quality and I'm sure they won't post a bad review.
