We have pretty much the same car sitting in the shop right now getting everything you are talking about and the goals are roughly the same. We are using a custom grind from designed by Micheal Rauscher from L&M engines. He is not a huge name in the lsx world but he does a lot of our Ford stuff for us and has been involved in some of the nastiest modular stuff out recently. We finished up an 04 Z06 a month or so back that Michael did the cam for as well and he hit our goals for the car square on the head. You are more than welcome to stop in the shop and we can walk you through what we are using in this car and maybe it will help you determine what direction to go in your car. IPS has obviously had some good success in the LSX field as well and I dont think you would go wrong stopping in and talking with either one of our shops. Brady

We have a stock 04 Z06 cam sitting in the shop I could make you a good deal on. The car it came out of has 14k miles on it and the cam is in great condition.

I dont think anyone knows for sure what these are capable of. The ecoboost pcm's are encrypted, so for now it is a waiting game until someone gets around the encryption.

I would have to go back and look but iirc, you got one of the standalone SmartStart sytems which is why your service plan was cheaper. The rebate is on the GPS version which is only done as an add on to a current remote start system. The service plans are also a little more on the gps version since it does tracking and all that stuff as well.

No joke, I dont get upset often but last year we had a customer drop off a manual and he failed to tell us it had a remote start on it. To make it even better, it wasnt hooked up properly. It was parked in the back lot and one of the guys was getting ready to pull. I was walking across the lot to another vehicle and the right combination of buttons got pushed and the car was in gear. Long story short, I about got ran over.....I can only imagine if something like that happened in a walmart parking lot and a kid got ran over.

No problem at all.

Glad to hear the it worked out for you. We certianly appreciate the business! Yes, it is simply a company policy. Over the last few years Viper has incorporated being able to do the installs on manual vehicles. We did a few when they first came out and you really have to educate the consumer on how it works and it they can be a pain. They are a little more labor intensive and if something fails, there is a window for something bad to happen. In the end, we are a business and it simply makes more business sense for us to avoid the manuals than it does to do them....

Give us a call tomorrow at (740)549-2828 and ask for Justin or Nick. One of them can quote it out for you but I am sure it will come in quite a bit less than $1400 using new oem parts for everything.

Thats pretty cool. I had no idea there were any of those in Ohio.

Tracy was pitted a few cars down from us at the Texas Mile. Talked to her a decent amount over the weekend. We have some of the same friends. She seemed pretty cool and the car is very nice. Im not usually big on the way kenne bell blowers look but the boss car is nice and clean and everything looks like it belongs rather than a bunch of parts being purchased from the hardware store.... She ran in the place of Ken Bjonnes, so as you are looking up the results, you need to look for Ken's name. Her best of the weekend was 165.5. The car had more in it but it was laying over bad on the top end. There are a few different stories on it. In the pits everyone was saying it went into failsafe past the 1/2 mile mark and the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree but her husband or someone from their shop posted on s197 that she did 165.5 in the half and then lifted....I dont know the real story. Im more inclined to say the first is the truth from what I saw but who knows. Either way the platform is a great platform to work with and that car has plenty of potential. It has already ran some nasty speeds in the 1/4. The 5.8 with a TVS should be a fun platform. One thing for sure, that combo should make a lot of torque. I would imagine that Ford will limit some of the low end torque output to make the car more driver friendly. The tvs may not like much more pulley than what the car comes with which means alot will probably end up going to a larger blower to make more power. As far as modding a car or even using a car for race use and the warranty being in tact, if the manufacturers can prove that either was done, they shouldnt be liable to warranty the vehicle. I know alot will not agree with that but the fact is that the american muscle cars are some of the most mod friendly cars out there and they get more and more expensive every year and im sure the margins arent rising much if any on them. Part of that cost is simply warranty work from abuse. What we are starting to see now is manufacturers encrypting pcm's to prevent aftermarket tuning. The new Ecoboost motors, the 6.7 diesel trucks, and the 20111-2012 Chrysler platforms all come to mind. The manufacturers are so determined to stop false warranty claims that they are getting to the point of denying warranty on things that probably should be covered just because it is borderline. At the end of the day it is a business and the only way for them to stay in business and they need to be profitable in all aspects in order to be able to continue to produce the cars we all love and enjoy. Now obviously this is only one small problem with the american auto manufacturers and there are plenty of other issues that could be pointed out but the bottom line is you have to pay to play....

Roush TVS on 10 lbs. Made 640 on race gas on the dyno. All in all, I would say 180.2 on 10 psi through the stock block is pretty impressive for that car. There was only 1 other 5.0 faster than that out there and he ran a 181 on a built motor with a 2.9 whipple on 13 psi......I didnt see that pass or I would have made another with a bit more aggressive file in my car, a few aero changes, and running a slightly shorter tire. I think 182-183 would have been highly doable with what I had available to me to work with. At the time, the next fastest 5.0 I had seen only ran 165.5. My goal was to hit 180 and come back with the car in one piece and running like it did before we left Ohio. I hit both of those and packed up while I was ahead.

You can run the Texas Mile up to 190mph without a cage. Above 190 requires a bar and I believe above 200 requires a full cage. All cars have to have a in car extinguisher and you must where an approved helmet and gloves. They are actually pretty lenient....

Thanks I appreciate it. It is a really fun car to own and drive and done right I think they will hold up well also.

Im not really sure. I was mainly focused on what was going on with the group of people we were down there with and didnt pay alot of attention to much else. Between runs, going over logs, and prepping for the next run, I really didnt get to watch too much.

Im pretty happy with the results!! http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02059.jpg And here are a few more pics from the weekend. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02026.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02032.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02033.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02034.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02035.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02045.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02046.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02044.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02050.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02052.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02028.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Oct%202011%20Texas%20Mile/DSC02041.jpg And here are the videos

Yeah, it was a bit bumpy but not too bad. This is a new location. Everyone said Goliad was a nicer track but had a shorter shutdown. All in all it was a great weekend. I ended up running 180.2 this morning into what I am told was a 6mph headwind. Im happy with that. From what I could tell, the next closest 5.0 only ran 165.5 and there was a whippled 5.0 as well as a Boss 302 with a 3.6 Kenne Bell that ran. My friend Van also went 204.8 in a SuperSnake which is a new record for a GT500 in the mile. Ill post pics and vids of both runs when I get back and have a better internet connection.

Honestly, I have no interest in going that fast. 170 plus is a lot of fun but I dont know how much above that I really would want to go. Im all game for watching someone else drive though....
-
Close. Went 179.4 this evening. The ambient temp sensor on the car read 91 degrees and there was still a slight headwind. I also hit a limiter at 6600 in 5th and the car pulled 11 degrees of timing. Had I stayed off the limiter, im confident it would have been a 180 run. Oh well, gonna try tomorrow. Either way, I am really happy with the way the car runs and handles at those speeds. It was a lot of prep work to prepare everything and I am running right at where I thought I would be.

Here is the in car video of that run

Not really sure to be honest. As speed builds, the power requried to overcome everything becomes exponential....Of course addressing the aerodynamics would help with that.

Ran the 5.0 in the Texas mile today for the first time. Had to make a qualifying pass between 145 and 165 the first run in order to get liscensed above 165. The first run I went 148.8 in the 1/2 mile and lifted before going through the traps at 160.1. The second run was into a pretty good headwind. The car felt good but the track is a bit bumpy and you can definitely feel the wind blowing the car. I lifted just a hair before crossing the mile mark as the car bounced a bit and I wasnt comfortable staying in it. Ended up running 149.9 in the 1/2 mile and 175.4. The tune in the car is a bit conservative being on the rich side and it should handle a few more degrees of timing. I think 180 is definitely going to be doable in it. Here is the video of the run from this evening. Sorry for the bouncy camera....
-
No problem. It can be confusing. Most cars boost only changes if the blower rpm changes. These cars are completely different. Measured boost can vary just off the cam angles the car is running.
-
Jones, are you going to the Nov 5th track day at 42? If the car comes back from Texas in one piece, I will most likely try to make that track day with it.

About 8k miles ago. Lol. I think mid spring if I remember correctly. Its been on for a while.
