  1. The reverse actually. She's more a shot than I am and when I walked back upstairs she was sporting her S&W ready to go. Would have given her a way to collect on our insurance I suppose . I best not remind her
  2. Fucking wind blew so hard that it must have pressurized the garage enough to pop open the door leading into our mud-room that my wife must not have clicked shut. As a result the alarm system gave me it's high pitched beep warning to hit the code before it wakes up the world. Normally it wouldn't matter, but it was midnight and my ass was sound asleep to prepare for work today. So in order of events. Wind Blows Door pops open Alarm beeps loudly The dogs go into kill the Zombie Mode barking scaring the shit out of us. I wake up with 300 zillions mg's of Adreneline in my blood now Grab gun from night stand, get my barrings and prepare to slay the world downstairs. Fuck, I hate when that happens :fuuuu::fuuuu: Took me an hour to fall back asleep.

The cannibalism in this thread is strong. It's your only saving grace thus far. Be prepared to have Paul drag you around 270 in his new Accord.
  4. In the early 90's GMAC and Pontiac called it a 3 year test drive. One of the best campaigns they did back then. You're exactly right. One of the 4 benefits of leasing is that you can purchase the car. You can sell it outright, trade it or buy it, depending on the terms, anytime, but most freely within the last 6 months. In fact the right car/lease is selected you should always be able to get out early. I've sold all but one of my leases and done well. There's no way you'll walk away or sell and get out even or make much if anything on a buy in as short of a time comparably. Not unless you would have put money down on the buy, and essentially walk away from that cash by selling. Like I said early, what's nice is the flexibility a lease affords you. The small difference in costs in the long run are usually worth it if you're young and life changes quickly. ie....single now, married later, have kids, change jobs or even lose a job, decide to downsize and buy a house or decide to upgrade and buy more. Flexibility that's harder to come by on a purchase.
  5. I have return to work today, but over a beer and a keyboard later, please let's debate this one :gabe:
  6. Leasing is fine so long as you do it right. Don't worry about mileage as there are no restrictions. Leases are structured to account for mileage / depreciation so if you drive more than the typical advertised terms, that's fine, just pay for more miles. Typically they cost less up front than what most would be reimbursed for from a company. Not necessarily applicable to you but I wanted to clarify things a bit as often times people think mileage is a restriction. It's not. True you always have a car payment, but then most people usually do. If one is the type of person who pays cash for a car and drives it forever, then true, likely not for you. However, I paid $24k OTD for my MS3 so while I have no car payment, it's still an expense that can be broken down per month. i've owned it for 30 months thus it's cost me about $800mo. so far. You do the math on any vehicle purchased and see how long it takes to make it worth it. it's not really any different for the average buyer until month 42 give or take a few. (ie. whenever you end up having equity in the car you finance) The average new car buyer just like a house is basically paying interest and depreciation until a certain point regardless. The difference is leases offer far less exposure and risks, so they actually can be better. Especially for a younger person who may have some life changes in a shorter period of time. You paid for the depreciation the banked rolled the dice on so in reality even if you financed it for 36 months, you still wouldn't likely own any of the car. You'd have paid for depreciation and finance charges.

  8. Wife and i are signing our 8.5yr old son and 5.5yr old daughter up for ice skating and I wanted to check here if anyone has skates or what not that they no longer needed? Any tips or thoughts on what we should buy or might need that we may not have been aware of? Insight appreciated.
  9. Not sure how long it's been out, but I would be you can find one at Play it Again Sports. I frequent places like that a lot and pick up some awesome deals.
  10. Funny you mention it because over the holidays I couldn't drink coffee at our family's place because they don't use filtered water. Even our coffee that we brought with us tasted like crap. I've never used a Keurig at home. Only in small businesses that use them where most are hooked to a filter system.

  12. Yes. Part of my post processing and is in line with traditional Infrared Film. I'm partial to B&W and toned images. I'm also a firm believer that grain does have a place in digital photography. Even if it needs to be added intentionally.

  14. BRB....going to rub one out to that Caddy Two other things. 1. Check the settings on your camera and insure the clock is set for am/pm correctly. Yours appears to be 12hrs off. 2. Also on such a beautiful day, try and avoid the sun being so high in the sky. 1am until 3pm in TX provides some pretty harsh lighting. Evening however would be great.
  15. Natural Blue. The only editing was cropping and adding faint cross-stars to the lights. The iris in her eyes are pretty variegated in coloring. Moms are like that too. The speed light used was split, diffused in front and opened in the back left to bounce off the walls behind me, one of which has quite a bit of dark red, thus you're likely seeing a bit of reflection of color from that. Compare the above with my son, who has very similar eyes. This one was shot in a more naturally lit room with very pale yellow walls. I wish I had his eyes. He's 8 1/2 now, and in another 10 years I'm going to be jealous of the girls he's able to bring home that's for sure. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/140458261/original.jpg

  17. There's no one setting for everything. Best to read up. I'll see if I can post a few good links/reads to get you started.
  18. First, excellent weather, cool car and good pics. Congrats on the new weapon. You'll love the learning curve. Here are my random thoughts. First, I think the pics turned out decent for Auto Mode. I don't ever use it, but it worked well for what it is. Read up on some links about Av and Tv modes. I use Av most. The one thing that would really pop for you is the Depth of Field. Auto mode put you at f/11 which is at the limits of that lens and most non L-Lenses and on a crop body puts you close to experiencing diffraction which begins to cause visible softening of digital camera images. On your camera which is a crop body it begins a f/stops above f/8 and becomes more apparent at f/11 and up. Your kits lens goes to f/3.5 which isn't very wide on that camera but opening it up would blur the background a bit more. Key with that lens would be to zoom in all the way, step back to compose the shot and shoot at say f/3.5 to f/4. Try that and then shoot the same composition / scene at f/8 zoomed to match the first and view both side by side and tell me what you think. I like the second shot. Fill the screen with the subject. Nice. Just keep an eye on verticals and keep them straight. Horizons too. The fourth shot is good but if you look at the verticals, the reason it looks a little off and the tops are leaning inwards is due to perspective and lens distortion. On this lens it exhibits some pincushioning. The review in the link below will help you understand the lens a bit better. Both can be fixed in Post Processing quite easily. I like the profile shots of the car too. Again, open that aperture up, step back and zoom in and it will pop a bit more. Look up rule of thirds too. Keep the car in the lower third of the the frame. The next shot is decent too. Shooting cars, keep low. I tend not to bring the camera higher than the wheels or fenders on a lot of shots. Think the height of a 3-4 year old Lastly, the dog is cool. Just also beware of background objects that tend to look like things growing out of heads Overall, well done. I tossed a lot at you, hope it makes sense. Again, the learning curve is 1/2 the fun. 19. You're a huge MOFO for posting such a nice day for us in Ohio on a day like we're having today. I'll check out the pics next but had to post this.
  20. If you want my input on the iPhone feel free to call and discuss. Otherwise your thread will go down in flames between the whole debate. I'm happy to help ya bud. Regardless, I would suggest going to 16gb most strongly. Even my wife who is a low power user of her iPhone comes close to maxing out her 8gb one with pics, songs, vids, games and apps. Especially since the newer ones have nicer cameras and what not. You may initially think "not me" but trust me, once you begin using one, you'll use it more and more. I'm good with a 16gb iPhone and I do power use it.

  22. Open Gum sockets on a 5 yr gross you out yet 99.9% of Linn's vids are viewed multiple times with not much of a thought. What are you a bunch of girls?
  23. Sounds like you got a great deal and honestly, probably saved quite a bit of money too. Get glam shots of the wife with the new car in the background for all to enjoy
