  1. Welcome! Looking forward to seeing some pics of the ride(s)
  2. Styling. The car rides awesome with them. It has a dynamic suspension which really works well. Has a Soft-Standard-Sport mode. I drove one with 20's too.
  3. Thanks. Online now hunting down some brushed aluminum updates to remove the wood trim There were none equipped with that option. Damn old people..... Scheduling up the tint too. I wonder what power mods are out there for the 2.3l :ninja:
  4. Thanks! Color wise, I missed the red metallic on the Fusion Sport I had. Went to get it on the Q50 but black called out to me. Lincoln calls it Ruby Red Metallic and it also entails a Pearl Tinted Clearcoat. Here the wheels really set it off too. That's why it's not here until Tuesday. They only had 1 with the 20's on it and they wouldn't/can't swap them onto another vehicle. Hard to believe so many people are opposed to a modest upgrade $ like wheels when IMO they are what really make a car stand out but he said they are not a common choice.
  5. Switched gears again and landed on this. Much nicer and worth the few extra bucks. Everyone was making deals today. Picking it up Tuesday and under the buffer and coated come Wednesday 2018 Lincoln MK-C Reserve, AWD 2.3l EcoBoost with 20" Wheels: http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167240593/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167240719/original.jpg It's a glorified Ford but with a bit more ooomph given the 2.3l EcoBoost. Scoots quiet well that's for sure. She loves the Pano roof and the way it rides and drives. I wish she went with the larger MK-X/Ford Edge version but she wanted a smaller SUV. Sync 3 has been pretty good and quite intuitive which is big for her. FWIW the Mazda CX-5 was by far the 2nd choice. They bent over backwards on it too coming in nearly $150mo cheaper vs the Lincoln. A Fantastic deal on it's own and the car is certainly one of the best of the ones in it's class. Drives with plenty of power for a NA 4Cyl. too. Nearly identical to many of the other turbo ones but overall felt more peppy and solid. Quiet too. No buzz. I think it's officialy though, my wife turns 50 this year so here comes AARP and Lincoln

Sure, tell me this the day before we pick up my wife's new 1.6l Turbo Haha! Well, we're 95% there. Should be up there in the morning.

$1,500 is nothing. Seriously. The Audi board is loaded with $3k, $5k and some with full $14k repairs and failures of transmission and differentials, etc. with plenty of issues starting at 40k miles. Germans... Loved mine but I got rid of it for a reason and it wasn't just the $1k I had to put into it to fix things with less than 30k miles.
  8. People must have had bad experiences with pavers not laid correctly. When done correctly they won't hieve or break loose and last for a long time. You may have to sweep in more sand over time but that's about it. One of the downsides poured and stained concrete is cracks and damage aren't as easy to repair. 9. If you go German make sure you have it scanned to see if it's been tuned or not. The guy who bought my car had no idea LOL. He said the same thing about it pulling like a train. It could also have a basic piggy back unit from Burger motorsports on it too as they a very prevalent in BMW land. It could have a piggyback on it you might not even see it. The one on my car now is nearly invisible if you're not looking for it. Sent from my Galaxy Note 8 using Tapatalk
  10. Scott at Altered Scapes in Powell area. He and his crew did an awesome job in our 420 square foot paver patio. I highly recommend him pricing was competitive and work was outstanding. You're welcome to come see it anytime Scott (614) 370.6208 call Feel free to let him know Tim Lauro sent you his way. Fencing wise I highly recommend these guys. Henry Francis Gaurdian Fence Company Work (614) 475-1322 They did our fence nearly 20 years ago and just added on to it this year both times doing an outstanding job. Not the cheapest but certainly top-notch work and they use quality materials as our fence looks brand-new even today In terms of interior exterior painting I highly recommend John. He and his crew did the ceilings of our remodeled home banister and painted the exterior completely. Again not the cheapest game in town, but excellent service and his team works extremely hard finishing up our project in record time. They are very detail-oriented and I am extremely picky. Again excellent work John Haas Haas Painting Mobile +1 614-597-5191
  11. Looking forward to what you think of the interior, especially the gauges.
  12. They are mine for the day. that's how I roll Sent from my Galaxy Note 8 using Tapatalk
  13. So after detailing a fellow RS400 owners car having the exact same exhaust as me, I thought what the H3ll, let's wake up the Mrs. by starting them both at the same time https://youtu.be/YoFiLVcJF8g?t=16s
  14. Added few more pics for those that like the color and want to see what it looks like in the sun: http://www.pbase.com/image/167213106/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167213105/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167213104/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167213107/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167213109/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167213108/original.jpg
  15. Agree on the summer wheels. Wrap with some Pilots, they are really going to set off the look of the car. I'm definitely not a fan of the winter set up though. Something about the color and matt finish on this blue. I would have stayed with 19" too. It's AWD so a little extra foot print isn't going to matter and the cost....pfftt....at this point it's moot. Heck, just use the stock wheels vs buying another set. Opinions, we all have them right
  16. So a fellow Q50 forum member that bought his Red Sport 400 the same week I did mine finally brought his over to get detailed and coated. Along with the car that has his winter wheels and tires on it, he brought over his new summer wheels that are awaiting the Pilot Super Sport 4s's and some warm weather. He had it through a few tunnel washes which did most of the damage to the front and rear clips but did swirl up the entire car lightly. We decided the best long-term option was to ceramic coat the summer wheels and proceed with Option 2: Premium Enhancement With this he also upgraded to include 2 coats of an SiO2 based ceramic coating on both the paint and all the windows. I love how dark metallic colors really POP! and darken up increasing their depth when coated. Weather today isn't great for pics so here are some preliminarily ones for now. I'll be dynomatting and soundproofing the trunk as I did mine to remove a slight low-tone noise from the exhaust upgrade. After that I hope the sun will be out for some better daytime shots. http://www.pbase.com/image/167206682/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167206683/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167206681/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167206684/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167206679/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167206680/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167206722/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167206678/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167206677/original.jpg
  17. they need to be marching outside the sheriff's office more than anything given all the balls dropped on the Florida shooting.
  18. I've never said it wasn't a multifaceted problem. I just don't think the current state of regulations is the root-cause, nor is the root-cause a gun in general. It seems apparent that you don't see the root-cause as the person behind the gun and to the level you do agree they have a role in it, you deflect their blame to other things such as social situations, the economy, etc. I would agree that we won't probably ever see eye to eye the factors involved and to what degree they are responsible for a death by gun. I've never said I'm against regulation. I just don't support a regulation that infringes on rights as much as you're willing to do nor infringe on honest responsible gun owners when the problem has nothing to do with them. I want regulation and laws focused where it needs to be focused, not ones that impact the 99.9% of us that are not harming anyone with our guns. I think but could be wrong that we disagree on what we see as sensible. I'm not opposed to spending money, but it needs to be with clear purpose and a clear plan not a fishing expedition in hopes of finding something under a rock.
  19. agree 100%. the games and banter are entertaining but let's call it for what it is those that want a ban and those that don't. If Kerry is looking for something in the middle, and I believe him, then he and I are closer than he thinks. the media and the elites on the left however, have been of late, really pushing for an out-right ban though and it's clear to many of us. IMO not just around guns, but power in general, is why they are pushing so hard for immigration as I do absolutely believe they are out to change the population and demographics in order to regain control. the statement about personal responsiblity doesn't fit the narrative of people calling for gun regulation. that's even more clear to many. Kerry can hate on that all he wants as he deflects and tries to shift blame but he has already noted before including here in this thread around alcohol that many of the gains we've see are as a result of social attitudes and community programs....aka NOT guns and NOT Alcohol. Those two items are harmless when by themselves or in the hands of a RESPONSIBLE person. It's time to address the real problem which with the people.
  20. markets respond like this over lots of things. I've learned to take it with a grain of salt anymore.
  21. gotcha. agree that there's more than one factor but it just bugs the shit out of me that the entire issue and things like this start with stupid people. I am curious though as to how the system on these vehicles work. I haven't read up on them much nor even know what's out there on their workings.
  22. where? I've done doors off tours in Hawaii and Oregon recently. agree...but it wouldn't hurt for people like this lady to fucking wake up and pay attention and be a bit more responsible when entering a road way. again, sad story, but to me her stupidity lead to her death. jay walking at night in a non crossing area and not even fucking looking up to see if there were headlights coming at her. squirrels are smarter than her as at least they run the fuck out of the way.
  23. global free trade may lead to lower prices but why should it be that it means other countries get to fuck us in the ass? what is keeping us from being taken advantage of and be more of a win-win vs us constantly getting bent over? costs may go up but IMO it's worth it to not be victims and at the mercy of other countries all the time. we shouldn't be entering into agreements unless they are fair for both or all sides. If I'm hearing him correctly, POTUS is asking for it to be in our best interest or at least not a fuck-stick in the corn hole.
  24. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, about 88,000 people die from alcohol-related causes each year, making alcohol the fourth-leading preventable cause of death in America. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence reports less than 33,000 people die each year from gun violence, and of those, nearly 20,000 are suicides. By comparison, guns are far less dangerous. That means alcohol is more than 2x as deadly as guns in the United States and by far hundreds of times more deadly if suicides are excluded from the comparison. Shouldn't congress be pushing for background checks for alcohol purchases and register everyone into a database to monitor addictions, driving records and limit their availability to it if warranted? What’s wrong with having that kind of meaningful change in the drug and alcohol space? It's likely because as I've noted about guns, most people recognize the dangers associated with alcohol our freedoms are valued more and shouldn't be infringed upon that much by our gov't. The cost of freedom is worth something whether it's 15k murders per year or 10k DUI deaths per year. or is it because the main goal of those in power is to reduce our freedoms when it comes to guns?
  25. you still win on the other points noted and you embrace them. actually, I've noted before that we can improve. I just don't condone sacrificing our rights or freedoms by infringing on the hundreds of millions of responsible members of society in order to target a few dozen. I think you've made it clear that you don't think what we're doing today is effective but continue to duck behind your purposefully left ambiguity of wanting to spend more in hopes of finding something you won't clearly define. I don't need to spend money to know that the policies we have in place or would put in place will never be any more effective when the policy isn't what is going to stop the person. Keep looking to spend money on gun studies and let us know when you're ready to address the real problem. Until then, no, I don't want to piss away more money on dumb attempts to address the wrong thing. perhaps those asking for the money need to better define what they are in hopes of using it for. thus far I've yet to see anyone actually inform us on what data is missing and what it is they are going to apply the data to find out more about. Again, specifics, not social science blabber. what's there to look at Kerry? again, any details? the fact that you note that it may not be gun laws nudges you closer to the truth. gun laws aren't what is needed to stop or even reduce mass shootings. not unless you plan on banning all guns. you can ban bump stops, make the age to buy 21, increase background check requirements, etc, but none of those things will impact the person and their motive nor magically stop them or change their mind. again, come to the table with specifics and perhaps those with the purse strings will see value in it. if you support the cause then put up your opinion if you were in their shoes. you're a smart research oriented guy. what's missing from the data we already have. what specifically do you need around suicide, murder, gang on gang crime, crime in chicago or small town USA. I hear you, you want to spend money....I do do it every day....but when I do I know exactly what I'm looking to buy; you're stating you don't and that you want to buy it all....but you can't so what exactly do you want? if you're rebuilding a car you know the list of parts you need you don't go in and buy everything in the parts store just to make an informed decision. we don't need to spend money studying background checks. we know where the holes in this leaky bucket are at and we know how not all the water will stay in it (ie...criminals won't use them). Spend the money more wisely patching up the top 2-3 holes we already know are big. As with any problem you have a starting point, you define success and then you measure along the way as you implement and improve what exactly within community enforcement are you looking to find/study? come on, you have to have details if you have a thought on the matter. blah, blah.....I have doors on my house, they seem fine but I need to conduct a study on how drafty they may be. and even though I can't define what I see as a successful solution to the problem I may or may not have, I do know I want to spend money to find something....OMG, the circular wasteful logic in that is why our gov't is so fucked up conducting studies on the impact of noise created by traffic on the life cycle of houseflies. so we don't have enough data to even determine if such a study would bring value? Dude, I think we have plenty of data on scary guns and we've been through this ban on them already. many of our our fucking decision makers on the hill have never even held a scary gun let alone know dick about them. I vote we spend money on getting every single one of them 1-2 years intensive training on firearms so they can engage in a conversation on them let alone spend money on studying them or making laws that impact our constitutional rights. the problem of suicide is far more a mental health and non-gun related problem. the gun is just a tool used by these people. remove the gun and work on the suicide problem and save a shit ton of time and money. little johnny didn't kill himself because he happen to find daddy's gun. Just the same we don't need to waste money to know depressed people who are likely on medication are at a greater risk of off'ing themselves if a gun is in the picture. Case solved by separating them from guns and focusing on them not guns. we already know the root cause....a bad person picks up a weapon and does bad things with it. the weapon by itself/alone or in the hands of a good person does no harm, thus the bad person is the root cause. time to focus on the root cause....the bad person. I love data. I'm surrounded by large amounts of it. I use it to solve problems. I have a background in engineering and design using said data to find solutions. There's no blind devotion. It's a crystal clear devotion to not fucking with our rights where a real solution is fairly clear. I've never used the phrase one more inch. You're back to making some broad assumptions again. I'm fine for spending money so long as it's with purpose...clear purpose. They are more than empowered with data. I too don't expect them to be twiddling their thumbs. I do however expect they come to the table with clarity on things when it comes to spending money. to fix the head and heart problem, people need to separate emotion from law making and we as a society need to eject lawmakers who are drama lama fuck ups that actually do anything for a living but collect a paycheck. next we need to actually focus on what we know the root cause of things to be and solve for the problems that we can clearly identify and articulate what a successful solution is and how it is achieved. glad to hear your first two points. the one in the middle isn't bullshit conjecture. smart decisions don't require tons of money and they certainly don't involve all the bullshit that our law makers are putting out there. want to spend money, let's spend it on replacing the real cause of our issues and that is law makers who play games. I think I'm safe in stating you would agree with that last point.
