+1 there's a shop right by one of the hospitals i work at here in tampa with at least 15 of these cars sitting outside--its a nissan specialty shop. i'm seriously considering getting one of these next summer on my way out of tampa, for an LSX swap.

go for it. there are plenty of threads where you've personally attacked me, and my skill as a surgeon "putting in knee replacements crooked", etc.--i'm sure the chiropractic board in ohio would be interested in that. maybe i'll give them a call (because i'm a big fucking crybaby), and you can explain that to them, and take 6 months out of your awesome carpal tunnel laser treatment practice. you've proven time and time again that you just have a chip on your shoulder when it comes to the practice of medicine. hell, who came into this thread first with the attacks on dr.'s?? if i was a 'computer dr.' i could look up articles all day long about chiropracters causing carotid artery aneurysms (and producing strokes in patients). if you can't handle someone attacking you, or your profession, then maybe you should keep your fucking mouth shut about mine.

oh, i'm sorry, why don't i suggest a massage with some scented oil for the original poster. maybe i'll be able to 'manipulate' some inflammatory tissue out of position. better yet, i can have him bend forward to stretch his back out, and while he's bending forward, i can reach over his back, and pick his pocket---isn't that what you do, rick???

that will be more than enough for me. i have no idea what's involved with getting 9" axle ends on my car, but it sounds like a good idea. unfortunately, i'm probably going to have to rely on a shop to put this all together for me. i'd love to do it myself, but with all the welding, installing the ring gear, and the fact that i just don't have the time here in tampa, i'll have to look into a speed shop.

hard to know with your previous surgery. --things to look out for (go to emergency department): persistent numbness in your arm/hands noticeable muscle weakness these two things indicate significant pressure on one of the nerve roots to your arm, or the spinal cord itself (unlikely, i would think, but with previous surgery, you never know). i would take some anti-inflammatory medication (naproxen, mobic, motrin) with food, and make an appointment with your spine surgeon if your symptoms persist. derek snook is one of the better spine surgeons in the city 759-1186

guys, i'm just starting to do some research on building a solid rear for my car, and am compiling a parts list. first, i want to build one from the ground-up, with all-new parts, and will be keeping the IRS just in case. i'm looking for a rear that can hold big power, maybe 1000hp, who knows--i'd like to build it with plenty of room to spare. it will be mostly a street car, with the occasional trip to the dragstrip. i'd like for the car to be somewhat reasonable going through the twisties, but am not interested in any road racing. here's the parts list so far: --'99-'04 mustang GT 8.8 housing, with mustang GT rotors (instead of mach1 rotors, will allow 15" wheels), dust shields, ABS rings, bolts, and lines, brake brackets, cobra pinion flange, exhaust hangers --motive gear master gear install kit --moser 31 spline axles with 3" axle studs --eaton 31 spline traction lock diff. or detroit true trac ????? --TA rear cover --welded axle tubes --ford racing 3.55 gears (not interested in anything steeper) --maximum motorsports extreme duty adjustable lower control arms --max. motorsports panhard bar, or uppers?????? --max. motorsports torque arm --max motorsports rear sway bar --tokico adjustable shocks and struts?????? any other suggestions?? --torque box reinforcements --rear coilovers, or just plain springs?????--i've heard bullitt springs work well, if you don't go with coilovers --c-clip eliminators????? --catback????? --9 inch ends??? i have no idea what these are, where they go, or if i need them or not??? --i already have max. motorsports full length subframes installed everything with a ? mark after it, is an area that i'm not sure about yet. there are tons of bullshit miscellaneous parts that i will be getting from tousley ford (including the 8.8 housing). what do you guys think?? i'm up for suggestions on anything, as i have plenty of time until i start compiling parts this coming spring. thanks --

make sure you coat the flywheel bolts with sealant. last time i changed out the rear main in my '87 (10 years ago), i did not do this, and had oil leak from the flywheel bolts. after i sealed them up, the problem went away

rofl. this is an unsafe time we live in folks. especially with vigilantes carrying guns everywhere, thinking 'they're the law'. when i was in school, if someone was caught with a knife in school, it was a HUGE deal. today, i wouldn't be surprised if several kids had guns on their person at an average inner city school each day. in the 60's, if you got into an argument with someone on the road, you pulled to the side of the road and duked it out. these days, you could get shot. you just can't fuck around with ANYONE these days for fear that they are carrying.

no, you don't know the anatomy, or the physiology--the surgery is based on both. . no risk, no reward. there is such a thing as an acceptable risk---no one can predict how the body will respond (to anesthesia, or other factors). 'death' is listed on every consent form patients sign, and i explicitly mention that with EVERY patient. you may not kill anyone in your career, but you and i both know that you're not really providing anything but smoke and mirrors. it IS happening all over the world--even in japan to some extent

no, YOU have proven that you have next to no medical knowledge. stick to giving backrubs, and manipulating (unsuspecting peoples' wallets), and we will all be better off. of course i know that the small intestine has areas where different nutrients are selectively absorbed (remember, i went to medical school). you still have not given me any information on the surgery, itself--how much intestine is bypassed, what specifically is malabsorbed as a result of the surgery?? surely, you know, since you're a dietician. if you're going to treat patients who have been 'done wrong' by having the surgery, than you must know all about the surgery, right?? its easy to throw stones, when you're on the periphery, not actually seeing or treating sick people. one of these days, somebody is going to show up to your office acutely ill, and you will not have a fucking clue what to do---let me give you some advice---call 911. obesity is a disease, my friend. people like you are just in denial.

how can anyone give you advice?? you're telling us that you're considering getting rid of your vette to build a fast, reliable, road/track, mystery car. tell us what you're thinking of building, or don't make a thread like this. no one's going to be upset if you don't end up building it--you're just thinking out loud.

without the surgery, most of these people are doomed anyways. i'd like to see your mortality data. at mount carmel, i didn't see one person die out of the hundreds of GB surgeries we did. sure, there were plenty of leaks, that had to have more surgery, etc, etc--but no deaths. so show me the published mortality rate from a good surgical journal please. and i love how you make dieting seem like simple math--i'm sure you're a successful 'self-proclaimed' dietician. do you know how much of the intestine is even bypassed by the surgery??? give me a number. i think you'll find its not a 'good chunk' of the intestines. you should have some actual medical training before giving medical advice.

you're only seeing the 'non-success stories', you don't see the people whose lives have been saved by the surgery. and patients should be on multivitamins after the surgery. it is definitely a fairly drastic measure, i will admit--but sometimes the only thing that can get these people to lose weight. the surgery is CLEARLY not for everyone. that is why the requirements are fairly strict to be a candidate (documented attempts at a physician/nutritionist guided diets, medical comorbidities, a thorough psych screening, etc.). and yes, it is possible to 'defeat' the surgery with low volume/high calorie foods that clear out of your stomach rapidly--but that is rare. i don't need a new line, the one i'm using is perfectly fine.

when someone has a BMI above a certain level (35, i believe--can't remember), as well as 1-2 medical comorbidities that go along with being overweight, such as type II diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, etc. etc. dieting/losing weight can be just as hard if not harder than quiting alcohol, cigarettes, and or drugs---it can be that hard. no amount of will power can help sometimes. i know i will be battling weight eventually as the stress of my career and trying to find time for my kids, allows me less time to work out. sometimes surgery can be an answer. procedures such as lap banding and gastric bypass surgery are risky, but can be well worth it--i'm sure rick will come in to argue against surgery, and for some type of manipulation. there is no question that the surgery is risky though--i saw plenty of complications when i rotated through general surgery, but i also saw people lose 200-400lbs and no longer have diabetes.
