I don't believe any of them share a history like ours where we fought for their country like we did. I also don't believe they included any type of 2A for their people. In all honesty, the 2A is important to me and I won't trade it for the lives lost here or in the next shooting. Way too many millions before them also died for all the things that our constitution stands for to just give it away or let people too lazy to fix the real problem chip away at my rights. Anyone calling for a repeal of the 2A or for severe infringement should move to the UK or elsewhere.

I'm not against arming teachers but IMO just add a few armed police or private security team to the mix. Staffing is important and expensive, but the schools budgets are fucked up and due for an overhaul as it is. I'm tired of hearing the statment that gun people value guns more than kids, so let's flip it on them and see if they value kids lives more than money or the effort to save some elsewhere to put it here. We don't need as many State Troopers as I see on I-71 as we have generating money off the backs of working people. I think the sheriffs and local PD's can cover my ass speeding just fine. My opinion is based on the fact that most shooters seem to die or care little if they do. I think that's a fair statement so let that be done by a pro. My son's school in Dublin has 4 uniformed cops. They don't walk around with long guns but I was surprised to see one is a K9 unit and the at lease another I saw was clearly armed with multiple hand guns and enough magazines to go to battle. I think the visible presence is more than intimidating. My son is fine and even he said the bad-kids in school don't fuck around with other kids as the cops are on scene too fast and mean business. Their vehicles are right out front and one out back too. Let a pro do their job as its worth the money. I'm not saying not to CHL Holders in the classroom but I do strongly feel we can come up with budget to do this. This is a great example of why we need to focus on AMERICANS FIRST and stop fucking around providing shelter, benefits and resources on those that should not be here. If someone over stays their visa or walks in then kick them the fuck out immediately and don't waste money on the issue. We as a country need to see funding related to that bullshit is instead spent on our needs.
-
Yes but we really don't have a need as my daughters school has two full time cops and the high school has 3-4 at any given time, one is a K9 unit that is there often too. They were all there today as they were supposed to have a student "walk out" at lunch. My son said the high school had maybe 4 kids walk out at lunch. Most of the others, including him, were inside discussing "the other side" which supports guns.

I'm for banning stupid not gun or to infringe on the smart. Bump stocks are stupid. Same with burnouts. Not acting on a series of events is stupid. We have the capability to identify a trouble making student. Add to that if they have been suspended or expelled for violence, we have the ability to add 1+1. Add to it that he has had several visits by police for various things now we're up to 1+1+1, etc..... Until we start acting on what's right in front of us it's going to bring more harm to lawful gun owners like me and many here. I have an AR, several other rifles, handguns, and large magazines, etc. I however don't have any of the above issues thus I have no reason to be seen as a threat. This dude did. Others can feel free to push back.
-
They have that right but when people are disruptive to society and proving themselves to be violent in such a way that they are booted from school, etc. then they can lose their right to own a gun. We can further define for how long. IMO there are a lot of cases where we need to restrict knuckleheads of the world from being allowed to participate as if they aren't knuckleheads. Let's be real here, he was booted from school for specific types of behavior that we can clearly define. The above is an example of something that perhaps wouldn't preclude one from owning a gun. You're smart and you know what I mean. Just note your sarcasm if I'm missing it.
-
Yes. If someone is a threat enough to get kicked out of school for violence and/or have a disruptive enough of a life to have law enforcement show up as many times as this turd did then I support keeping them from having a firearm. Just because someone can go serve over seas doesn't give them a hall-pass to carry or buy a gun and walk among free society. There's more to it than just our willingness to put them in the military where their behaviors are far far more regulated and disciplined than in society here state-side. If he goes on to serve and come back from deployment without issue, perhaps with a record of "improvement" then that service will go on record and thus work in favor. We deny people the right to their 2nd amendment if they commit a felony because they are a threat to society so why not do the same here? It wouldn't be on the say-so of anyone it would be based on the fact that their own actions got them booted from school due to violence. That's on the person not the educators. If they want due-process, that's simple, put a process in place if they wish to debate the matter. Details of such can be worked out pretty easily.

what's this self policing you're speaking about? I see tens of millions of guns in the marketplace and in the hands of tens of millions of people and a few guns in the hands of a few bad people each year causing issues. what is is as a resposnible gun owner you want me or others to do? the situation in florida has about as many red flags raised and pictures drawn pointing to this kid and yet no one in law enforcement connected the dots. IMO one of the background check updates that needs to occur is to have school records for say the past xx number of years (most applicable to buyers under say age 24, be included. I mean if he legitimally qualified to a buy a gun that's one thing, but had he been flagged for having been expelled from school for violence perhaps that flag could be used to decline him. Add to that you have a young man who has a history like him of trouble....I mean how many times were the police called to his location for various reasons? Again, to me that's a red flag that perhaps should be noted in a background check.
-
Bump Stocks are stupid and IMO honestly don't have a place in the real-world of responsible gun ownership. To me their are equivalent of standing on the brakes of a daily driver Charger RT and doing a smokey burnout on OEM Tires in a parking lot at a cars and coffee event. YMMV.

It shows them the last straw that the person they expect to snap due to their behaviors is at the end of their ropes in terms of tolerating and attempting to correct their behavior. A simply slap across the face is sometimes all it takes. I remember it happening to me at age 12-13 when was a smart ass to my father. The first slap was like a wake up call. It hurt and I was stunned and it happened in front of my entire family. He followed it up with another 3 seconds later and a very firm don't warning to never ever take that posture with him again as the one meaningful and loving rock in my life was about to off the deep end. I was embarrassed to all get out, I was scared that he would hit me again and there was little I could do except change my behavior, and more than anything I was disappointed in myself for pushing him to the edge because I knew that was not how he normally reacted. I deserved it and as much as I may have yelled that I hated him at that point it was all a hate and anger at myself. I never caused him to react that way again. The key to any discipline or even action is that you as the aggressor will never get the other person to change behavior, they have to want to overcome that bad behavior and sometimes a good shot over the bow wakes people up. both my kids have been there. Once with my daughter and my son has had it happen twice, both delivered by his mom even though I'm more apt to be the heavy. You might say it's fear and to a certain extent it is. The other part of it is respect. My son is 145lbs and growing into a young man but he knows no one on earth has done more for him or cares more about him that mom and dad and never will. Pushing either or both of us to such an extreme limit puts him in a world all alone and he wants no part of that because that would be scary as hell and we all know that such a feeling can be terrifying. His fear is self imposed and from his own doing and he knows that too. Neither of kids have ever come close to pushing either of us that far again. If anyone here has been bitten by their family dog as a kid for teasing them or doing something that pushes them to the edge, they know it's similar to that. Family pets, especially small dogs, are about as loving and loyal as can be. They respect a pack mentality and as a kid you are often seen as a peer not an alpha. They will love you all day long but if you push them they will bite and put you back in place. Hate them all you want for it, you likely deserved to get bit and so long as you don't cross that line with them they will go right back to loving you just as before. Kids just the same have to realize they aren't the alpha in the house or the parent. If they treat you with respect they get respect but when they lash out, a good smack is warranted and sometime all it takes. YMMV.

Unless you tried to hide in your carry one bag, you'd be fine. The above is much better alternative than the masses trying to prevent you from buying said gun in the first place.

Stats show we are less violent than days past and overall we aren't that violent. No need to give up any freedoms. Sent from my Galaxy Note 8 using Tapatalk

Hydrophobic properties only really work when there is airflow present to move the water off. It's a design thing. Best practice I have had over the years used to wipe off the cameras as I leave my vehicle and or approach it getting back in Sent from my Galaxy Note 8 using Tapatalk

So a friend of mine picked up a 2006 Impala LT as a new daily to replace his Trailblazer that blew a head gasket. He couldn't afford much but it's a solid car in decent shape. Has had a full repaint and it's not awesome but it will clean up nice enough. I spent a few hours showing him the ropes as he wants to do it himself. Gave him a few extra products in terms of Compound, polish and sealants and an older PC74xx buffer that will get him going. To start off I showed him how to polish the scratches out of windshield and then we proceeded to coat and seal it up so now he won't have to worry about using rain-x or other products like that. It's slick as can be and hydrophobic enough that he won't need his wipers much at all now. Part of the clean and teaching involved his headlights. They were both bad but not horrible. Little wet sanding to remove the oxidation and some polishing to bring them back as best we could given they are crazed and a little hazy inside still. way better than they were for sure. Finished them up by sealing them up with two coats to help curb any return of the fading. If you need headlights corrected, drop me a note. I can fix pretty much any condition while you wait on it. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167026427/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/167026426/original.jpg

Keurig Cars and Coffee? Mobile Coffee and Cars? On a serious note Clay, are there any mobile food trucks you know that would do breakfast at the event? Would Casto allow it?

I agree with the likes of big tech companies like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, combined with the NSA/FBI, etc. that social media needs monitored automatically keeping score of things. It's not that people with just one or two indicators need flagged, but the reality is Facebook has the capability to know what kind of day I'm having, Google knows what products and topics searching for, Instagram and Apple know what pics I'm taking and posting,, my credit card companies know what I'm buying, my phone will tell you where I'm at, my health records will tell you what drugs I'm on, etc.... yeah, it's big brother to the max, but hey, we already have it in place right? So the reality is just connect the dots. This kid in Florida is a classic full boat of red flags that should have been noticed and followed with more seriousness than even the flags that were already raised and seemingly ignored. There's no need to target the gun/device, the root-cause is what needs targeted and I'm confident we can target pretty damn accurately if the data points already known are connected.

I absolutely agree and think that it has flip that switch. People doing these shootings are simply going to the next level after being keyboard Warriors. I look at my own son and daughter as they have grown up on social media with phones, etc. and I can see a difference in them vs how my wife and I grew up. I'm not saying everyone arguing on the internet will take it to the next level but the reality just look at The Kitchen here. I think we've seen a fair number of call-outs about meeting and saying shit to someones face right? Good luck with that as one never knows who is carrying and will snap. That's here among friends too. Can you imagine if someone got booted then showed up at CC&C and when off with a gun? It's not stupid to think that anymore. Welcome to 2018. dont' tell Kerry as the moral decline in this country is just a big lie....he'll likely disagree all day long with the above you mentioned but hey, none that has anything to do with what we're seeing right? In my high school in Cleveland, Benedictine, if you smarted off to the teachers or coaches they would slap the shit out of you and tell your parents about it and then put you in detention. It worked too as even the smart ass kids learned their parents applauded the slapping and it never repeated itself. The joke at lunch was who got their ass smacked by a 70yr old priest. Even better was the football players as we worked out would have their parents come in a slap the shit out of them in front of all of us too. Yeah....the good old days. winner winner chicken dinner.

Jimmy is a fuck stick who like Seth Myers uses his show for political posturing and finger pointing vs comedy. He's a pot calling the kettle black too. How about he use his influence in fantasy star land to influence his millionaire buddies to stop making ghetto lyric music, movies and shows that glorify kiling and video games that do all of that. If he does that maybe he'd have even a small basis to say what he does, but until the he needs to stuff a dick in that pie hole of his and suck it.

FWIW the situation isn't doom and gloom. I'll be interested in seeing the updated stats through 2016/2017. https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/fv9311.pdf

Guess I'm a turd for being the only one here who can't fix the world. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm good with that and you shouldn't be disappointed as you've never given anyone here credit for a good idea ever as your bar for everyone else but yourself is on the floor. In return, you always have answers and are more than willing to tell others about them. FWIW, I'm sure you're a good parent too Kerry. Feel free to be proud. You've spouted off about your morality and pride of intelligence on far worse subjects than your kids. Many of us are still waiting for it to be on a car though. Freedom isn't free and children have been dying across the planet for far longer than you and I have been alive in the hopes of having what we have here in the US. Even with our flaws, we are a destination for many. Not sure what research you're looking for but it doesn't take much to figure out the root-cause isn't a firearm. marriages in the use are what 6.9 per 1,000 total population? with a corresponding divorce rate: of 3.2 per 1,000 population. declining or not, my wife had a hell of a family law practice for many years. It's sad in a way to see my kids have friends over, many of whom only have one parent or in many cases four. teen pregnancies may be dropping but do you associate morality with fertility or safe sex practices or perhaps the act of teens fucking in the first place? YMMV but I don't think you're going to be a proud papa if your 14 year old daughter is fucking and using a condom or blowing a dude in your basement vs having the moral courage and common sense to not fuck at at all because she had a good upbringing. Who knows, maybe you don't care. But hey, if she gets knocked up, maybe you'll be good with getting her an abortion. In fact go get it done at planned parenthood and support the cause and show your kids first-hand the righteous way to live. They can treat herpes of the mouth too so she'll be fine either way. I agree. I don't know if you give a crap about the Jewish faith so I can't comment. I grew up Catholic and while I'm not an avid practitioner, I do believe there's a moral value that my family and my wife and I instill in our kids that has helped prepare them and provide them some guidance as they go through life. YMMV. Good luck to your and yours just the same. In the mean time you can keep telling yourself all the give-a-fuck meters in today's world aren't at all related to any type of faith or upbringing and are mainly because so many of us lack a liberal view or our social programs just aren't enough.
-
Serious question. What type of research or studies are you looking for? Have you watched any of the liberal news stations today? 100% of them today and after every shooting tout disarming the population. I had my fill of them today shaking my head in disbelief of those fools who think that's the solution. what's our current legislation around felons and guns now? I'm fine with making it more difficult for someone on mental meds to buy a gun. That said, I'm more for medical studies and regulations around our doctors writing scripts as much as they do. There's no reason so many in our society should be on mental meds. people think taking pills is the answer is about as dumb as those that thing removing the gun is the answer. The diet and weight loss industry is a shining example and the mental health field just followed their lead. It's all about making money. You know that. We need to stop the madness and start actually holding people accountable and people themselves need to be more responsible. How many of these whack jobs have shitty lives in general and that starts at home when they are young. Parents need to start parenting and that's one area of the family unit that has greatly diminished over the past 30 years.

I am generally a very happy guy living the dream like most of us here. I hope you are too. The reality is more people are killed every year by drunk drivers but I'm not going around touting prohibition or melting down cars and trucks. Subtract all the suicides and rats killing rats in gangs and drug deals, etc. and the real number of true "innocent" victims like you or me is much smaller than the total 32k-36k killed by a gun every year. Most are suicides and the vast majority the remaining are just thugs and trash. In the end, this isn't a gun-issue, it's a "why are kids/people like this doing these things" issue. Until society addresses the root cause, the issue will remain. IMO all of these mass shooting fuck-sticks are not people that we want walking in society with or without a firearm. I mean the reality is this kid is mental and just removing his gun doesn't fix that or limit his tendencies to do harm. I think the issue has been slow brewing for decades. Lack of faith and general decline of morality in society, breakdown of the family unit, huge drop in socialization among many - general human interaction and interpersonal skills, increase willingness for society to accept all of those things, kids today and even a decade ago are conditioned differently that say me at age 48 and when I was growing up. I got in plenty of fights but I never even remotely thought of taking my dads gun - and I knew right were it was, and using it. Never. Some will disagree but I was also not playing first person shooter or reality games like grand theft auto from age 8-15 where it was drilled into my head I could pick up a hooker beater her and toss her out of a car while running over her pimp to score points. I don't have the solution but I do firmly believe the more we focus on guns as the root of it all the more injustice we're doing ourselves. I have a safe full of guns that have never been pointed at anyone let alone fired themselves. My kids are in a stable home, have a strong sense of family, parents that have been married for over 25yrs, are raised with morals and faith and don't participate in dumb ass games. Proud papa to very social and engaging kids which IMO is hugely a key to success in life.
