  1. The customer service did surprise me, even after what I've read. I ordered the RMM insert, and ordered the blue color instead of black. They ran out of blue after I ordered. Instead of just letting my order sit until it was in stock and making me wait, they actually called me and said if you don't care about the color, we can ship a black one today. Little things like that make them my first choice for parts.
  2. That is a hell of a deal you got. I might've recommended trying to find a black one to help hide some of the smile on the front end, but for that deal you can't pass it up. Check out Corksport for some upgrades, the inlet pipe w/ short ram intake I got from them is probably my single favorite upgrade in terms of smoothing out the acceleration.
  3. http://failblog.org/2011/11/05/epic-fail-photos-remember-to-fail/ Someone beat me to it on failblog, but I did submit it to Leno. This paper isn't exactly small by any means either, it covers a large portion of northeast Ohio. Almost everyone on my floor at work knows about it because people keep putting it on facebook.
  4. This was in our local News Herald today, on the front page. Not as big as the Plain Dealer, but still a very big paper in the Lake County area. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/miataman91/typo.jpg I can't imagine how the person responsible for that feels right now. Probably worrying about keeping their job at the very least. This was one of 3 typos on the front page alone.
  5. Torque steer can be annoying at first, I've found myself getting used to it over time though. Like Tim said, suspension is stiff for a daily driver on shitty Ohio roads. Clutch is also finicky but again you won't notice it as much after a couple months. Aside from those cons, I have no other complaints. By far the best seats I've ever had in a car, get a TIP/SRI and rear motor mount and it greatly improves the driveability of the car. You can haul plenty of stuff, back seat room is decent, and it's actually really good for long road trips because of the seats. Also, I still haven't gotten sick of surprising the shit out of people that think it's just a regular Mazda 3 with fancy wheels. Gets very little unwanted attention too, both from cops and ricers alike.
  6. If you want to avoid a lot of headaches in the future, I would just get the SC plates. Ohio really doesn't verify this stuff very well and probably would never find out, but we are very lax when it comes to registration and insurance here. South Carolina is a whole other ballgame though. They have a state database of cars insured in SC, and they will know if your car is insured in the state but not registered. No one can say for sure if anything would ever come of it, but I'm of the opinion that it's better to pay a little extra and do it the right way then have to deal with the lovely DMV later on.
  7. http://www.thereformedbroker.com/2011/10/09/this-is-why-they-hate-you-and-want-you-to-die/ This comes close to summing up my view on the whole situation. This article was written by an investment advisor, far from a hippie by any means.
  8. Your very legitimate point is going to fall on deaf ears for the majority of this forum. As with any protest, the major "news" sites (CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc) will set their focus on the negative aspects. Do I agree with how they are protesting? Not fully, but anyone who can't see the disparity that drives the whole idea behind the protests is ignorant of what is going on. Personally I've found myself in between the two view points on this. Realistically, I don't think the way the protesters are going about things currently is going to get them heard unless they come up with real, concrete demands that are specific. But I agree with what they are protesting about.
  9. Exactly. I have lots of friends who never tried it when they were young because of D.A.R.E. brainwashing or just the household they grew up in. Now that they are older they say they would like to try it but it isn't worth risking their career for. I get the feeling a lot of people probably feel this way.
  10. Thanks for all the responses, I'll keep them in mind. My big question now is actually where to stay though. I want to be near some good bars. None of us are really into the whole club thing, but just some bars with good beer and good atmosphere. If anyone has suggestions on good neighborhoods or hotels to stay at please let me know. Doesn't need to be super cheap but I'm not a baller either.
  11. Not sure about credit card, but it is only a dollar per hour most of the time, and no matter how much it costs it's worth not having to worry about someone trying to parallel park by your car. It should be a requirement for anyone living on campus to learn how to fucking parallel park. When I lived down there everyone was a big fan of the "back up till you feel the car stop, then park" method.
  12. The big ass parking garage right behind the restaurant is a good start.
  13. Looking for any tips on stuff to do in Chicago. Going with a couple friends to see a blues show in November, going to be there Monday through Wednesday. Specifically looking for good restaurant suggestions, and more importantly good bar suggestions. Not a fan of dance clubs or anywhere that I might have to hear dubstep in. Anyone who's been there have any suggestions? Also, anyone who has lived there know if the Lincoln Park area is safe-ish to stay in? The show is in Lincoln Hall, and one person going with me was "told" that it isn't a safe neighborhood. I'm not too worried about that kind of stuff, but I also don't want to be offered PCP walking to the venue. Or do I?
  14. Bingo. Inefficient is a compliment that these clowns don't deserve. The two-party system is fucked, and the country is coming down with it.
  15. Where did you move from? I've dealt with policies in every state in the country now and I couldn't believe how extreme the differences are from state to state. Most states require insurance companies to report all insurance info to the state and they use that for vehicle registration info too. Same with pulling someone over. In Ohio, the only real verification they ever do is random checks for insurance every 3 years if you haven't gotten pulled over or had an accident in that time. Even when you do get pulled over, if you don't have your card on you most counties just let you send a copy of the card in with your ticket payment. That doesn't fly in a lot of places.
  16. I would check on this though. I don't know know if this is Ohio law or just the way coverages are where I work, but I know some companies will not allow you to have the property damage portion of Uninsured Motorist coverage if you also have Collision coverage (which you probably do if the car is anything newer than a 2005). On my Mazdaspeed I don't only have Uninsured bodily injury coverage because I have collision, but on the Miata I carry the property damage portion too since it's just at liability otherwise. I would highly recommend taking these coverages if you live in Ohio, we are one of the worst states for uninsured drivers because there is no real central state system that verifies a registered car is insured like most states in the South have. In Georgia if you go a couple days without insurance, the state knows immediately and will fine you or suspend your license. It's unreal that you still don't have to provide proof of insurance to register a car in Ohio.
  17. To whoever said they have nice interiors, I'm not sure what you're comparing it to but I wouldn't consider panel gaps big enough to fit your thumb through to be a nice interior. But overall they are cool cars, biggest thing that always turned me off was the overall styling.
  18. The online quote generally has to be accurate since you can buy the entire policy online without ever talking to someone. The only time I've ever seen the quote change after it was purchased is if we can't get an accurate driving record ordered for the driver during the quote process (if he has no tickets or accidents then this isn't an issue). Keep in mind, any company you do a quote through is going to throw in some one-time only discounts that fall off after the first term. In theory you could switch companies every 6 months and probably save a lot, but it's not worth the hassle. Progressive seems pretty competitive for younger drivers. I'm 23 and my policy with the Speed3 at full coverage and the old Miata at liability is under $500 per 6 months, with a speeding ticket. I did quotes through other companies and most were over $1,000 per 6 months, I think one company even wanted over $2,000. Double check your quote though, I'm betting it was $600 for 6 months, not for a full year.
  19. True, but most companies send you a notice at each renewal describing what offenses are on your MVR at the time of renewal. The company I work for archives every document that is sent out to a customer, as far back as late 90's at least, so in theory you could look up each of these documents and have them faxed over. Your agent probably doesn't even have access to stuff that far back, but the company itself will.
  20. Love this album. Funny thing is, if you look at individual efforts over the years from both Kanye and Jay-Z, they both have much better albums than WTT. But this album is still way better than what many artists could ever imagine creating. An "average" album by these two is great by any other standards.
  21. That is like saying you enjoy what Hitler did because it was well thought out. His posts were well thought out, but completely fucking retarded at the same time.
