  1. 3' tall, deaf, mute, no teeth with a flat head so I can rest my beer (to be exact)
  2. Link to SCCA rules files: http://www.scca.org/contentpage.aspx?content=61 As a recovering Fiero owner - NO - SCCA has screwed this car in every class it's in, it is not competitive, period.
  3. All you need to do to "guarantee" a spot at the SCCA events is preregister at DLB Racing (.com) - member or not - you can preregister and pay up till 6:00 pm Thursday prior to the event. Yes, they do limit "walk-ins" to 30 for each event as those have to be manually keyed into the computer by class. Don't worry about being a novice at the SCCA events, Ben can probably comment more accurately, but it sems to be we had at least one or two "first timers" at almost every event - more at the ones ealry in the year. Everybody had a "first event" they had to do!!!
  4. Rumor at the SCCA chiefs meeting was an OSU group (OSU Sports Car Club?) was putting together an autocross series. No one has seen any "official" information, but it was given as one of the reasons we couldn't use the OSU lots on some weekends. If it is a new series, and perhaps will be "underattended", we may be able to work a deal with them. Of course this is all based on whether or not it happens, if the rumor is true, and anyone can find them. If anyone has heard anything about this - please pass it on.
  5. Need a cheap pair of matched tires for a tow dolley. Could also use: 185/80R-14 175/80R-14 185/70's are a bit too wide 195/75's are a bit too big as well Anybody got a couple taking up space?
  6. I think I still have an original '69 Camaro drivers side mirror I pulled of some (a lot) years ago. If that will work PM me - I'll see if I can still find it.
  7. I've got a set of Trans Am aluminum "turbo" wheels (15x8) - used on the 1979-1980 cars - $100 for the set would get them out of my garage.
  8. One thing no one mentioned in the Gatlinburgh area is "Roaring Fork Nature Trail". Just out of town in Gatlinburgh. It's a "one way" road with multiple "stops" at some old cabins and scenic views of Roaring Fork Creek. A nice little side excursion. But I also concur with both Cades Cove and Clingman's Dome. Both are great destinations in the park.
  9. The guys at Research Alloys are around Saturday mornings till about noon.
  10. Got an old Emerson 20" w/jacks, good pic, buzz (intermittant) in built in speakers - was going to junk it - your's if you want it - PM me.
  11. No, and I will not comment on any further speculation.
  12. Yea, and deep down I know there are some real trashed "low mile" trucks, but I'm kind of hung up on the miles for now. Thanks.
  13. OK, so I'm tired of dicking around with Craigslist morons, I know what I want is going to be hard to find, but here it is: Pickup truck 2 wheel drive 6 cylinder (3.0, 3.9, 4.0, 4.3, 4.9, whatever) Automatic w/OD (it's just easier to back the trailer up the driveway) A/C -working or not - I can fix it (yes I'm a little old, a little fat and like my comfort) Fuel injected (I can fix a carb - I just don't want to) Less than 100K miles Some mechanical issues OK Decent Body (I hate doing bodywork cause I don't do it well) I'll spend up to $2K for the right truck - short bed or stepside a plus. If you've got one or know of one let me know. Need somtehing to tow the kart trailer this season. Thanks!
  14. Poverty DOES NOT cure - just causes withdrawal symptoms!! (speaking first hand) Was at the chiefs meeting last weekend, there may be some good news on some lots other than NTR & OSU before season's end. Don't want to jinx anything Andy's been working on - and these two sites are still very good compared to what others run on. Still, a bit more pavement is always a good thing....
  15. http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/2904/bear008hostedbq8.jpg By craig71188, shot with SP320 at 2009-02-17 http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/970/bear009hostedrm8.jpg By craig71188, shot with SP320 at 2009-02-17 Meet "Bear" a year old American Bulldog. This is a farm dog that was sent to a shelter in Bellefountaine due to the family having too many dogs. My wife and daughter adopted him based on his great disposition. My daughter plans to go into a dog training carrer and this was to be her "resume". Unfortunalty, due to my wife's health, we cannot keep him for three months till she graduates high school. The Good: He is a big (57 lbs and is a bit "underweight) sweetie! Very docile, not food aggressive and gets along with our 12 year old rat terrier (who doesn't really like other dogs). Seems to like everyone and is housebroken. The not so good: He's been to the vet and despite what the shelter said - he had worms-and has been treated. Also has coccidia - another parasite, meds are at vet and will go with him-three week treatment. Vet also recommended a course of Revolution for any/all flees/ticks/mites as a precaution (also goes with dog). He has not yet been neutered-but we have a "free" coupon in our name and will arrange to get this done for you. My daughter hates to part with him, but with no option of "fostering'" him for the next three months, we need to let him go. Just looking to recover her adoption fees / vet bill and meds - $200 (she works for a vet-great discount!) If needed, she has a crate, food, toys, collars, lead and bedding that can be had for what she has in them $300.
  16. 1) Just have her come drive the car first. 2) If she loves the sport, maybe a spare set of wheels with good tires. 3) If she really loves the sport, look for a car she likes that is competitive in it's class. 4) Refer back to #1 5) Refer back to #2 6) You'll have enough experience to look at additional mods. 7) Pick the brains of your fellow competitors runnign the same car. But as previously stated, come to a school. I do recommend you drive an event or two prior to the school if possible. Then you don't spend the first part of the school learning the basic concept of "autocrossing". Come see any of the CR folks and we'll help her walk throught the first event or two.
  17. RARE does not equal VALUABLE! Saleen entered the VERY short lived (maybe 1 season) SCCA Pro Truck road racing series and one some races with the Fords. Seems the trucks also rolled over a lot and the series ended quickly. Let's face it, if he could have sold them, he would have built more than 27! Great for someone with a Saleen monkey on his back. For $15K, you could build a better faster Ranger (and better looking too!).
  18. I'm traveling - but will be back Wednesday afternoon. If you get hung up, PM me and your welcome to stop over and we can put it together.
  19. Broken - I would guess the bendix/drive broke internally. Drop the starter and see. Haven't priced a diesel starter recently, but usually you can buy the drive as a separate piece.
  20. Been there done that! Checked the rear view mirror WAAAAAY to late when entering a turn and visited a lot of acreage on the outside of the track. Once in the carousel at MO, once in turn 1 at Nelson - you'd think I'd have learned after the first one!!!
  21. Duh - my bad, try this: http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/995882661.html
  22. Is this the one in Baltimore: sale-995882661@craigslist.org Just ran across it this morning while browsing...
  23. 1999 Tracker 4 wheel drive, auto, a/c, cruise, tilt, new top. Bought it from a kid on campus not running. Thought I might keep it for my daughter - but she still wants a Jeep. Replaced the top, alternator and battery and did a LOT of clean up. Still needs a set of tires, will need and exhaust. Some rust underneath but pretty decent truck - great gas mileage. Has just shy of 91,000 miles on it. See the pics here: http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/995006441.html $2500 firm (just above KBB "fair" private sale value)
  24. Rich is dead on - also note though.... All too often people start following the car ahead (looks like a Viper) and start to think I'm catching him, I'm catching him and stop watching/driving the track and instead start concentrating on the rear end of the car ahead. Inveitably, they wind up in the wrong place, miss their marks, and crash. In some cases, I've seen the lead car go off and the following car follows them right off the track!!! Drive the track-not the car you're behind.
  25. Stereo Lab on Indianola will "recone" speakers. I had an old set of Advent's done there, but, it's about $75 per "cone" (actually just the foam like you show in the photo). I got mine done for about half since when the wife took them in and asked "how much", they said $75, but didn't mention "each". She bitched them down to about $100 for the pair - they work/sound great 3 years later and counting.
