yes, you can even keep the screws for free--just remember to ask them, or they'll throw them away.

my bad. that is probably the worst thing i've seen so far this year--we normally don't see much of that at our hospital even though we see a fair amount of trauma. shit like that happens every day and sometimes multiple times a day in the summer at grant.

davison is awesome. he left grant about two years ago and now works with us at mt. carmel--he is probably the second best trauma surgeon for ortho in the city, behind attila poka, who is basically retired. insurance will definitely cover the removal of the screws in your ankle, and it will be a simple 30 minute outpatient surgery, with really no recovery whatsoever. it is common for them to back out a bit, as well. call davison's office---759-1186 and make an appt with him.

medical insurance will cover it if it is deemed necessary. the only reason to take it out would be if you are having excessive knee pain. in that case, removing the nail will help 50-60% of the time. if you're not having knee pain, do NOT remove the nail, there is no reason to do so. if you've got skinny ankles, and can feel the screws at your ankle, those can be removed very easily--we do that all the time. and i'm pretty good at what i do. two months from now, i'll be able to start a private practice--but i'm going to spend one year in florida getting specialty training for advanced knee and hip replacements. i was able to save one of this guy's legs. he will walk again. be thankful you're not him. this was new year's eve http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/7835/leg014jg7.jpg

your surgeon's last name is either poka, davison, mehta, millard, or the infamous bruce french---those were the guys at grant in '05. just because that is the person you saw initially, and for follow-up, doesn't mean that he's the one who did 'most' of the surgery---grant is a teaching hospital. your initial post-op x-rays look perfect by the way

with that fracture, i would have let you walk on it immediately. the guys i worked with at grant (dr.'s poka, mehta, french, pugh, and davison) used to have something they called the 'asshole pennance', where they would not let their patients walk right away if they were dickheads. so did you get the asshole pennance?? Edit----i just saw the date on your x-ray. i was at grant at that exact same time. its entirely possible that i did that surgery.

hopefully no one PITT moves your donorcycle. do you want titanium or 316L stainless steel in your broken femur when it happens (i'm not wishing this upon you, but most people eventually wreck a bike if they ride enough)?? i'm assuming you don't have health insurance by the way you conduct yourself, and i take care of all the uninsured "urban athletes" in this city.
  10. tonsil surgery in an adult sucks ass completely. lots of bleeding and big infection risk---totally different than removing tonsils in a child.
  11. its a hobby, a means of entertainment. if you think of the amount of money americans spend on entertainment/unnecessary objects you will be amazed. i had a doc at my hospital ask me that question last year, and it actually took me a while to answer him. he said: why build a car with twice the horsepower it came with?? why own something that can go 160+mph, when you will never go that fast (legally)?? cars are a means of transportation, why should they be used for anything other than getting from point A to point B?? just the same, he had difficulty explaining his barn and 6 horses that he owns---they are expensive as hell, and he does not earn any money from them, so why own them?? simply entertainment. why should my wife own 6 designer purses, several pairs of $200+ sunglasses, and countless other things that make me cringe when i see the receipts?? entertainment. why would a woman pay $6,000 to have plastic and water put into her chest?? a completely unnecessary surgery that carries risks of death from the anesthetic, and infection from the surgical incisions. the answer, my friend is entertainment--in this case entertainment for us.
  12. sleep apnea can have many causes--blocked sinus passages, enlarged tonsils, etc etc. if the problem is only from the sinus blockage, surgery will have unbelievable results--unbelievable. these people feel completely reborn, re-energized, etc.--the surgery ranks very high as far as patient gratification
  13. which doctor did you see?? boris karanfilov, is one of the better docs to see for your problem--and he's a car guy to boot--911 turbo, and a twin turbo, gutted S4. he pretty much does mostly computer guided nasal surgery for 75% of his practice
  14. if the rain clears, its a go for me.---wife/kids are up in akron, so i'm in the clear.
  15. welcome, goats are around, there are several on the board here.
  16. love the color, definately one of my favorite car colors on a car. and the black accents set the car off perfectly.
  17. yeah there were plenty of people, i just didn't recognize anyone's car, and i think most people were there with regular cars in the lot, and were eating out on the patio.
  18. thank god i don't have to deal with this shit. to the original poster, take pictures, document the times that you went to the parents, and their reactions, and file a police report. if you witnessed the kid doing it, it doesn't matter if it was an accident, its damaged property. get the police involved, and say nothing more to the parents--the police WILL sort it out.
  19. i rolled through early (9:30ish) but had to get back home--there wasn't much going on when i went through, but it was just after 9pm.
  20. i know, i know--i went a bit overboard there. relax, my next (sports) car will most certainly be a vette, but i'm keeping the cobra.
  21. sweet. dave, expect a call from me in a few weeks. this site is great
  22. very cool. i'd say that's an upgraded turbo alright.
  23. car looks sharp as hell for that many miles
  24. you're not easily impressed.
