  1. 3rd in class (last), 9th FTD, 72nd PAX - coned my best run and couldn't back it up - too much overdriving of the course, but it was fun!
  2. Triple Post!!! Just because I wanted to do it once - but I don't know why.
  3. On another note - anyone interested in a CR PAX Challenge? I can put up a list on the kart trailer at the events - sign up with your name/car and class - after the event, we'll go to the PAX listing and post up the results. Bragging rights will be at stake. For those of you not familiar with the PAX index, it's a factoring system based on results from national and pro events. In theory, if everyone drove an optimum time in their class, by multiplying by the PAX factor all times should be equal. It's far from perfect, but it's th ebest anyone has come up with.
  4. "A singing tire is a happy tire" translated - a little noise is good - screaching and howling, not so much. Andy Bell gave ma a father's day present and drove anther kart - I squandered an opportunity to make up points and overdrove - then coned on my best run - a 42.0 - then couldn;t get my shit together and improve !
  5. Did the Michigan trip a couple of summers back. Frankenmuth has the "worlds largest Christmas store" - what kid doesn't like Christmas? We went from there up the east coast and checked out several of the lighthouses and then on to Mackinac. The old fort right at the base of the bridge is neat. Went on down to Traverse City and on to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park - very cool! The best thing about it was the moderate temperatures even in August. My kids are a good bit older and we went in a motor home so we camped our way around. The water was crytal clear (it pains me to say it - but much better than lake Erie) and the beaches were nice. If I had to pick one area - it would be Traverse City / Sleeping Bear Dunes - great natural scenery, beaches, wineries, lighthouses - a little bit of everything. By the way - there's a Cabellas store on the way north - the kids would probably like the "real" stuffed animals and aquariums!
  6. I'll have to have the wife check the "archives". I too had a couple of websites with information/photos - but they're gone now as well.
  7. Nelson Ledges is a neat track - I had the opportunity to drive the 24 hr race there 4 times in the late 80's (2nd in class/4th Overall in a 300ZX in '88!). It is a fast track that is fairly easy on brakes. Tire walls around the track with good runnoff areas in most places. The Carousel turn in the scariest place to go off due to the banking and short runoff to the swamp. The folks with good handling cars and strong wills can get through the kink on the backstraight flat out - but its will make you pucker every time! I do't really have anythign to drive up there now - need to fix that and revisit an old favorite!
  8. Yes, they do check drivers licences. To preregister go here: http://www.dlbracing.com/default.aspx? Create an account and you can register online. Second option is to be at the event at 7:00 and be one of the first 30 walk ins. They do strictly limit that number as all walk ins have to be hand posted into the system. Class information can be found at: http://www.scca.org/contentpage.aspx?content=61 along with rules, etc., etc.
  9. First timer - 18 of 18 - I suddenly feel old...
  10. TRUE! The ground affects on those cars was huge! I believe it was the first event - they welded all night. Corner worker friends of mine heard more than one "rattle" in its opening the first day of practice - it only got pulled up a "little".
  11. http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=4 What a bargain - you'll never go faster cheaper!!!
  12. But, I DID enjoy that (even without the violins) so I must be at least bi!
  13. Wait - I'm having a senior moment, does violin techno make you gay? Give you cooties? Both? Neither?
  14. God hates cooties - it's in the bible - look it up!
  15. Based on your logic, does this mean by your insinuation that I am a closet homosexual, you too must be "A", "B", or "C"? Please let me know which would apply - I'm afraid I'm all out of omnipotence today.
  16. Wow, I didn't know there was such an active gay community on CR - I guess CR DOES condone GAY street racing! I have been fascinated by your knowledge of gay activities and gay art that you can call on at a moments notice. You all can return to your private sword fight, I think I will decline your offers to join in. I really should know better than to join into kids' little spats. BTW - Catholic yes, priest, no - I only mentioned God in the context of He may be the only one to save you from me if you hit/injure/kill someone in my family while your playing boy racer on the street - and doing whatever other gay things you do in your car - both hands on the wheel please!
  17. I thought I'd get this one up first - only 17 registered as of this evening. Back to OSU for Father's Day. I'll be back from vacation with a fresh alignment on the kart - hunting FTD (for my codriver anyway!).
  18. Columbus Racing does not condone illegal street racing.:bs: Apparently, Pat speeks more of the truth than most of you. And yes, I know Pat - and have since the day he was born. Yes, I know about the Columbus street racing scene since before most of you were born. It was done in parking lots with near Pro Stock prepared cars - and we didn't endanger innocent drivers - if someone screwed up, any harm was limited to them. If all of you having a "meet" haven't learned anything from the recent tragedy and the backlash - the "kills" forum is gone(?) - all I can say is God help you if any of you winds up hitting/injuring anyone I know. What a bunch of selfish asses! As to Pat - if any of you were man enough to have actually lived the past 5 years in is shoes, you would all STFU!
  19. I still have some old programs, no postable map, but the course went south from Broad in front of what is now COSI, Left over the Town St bridge, left on Marconi(?-street name) back to Broad then right (east) and left (north) on Front to Spring. Left on Spring (west) out and under the railroad bridge, then made a 180 degree turn out about Neil. The course then came back in to Marconi and turned right on Broad. The pit area was on Broad street in front of Vet's Memorial - it also featured a 180 degree turn at the west end (about the entrance to Vet's). The first year workers met up at the old Ohio Penitentiary on Spring - they actually held the worker party there. Mayor Buck Reinhart was a big supporter. Some photos of the race can be found about midway down this page: http://www.pbase.com/mwphoto Some great memories of working that race over the years. In fact my wife designed the program cover one year.
  20. Possibly fuel pump (check fuel pressure when running) - vacuum leak, hence won't pull fuel (pulling air in through leak and not creating vacuum through carbs at cranking speed)? With the carbs off did any lines get left off by chance?
  21. ALWAYS! (but sometime my accuracy sucks!)
  22. I'll just apologize now.... Got the kart running last night - will be there Sunday - hence it will rain. I say this because it rained the first event. It rained the second event as our heat started. The kart was broken last event and it was nice. And here we are today! Of course I did run well in the rain....so I'll say it - Sorry!
  23. I have not checked the auditors site to confirm, but rumors at the autox event this weekend revolved around the Schottenstein family also owning some adjacent property(ies?) to the west that would be used in the development. If you look at the proposed drawings, as big as Cooper is, it would be tough to get a 1/2 mile oval, drag strip, kart track and any parking all on that plot.
  24. We used to use a 50/50 mix of ATF & 85/140 gear lube in 240Z transmissions that we raced in 24 hr enduros - never had any problems with durability. I have also used the Redline Lightweigh Shockproof lube (straight) in my formula ford Hewland transaxle, it is also the preferred lube for the 125cc shifter kart gearboxes (both have straight cut gears and no synchros). I do not know what it is about some of these "hybrid" blends - nor why the engineers don't come up with them. I'm sure there's a interesting discussion to be had with them on what all attributes from the various ingredients are doing with each other - both positive and negative.
  25. Last year Craig didn't teach - they almost had too many instructors. I will be there in my "official" set up/tear down capacity - as well as to teach, if needed. If not - I may be at home trying to finish up kart rebuild/repair for Sunday (assuming parts all get here in time).
