  1. Sta-bil, full tank of gas, and a Battery Tender. When it comes time to start the car again, I just turn the key to ON for a couple seconds to let the fuel system prime, then it starts like I drove it the day before. Flatspotting isn't an issue, the tire s even out after jsut a little driving. Hell, the snow tires on my BRZ flatspot while I'm at work. From what I understand, some tires use nylon belts that don't like the cold (not sure why they're used on snow tires, but ehh).
  2. I'm not entirely sure an American V8 powered car should be graceful.
  3. I so hope this isn't speculation, but it looks legit... http://www.caranddriver.com/features/2014-chevrolet-corvette-c7-secret-info-and-renderings-news?redirect=no 3000lb target weight, and fantastic styling (IMO). I've never been a big Vette fan, but I'm REALLY digging this one.
  4. I work at the Sawmill Advance, just south of 270. The 4.3" peak camera we have is just a backup camera. And looking at the unit on the floor, it has the exact same proportions (screen vs bracket) as the one pictured. So I think the 7" measurement is wrong. We used to carry a GPS/Backup camera system, but my store doesn't have it any more. I'm not sure if other stores still have it.
  5. The peak ones are wireless. There's a transmitter for the camera and the screen has an internal reciever. Wiring one for a trailer, especially one with an Aux power circuit (7-lead plug/emergency trailer brake box), is a piece of cake. The screen mounts with a suction cup and plugs into a lighter socket.
  6. Bah. I'm just your secondary parts inventory; your drivers are here often enough.. Back OT: Service can vary greatly from store to store, even from eployee to employee in the same store. The only thing to do is to visit your local stores and find out who knows their shit and who is full of hot air. I know that in the stores I've worked in, almost everyone had something to contribute, but often in different areas. It's just tough to find a store/employee combo that works sometimes. The key, I think, is to have employees that are capable and *willing* to say "I don't know. Let me find someone who does." They need to want to solve the customer's issues, even if they can't.
  7. We have the 3.5 and the 4.3, but not the 7" (though I wonder if that's the 4.3 and they're measuring the casing and not just the screen, because that looks just like the 4.3 we carry) That's still a good price though.
  8. If the service at the 161 store isn't to your liking, give the Advance on Sawmill a shot. We've got the 2nd or 3rd largest parts inventory of any Advance in Columbus. And what we don't have we can usually grab from the 161 store relatively quickly.
  9. No IR or anything, but it's sensitive enough that I don't have any troubles at night. My reverse lights throw enough to illuminate any obstacles.
  10. I've used the ones Advance Auto Parts sells (naturally). They work great. The only issue I've run into is powering the camera by the reverse light like the instructions say. The screen takes a moment to kick on when the camera gets power, so when you're shifting in and out of reverse a lot it gets kind of annoying waiting fro the screen to turn on. So what I do is run a constant power feed to the camera; when the car is on, the camera is on. We have a display with one of these cameras that runs 24/7 so it can definitely handle being on whenever the car is running.
  11. I've had a car done by both. I think AAP is the choice when pre-cut forms are available for your car. Julius is the go-to guy if your car doesn't have pre-cut patterns, or custom shapes. The BRZ has the custom job and there are some rough spots. But considering the sheets were cut and shrunk to fit, the job is very good. The STI has the pre-cut sheets and while the vinyl is more even than the BRZ's, the coverage isn't as good. For durability, the bra on the STI is holding up well. The downside is that I haven't found a good way to fix abrasions on the bra. But the paint is in MUCH better condition that it would be if I didn't have the bra on it. And if I resell the car it won't require a respray to get top dollar.
  12. I wonder if he was even getting those tires up to temp.
  13. Don't know who that was, but he wasn't getting the headgaskets done at the right place then. Not that a 100K interval is "often" by any stretch of the imagination.
  14. The head gaskets need done at around 100K on the NA cars, then if done right you don't need to worry about them again.
  15. oops, missed that. Mercedes LOL
  16. This is the color scheme I was thinking of going with if I built an 818. Though I'd probably add black stripes too.
  17. I can't figure it out either. I'm not sure if he's one of the best trolls I've ever seen, capable of playing a long game, or if he's really that oblivious and totally ego-centric. I'm just having trouble believing a troll is capable of a Long Game like this. Even CR's pro-trolls can't last more than a half day. So I guess I have to vote this guy as legit. God have mercy on his soul.
  18. Well, as long as the Mayan temples are in the 21st there's still hope.
  19. Hmm... I think I figured it out. Let me try a translation: Hi guys, I need your help with something. The SCCA doesn't class my 07 Z4M roadster in any Street Touring Class. I think this is an oversight and I've written them regarding this. Recently they've classed earlier (98-02) M roadsters in STR, but they still haven't addressed the years my car falls into. So I was hoping the SCCA members among you could write the SOLO Board and ask them to review the 06-08 range of Z4M roadsters for inclusion in the STR (Street Touring Roadster) class. I think an argument can be made based on it's heavier weight offsetting its increased power. Thank you.
  20. I see what you did there... As an ultimate hooner, it's darn near perfect stock. Changing the suspension and tires changes that aspect. But the upside is that it matures a little bit and becomes a fantastic handling car. If I could get over voiding the powertrain warranty, an E85 tune, intake, and exhaust would get me at 200+rwhp. And coupling that with a CF driveshaft, lightweight flywheel, clutch, and pulley, and this thing would be a surprising screamer. Though I think a tuned FR-S would be a bit redundant with your FD.
  21. Ok, went a little overboard there.... However, there is one C4 I wouldn't mind owning. It was a 1994 ZR-1 that I test drove. I'm glad I didn't buy it at the time but wish I had it now.
