that car should weigh around 3300lbs at most. with that power, it should be a mid-10 second car with even an average driver. i'm a complete novice at racing, can't powershift at all, and even i ran 11.5 at 128mph a year and a half ago in florida heat and full weight with my fat ass. and i have the baby whipple with 590rwhp and had a stock IRS at the time. people with my power level routinely run 10's if they can drive well. the car in the video is definitely not running correctly, or not driven correctly. either way, the gtr moves out

damn, never seen a motor that looks like that before---what the hell is it??

just bought two of these right now for some unknown reason. thanks for the tip, awesome deal

this is what i would do if i were you. just as long as you could stop at that and not be tempted to add nitrous, etc. good luck

"pay dat man hees money" --john malkovich as Teddy KGB, from the movie rounders thread backfire at its greatest

my only advice was that the TA is the exact same car as your cobra, its just someone else has already spent the money, and is now, obviously sick of it. if you think that car will not need anything done to it, and you're going to get years of carefree driving enjoyment out of it, i think you will be disappointed. i understand people grow out of their cars all the time---my advice is if you do that frequently, don't sink tons of money into the car because you'll be left with the exact same feeling you have with the cobra.

let me help you. there's a reason why this person wants out from this car and into another one--- it would be one thing if he said "i have a kid on the way, and have to get rid of my ride" he is sick of his own car for one reason or another. every car can be made to look good on paper. write down all of the modifications that you've done to your cobra on a sheet of paper. if you take a step back and look at it, it sounds like you have an absolute bad-ass car. now when you get in the car and drive it, you might not agree with your initial impression based only on looking at what you wrote down. i'd be willing to bet you will be just as unhappy with a heavily modded, lsx race car.

as others have stated, the car is worth minimally more than an unmodded car. your best asset to expedite the sale of this car is the low mileage on the body---i would stress that. of course, a well-built motor, and car that has EVERYTHING functioning on it that is supposed to will go a long way towards selling it. comments like "car runs fine but has a weird vibration", or "car just needs to be tuned", or "motor just needs new plugs/fuel injectors/fuel pump/etc"-----all these comments just scream the fact that the car has major problems (hence raising an immediate red flag) to a potential buyer. selling the car with everything functioning properly, and a good tune will get you top dollar. as far as modding cars---yeah, it doesn't pay off. its fun up until the point you start breaking shit, and making the car undriveable. i made my '87 GT very unpleasant to drive, and it wasn't even that fast---so i sold it. i'm fighting the urge to do tons more to my '04 cobra, as i want an easy 10 second car that is 100% streetable, without removing weight from it. my recommendation to anyone sick of modded cars and breaking shit, is to simply buy a car with enough power to have some fun with, and do minimal mods---catback, intake, and a tune---nothing more as far as power goes. that's my GTO---if it had 4 doors for my 3 kids, it would be perfect. once you have to start worrying about your car not starting, overheating, stalling at a light, spinning out in the rain, or being too loud for the cops or your neighbors when you come home at 2am---its just not worth it--unless you have a separate dedicated race car for times when you want that.

i live in a town of 30k people an hour north of milwaukee. there's a decent scene in milwaukee. plenty of older muscle cars here, but obviously, nothing like columbus. oddly, there's two other terminators in my town, several gto's, two other c6z's, and a zr1.

i haven't 'rocked' the lift with the car on it, but it feels stable when you let the car down onto the safety stops. with no car on it, and the 6' casters, it is easily movable with 2 people---we easily moved it onto and across the carpet with 2 people. the garage floor is professionally finished, hence my hesitation to drill holes in it.

thanks. its sitting on carpet

finally. had a difficult time finding someone to put it together for me. its a bendpak 9000st---pretty much an entry level bendpak, which will be more than enough for my needs (mostly oil changes). haven't gotten the sliding center jack yet, but that's next on the list. i resisted the urge to bolt it into the ground--still feels solid when lifting my car, and i can move it around with the casters that came with it. i've decided not to store a car under it, i can fit all my cars in there right now without doing that http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/2622/dsc01288u.jpg http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/9352/dsc01293a.jpg http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9929/dsc01294tz.jpg http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/4963/dsc01297.jpg http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/3084/dsc01296sr.jpg

burn the house down----neighbors forced to relocate, problem solved. honestly, you need to get the motion cameras. stop at their house and ask to talk to the teenagers. let them know someone stole your wheels, and ask them if they've seen any suspicious activity around their house---act like you don't know it was them. they'll get the picture that 'you know'. if you want to add some flare, just let them know that you plan on shooting any intruders stealing your property. its an indirect way to threaten them---most of these people are cowards, they'll get the picture

i liked it when i lived in columbus. its not meant to be a cheap ass bar---try not al too's or whatever the hell campus bars are still around.

you could probably do a vented gas unit for less than $1500 and be completely done with any b.s. associated with a torpedo heater. turn it on, turn it off--whatever you want. both of mine are set up with a thermostat to keep a constant temp in the winter---my shop because i don't want my cars to get cold. my attached garage because we have bedrooms above the garage

welcome, great intro

z-06 with tons of body work to make it a targa top??--dumb idea or targa top dressed up to fool people into thinking its a z-06?? dumb idea either way, i wouldn't do it to my car. to each their own. at least it sounds good

beware that to a certain extent it can be genetic. not to say that kids of alcoholic parents will automatically have addiction issues, but approximately 12% of people are predisposed to addiction of one type or another, and there is a genetic basis for that. good luck

here, i searched for you. there's enough info here to complete a book report on this dealership. like i said, i'd avoid the place like an aids-infested hooker http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62644&highlight=denny+dotson http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61044&highlight=denny+dotson http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50454&highlight=denny+dotson http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39670&highlight=denny+dotson http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40225&highlight=denny+dotson http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33619&highlight=denny+dotson http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30826&highlight=denny+dotson

what else do you need to hear?? sounds like you had enough experience before you made this thread to have an opinion on the matter---everyone else's comments/experiences support your story. based on the evidence in this thread, you'd have to be absolutely nuts to do business with them. every time someone brings up the dealer name, nothing positive is said--the search function should be your friend here. and it appears they like golf as well--i did not know that. personally, i'd avoid that place like aids.

and then hennessey steals $100k of your money and leaves you high and dry. anyone 'in the know' wouldn't even let him change their oil. just goes to show how many 'motor trend' fanboys will shell out big bucks just because he gets publicity. multiple, multiple threads all over with accounts of him stealing parts of one car to use on another, letting cars sit forever in his shop, and just basically being a complete ass on multiple car forums. he is particularly bad with out-of-town customers, who might not be able to check up on their cars

welcome back nick. great intro, good to see someone here that races their car.
